OMG ... yesterday I started to feel a strange tingling in one of my teeth. I called my dentist in Boston who's receptionist said we can't fit you in until the 1st week in September. If it's an emergency go to the hospital Whhhhhat!/

Shortly after that call a friend in nyc called and I was telling her  about my dental painand hat I may have to go to a hospital who said, "honey, call my dentist he is The Best  and for emergencies goes out of his way to get someone in so the situation doesn't get worse".

But a 2.5 hr ride down to Ny wasn't on my agenda  ... I made it happen though.

Yes, I had to make a wretched early appointment today,(wearing dark glasses and not being able to say much ... an 8 am appointment, which meant I left home this morning at 5:30 am. I was so beat that all I could do was sign, grunt and write my condition/story!

Dr. Wolf understood; the guy came in an hour early just for me! He joked, "My ....... I see we aren't a morning person (insert smile), so tell me what's going on".

Anyone that can make me laugh at myself and crack a smile at 8 am after a 2.5hr car ride deserves a medal, a Plaque and a host of other nominations for congeniality!

It was well worth it for me to drive there... my friend was right this dentist is great.

Knowing I lived so far away he didn't want me to have to make another special trip down. He went from room to room, working on his other scheduled patients, and kept me longer than my 45 min. scheduled appointment. In total I was there about 1.5 hrs, with the infection drained then sealed and a great bonding job (cosmetic) done to make the tooth look like it hadn't been touched. I got my diva smile back!

run ... don't walk, this is a compassionate person who took me on as a new patient when my Boston dentist of 6 yrs couldn't find time for my emergency!

    I think I've found a new dentist.

While Dr. Wolf was an and excellent dentist, I had to stop seeing him because of the sexual harassment that he subjected me to. I was so shocked by some of the inappropriate things that he said to me, that I just could not believe it. I looked at his assistant's face to see how she reacted, l but since she was from Ecuador, she spoke very limited English, and therefore did not understand what Dr. Wolf had said to me.

Dr wolf cancelled 2 appointments at the  very last minute and did not even come to the office for my third appointment. He may be a good dentist if one actually sees him but the entire experience was frustrating waste of time  . His pleasant staff was embarrassed for him

I have been a patient of Dr. John Wolf's since 1996. I have multiple on-going challenges with my mouth and teeth, and Dr. Wolf has always been incredibly sensitive to my needs and pain tolerance thanks to his calming and convivial demeanor.

I moved to the Jersey Shore in 2006 and have continued to retain Dr. Wolf as my dentist because of my complete satisfaction with his work. He is usually on-time, although dentistry is an art, not a science, and sometimes there have been last-minute schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with other patients. On those rare occasions, I've always found his staff to be friendly and accommodating.

He's not the cheapest dentist, but he stands behind his work and has always been fair with me when complications have arisen. He's also been more than fair when it comes to setting up a payment plan with me, which is important as I have gone through long periods of time with no dental insurance.

I look forward to many more years of being his patient.

I have been a patient here for years and in the past 18 months lots of changes, more dentists in the space and different support staff.  A month ago I had an appointment for a major procedure, one that required I take half a day off from work.  45 minutes before the appointment, a receptionist called to tell me that Dr Wolf needed to cancel.  I wasn't able to reschedule until a month later, appointment was confirmed day before.  I show up on time, am brought into the room and after lying there 20 minutes I take off my bib and go to the front desk.  Dr. Wolf had not shown up, had not called, and the staff was unable to reach him on his mobile phone.  I asked for a copy of my xrays, charts and will not be returning.  No apology or explanation from the Dr.  for wasting my time.

UPDATE ONE WEEK LATER: The "office manager" Scott phoned a couple of days after the no-show (Doctor was the no-show, not me) and said he wanted to hear "my version of the story."  I explained all of the above and that the doctor never even called to apologize for (1) canceling  my prior appointment with less than an hour's notice and (2) this time not even showing up after I lay horizontal in the chair with my little bib waiting for him-only to learn (after I got out of the chair and went to the front desk) that the staff couldn't locate him since he hadn't shown up wasn't answering his mobile.  Before ending the call, Scott promised to send out my xrays right away and the doctor left a voice message next day for me saying he was sorry.

UPDATE THREE WEEKS LATER: I called Scott, office manager, telling him I never received the xrays, was leaving on a business trip out of the country and needed them so I could have work done by another dentist when I returned.  Scott told me they were short of staff with 4th of July holiday week but promised to send them out right away.  The next week, in Europe on my business trip, I receive an email asking for $25 for copies of the xrays (never mentioned previously).  I politely wrote back asking if the doctor might waive the $25 given how much I had been inconvenienced by his last-minute cancellation and then next time his not showing up at all, and the response, copied verbatim from the email sent by his office staff is below:

"I spoke with Dr. Wolf and he said he would be willing to remove the $25 copying fee if you remove the negative review on Yelp. If you do not want to remove the review, then the $25 copying fee will still apply."

So the first couple of sessions were fine. However, I made a morning appt two weeks ago and they took the person who was an hour later than me first and I couldn't wait up be seen because I had to get to work. Two weeks later, I make an appt first thing in the morning and dr. Wolf calls out sick at the last minute. Now waiting to see if I can be seen.

Before 2013, I had had minor issues, such as procedures done during a regular visit that wasn't covered by insurance (I found out when I got billed). You hope your dentist might warn you about things like that, but ultimately the burden seems to fall on the patient now to call the insurance company for every procedure, so I didn't really hold it against Dr. Wolf, who offered a small discount on the bill.

But this month, I had an appointment with Dr. Wolf scheduled weeks in advance, and when I came in, I was told that he could not see me as he was dealing with another patient. I was shocked that no one had informed me before I made the trip, but I figured that sometimes screw-ups and emergencies happen, so I decided to grin and bear it and make an apt. for the next day.

Unbelievably, the next day the office called to tell me that Dr. Wolf wouldn't be coming in that day at all, and would have to see me in a few days. Obviously, taking off from work and arranging my schedule does not make it easy for me to just schedule and reschedule and no or little notice, so I asked if another dentist at the office could see me. Fortunately, Dr. Delany was able to see me and was very accommodating and apologetic about the incident. I say that so as not to implicate the entire office in what I experienced trying to book an apt. with Dr. Wolf.

No one at the office could say why Dr. Wolf's patients are being treated in this manner, and the staff seemed genuinely frustrated. I can't accept this kind of abuse of a patient's time. Can a doctor who cares so little for patients' time really care properly about their health?

Avoid this place, it a mess. Went for regular cleanings and liked the hygienist but the rest of the staff not so much. The front desk is a cast of characters who are completely unorganized, don't call back, etc. Beware of insurance issues mentioned in other reviews, which you'll only discover when the bill arrives. As I was having my teeth cleaned I noticed ants crawling across the ceiling above my opened mouth, not cool. 50% of the time the dentist is not available after cleanings to give a check up so you're paying for a dentist and getting a hygienist. Find another dentist where you can experience a clean, modern office and consistent care and honest billing practices.

Let's face it: most people don't enjoy going to the dentist. (think of how you have to DRAG your dog to the vet.) If you must go-and you must-book an appointment with Dr. Wolf!

I speak from EXTENSIVE personal experience. He knows how to give the injections so they don't hurt, he does beautiful work, and is genuinely concerned about his patients. Once I broke a tooth on a holiday, and he offered to come to the office to make a temporary for me.

As far as cost goes, Dr. Wolf is more than fairly priced. Compared to the extortionate fees my prior dentist charged, paying the bills, even without insurance, seemed almost as painless as the umpteen root canals and new crowns I've received.

One more advantage, the office has an wonderful periodontist, Dr. Vicky Batalias and two great hygienists, Juan Carlos and Fabiola. All of them have treated me, and I just wouldn't go anywhere else!

I have been a patient of Dr. Delaney (a partner of Dr. Wolfe) for nearly 4 years now. Such professional staff, and wonferful service. From extractions to fillings and beyond, every procedure I've received has been done excellently. I love this office and recommend it to everyone I know. Even if they didn't accept my insurance, I would pay cash to be treated here.

Drs. John W. Wolf and Evan S. Cohen run their own practice in Chelsea.  I've been a patient of theirs for about 10 years and highly recommend their dental office for your care.

Beside the doctors, there is a staff of dental assistants, technicians and of course, receptionists to take care of all your needs.  There is also a periodontist who attends one day of the week in case you have needs involving your gums.

Everyone is so friendly and pleasant, and just about everyone has worked there for years.  That little turn-over always makes me feel better about any established practice.

For the most part, I've had cleanings and polishings regularly, but there has been a wisdom tooth pulled and a small cavity drilled, all with the utmost care.  They really do look after the patient first and are upfront and honest about your needs.

As a side note, it is a gay-friendly business for those who may be seeking such an office.

I just got back today from Dr. Wolfs office.  I had gone to see him with a hole in my face feeling like an unattractive pumpkin.  He put me back together again better  than Humpty Dumpty and in no time flat as well.  I felt no pain.  I was in awe of his mastery.  He is an artist. You can't go wrong with him on your side.
