Huge number of staff (at least 4 working) which I've never seen before. You will get helped quick, that's for sure.
Overall I found the yarn selection mediocre and disappointing, despite there being so much.
Bottom line for me: Not high quality and not a lot of local or NY-area yarns. The only local yarn I found was a blend of merino and acrylic. I found most of their yarns were blends which is surprising that skeins are still $28-30ea.
There was a lot of cascade 220, which is a perfectly fine budget brand but still a budget brand (although the prices were not very budget). I also saw a lot of malabrigo.
I wanted something local but wasn't willing to compromise on quality (wool only for me) so I left empty handed. I tried to make it work but didn't want to spend $30-120 on acrylic yarnsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 6, 2023
Thank you to Jane for helping me find yarn for a scarf project and also giving me hints on how to crochet the cute baby sweater sample in the store.
An adorable store for knitters in the upper west side. Very helpful in Knitty City. I will be back!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dawn Z.Bristol, CT3050100Dec 26, 2023
This little yarn shop in packs a big punch for its size. Service was super friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive or aloof. Even better they have an exclusive yarn! Price is what I would expect at my local yarn shop in Connecticut. If you are in the area it's definitely worth a stop.

It doesn't get better than this place!! I wanted to learn something different and read all the reviews. This place is warm, inviting, comfortable. The staff is patient and teaches the basics.

I needed a few more skeins of my yarn to finish my project. I called Knitty City and they shipped out the right yarn immediately. Such nice folks on the phone--very helpful! and one of the few places that had the specific yarn.

This is more than a store, it's a creative outlet. A community center. It's feminist, progressive, welcoming, inclusive, and diverse--love the men's knitting night! It's warm, cozy, and homey, and there's something for everyone of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Knitty City is a must-visit regardless of whether or not you are a serious knitter.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Christopher C.New York, NY01May 25, 2023
place had horrible customer service. Refuse to sell to my wife because of her tattoos. Whoever was working there today claimed my wife's tattoos were "trashy".
