Decent local bar with a dozen beers on tap including Guinness. Bartender was fine. Place was almost empty on Tuesday. $15 lunch specials. Happy Hour Monday thru Friday from 3PM to 7 PM. This is a basement bar down a long flight of stairs.

This place was great, it was a last minute find that we went to so we could meetup with my cousin for some drinks. I love the decor in this place, because it gives you that typical New Yorkesque old school bar vibe. Fantastic music, great bartenders and drinks, and then they had pool tables as well.

We walked in at 11:45. The bartender was incredibly unwelcoming and told us he was closing up in 30 minutes. I asked if it was alright if we were there, he said whatever and again told us he was closing up. They close at 1AM. We came here because Josie Woods is apparently the only backgammon bar in nyc according to the internet. According to the bartender, no games. Pretty disappointing experience.

Classic dive bar conveniently located near Washington square park. Can mainly be full of NYU students but still a good vibe. Who doesn't love cheap beer and drinks!

It's kind of an NYU bar that's at least hidden down a flight of stairs. Never heard of this place and never would notice it unless a friend of ours pointed it out to us. Maybe it's new. But yeah. The drinks are somewhat affordable, they have pool tables. I ended up going later hours which was kind of funny because as I came in we asked why it was so crowded and the bouncer said 'college basketball'. I asked 'Who's winning?' Which is probably a stupid question considering that there were probably like six games going on at the time but he alerted me to the fact that most teams people were rooting for being in the final four just got eliminated, including Gonzaga and my face fell as did my bracket. Anyway, happy hour specials: Monday-Friday 4-8pm: Bud light Pints - $5, Josie Woods Ale - $6, Well Drinks - $6, and Buffalo Wings - $12. Not sure how happy those prices are especially $12 chicken wings but okay. Normal hour prices are $6-7 anyway so you're only saving a buck. You can also get a can of Genesee at any hour for only $4. That's probably the smart way to go if you're here just for beer. Food menu sounds like generic bar food at relatively average prices. If I were in the area and couldn't think of anything else, sure.

Been coming here for over 12 years , it's on Waverly place. You have to walk down a flight a stairs to get in ..plenty of TVs a back room , 2 pools tables and a dart board near by . I've come here for the happy hour wings which are still the same flavor as before it's 10 wings for $12 . It's used to be under $9 before 8pm . Pretty side menu here ... a decent Amount of food for your wallet here too. They have a juke box by the front door . From me coming here it's basically a good bar for groups during the day or just to grab a beer and finger food too. The bartenders here are very friendly and helpful too. The owners here are fine . They mostly managed the place as the night goes on. .

Came here over a month ago for first and last time. It's a local hangout for many people in the area, especially people from the same building my company work in. Place is downstairs in the basement with limited cell reception with a cool vibe. There are some billard tables if you wish to play. They check vaccination cards right at the entrance after you get down from the stairs and then it seem like everyone can walk freely without masks.
Drinks are decent. They have all the basics like any bar but somehow, they don't know how to make one drink for one of the girls- Moscow Mule. I think it took 3 tries to get it somewhat right (she paid for all 3).
It gets busy after 7pm on weekdays. I was here on a Friday afternoon 4pm-8:30pm with my colleagues. We had a corner to ourself and we all had separate tabs but we all would take turn paying for some rounds. One ordered some food for us to share on his tab and we were all having a good time until it was time to settle the bill. As all tispy or drunk people usually are, we all paid our tab and walked out having a great time. It's what happened afterward that lead me to wanting to leave 1 star but gave it 2 stars after they resolved the issue after a week. We all vow never to come back; but it's a bar so they don't lose much business especially since others (that wasn't there that night) from the company/building wouldn't know and still go back there. We didn't force anyone else our group that night to not return, just our group.
The next day, one of the guy checked his transactions online and try to match it with his receipt to find that he had no transactions meaning the bar charged someone else and he signed it. By Monday, he contacted all in our group to find out who had multiple charge and zelle that person the money. My female friend was charged 5 times for items our group didn't order- meaning the bar waitress charged other tables to her card! We immediately went to the bar after work Monday to get it resolved. The owners reluctantly helped and we took pictures of the receipts of signatures & orders to try to contact our colleagues again to see which signature is whos. But those orders didn't even belong to our table. A table order a veggie burger and other stuff- no one in our group is a vegetarian. The only food we ordered to shared that night was chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and waffle fries- which our friend zelle her. There was a total of at least 5 other tables that was charged to her card. The owners tried to help but ultimately said perhaps our colleagues just charged to her tab without asking and said to call the bank to get her money back because he wasn't issuing a refund. We came back to the over the next few days because the owner said he had to ask the waitress her side of the story and she isn't in until Wednesday.
She had locked her card on Monday and contacted the bank by Wednesday to report fraudulent charges. By Friday afternoon, she got a voice-mail from the owner that he will refund the money and it was pending. It took 1 week to resolve it. Even looking through his security camera and looking at the receipts, he was reluctant about refunding. My friend eventually got her refund. I was there with her the entire week for moral support and with advice to file charges with the police because it's fraudulent- who knows if the waitress copied her cc # or those people that signed those receipts copied down her #. I even suggested filing a charged to the BBB- she did neither.
The whole thing left a bad taste to all of us so we all refuse to go back there. She now don't ever want to leave her card with strangers and open any tab- she said she'll just pay every drink as she orders even though most of us said she van order on our tab & zelle later. This just made her have trust issue because it was ridiculous that waitress randomly charged tables and let those tables sign receipts. It wasn't even brought to my friend to sign- because at least we could have correct the issue right there and then.Business owner information

Sherry, we have just recently seen this review and would like to suggest that before you publish things like this you make sure you have your facts correct. The issue with these transactions was with our credit card processing company having a temporary outage and a technical issue when back online (unknown to us at the time). We initiated a full refund to your colleague through the processor when it became apparent what had happened which took a while to establish. The waitress and anyone at the business were totally unaware of any issue at the time the charges were made as it was a back end issue involving our processor which has since been resolved and cannot happen again. Thank you very much.

Nice ambiance, great waffle fried, but early in the night is can be a bust. Drink are strong and have flavor unless you like Bloody Mary's which feel a bit water downed. Then again I'm picky and don't like mine with hot sauce. Overal a pretty decent experience

The bar had a very cool vibe with a great happy hour special. I highly recommend the house beer which I think is as good as any IPA you buy at a fraction of the cost. We never tried the food but I heard that it's pretty good and it's something I'll definetley try the next time I come here with friends. You can also play pool for a dollar per round!
