Do they serve champagne? I did a Yelp search for restaurants that serve beer and wine and this is the 3rd place that doesn't have any alcohol on the menu. I think a menu page is missing. Do they serve champagne?

      A:

      Most certainly yes!!!

Love that they have gluten free toast. I also have a sensitivity to pineapple and they actually keep their fruit salad separate so they could easily accommodate that. Everything was very fresh and flavorful.

I ordered the eggs benedict gluten free and grapefruit juice, so it's hard to serve anything especially fabulous but I was very happy with it. It's standard fair, tasty breakfast. Would I recommend it to people visiting? Not especially. Would I go back? Totally.

I went there for breakfast last week, after not eating at Joanie's since it's last location. Since I can only eat gluten free and dairy free foods, they made oatmeal especially for me with oatmilk. It was very nice of them to go out of their way, and I really appreciate it. I will definitely come back

Joanie's is a great weekend brunch spot. They have lots of egg & omelette dishes as well as pancakes, French toast, and usually some interesting daily specials. There is always a 15-20 minute wait on the weekend, but they get you in as fast as possible. The service is attentive and the food is delicious. They also offer gluten free toast with your eggs for no extra charge!

How did I not know about this place?!?! (Btw, thank you fellow Yelpers.) Wonderful food and service. They have it all and most importantly, focus on health and freshness. Gluten free options. Delicious organic coffee with refills. Prepare to wait for a table for breakfast on the weekend but let me assure you, Joanie's Cafe is worth the wait, and they will gladly serve you a beverage to help pass the time.

The best breakfast around this area, and it's served all day. I love that they offer gluten free toast. Everything tastes like care was put into making it.

Breakfast is served all day and you have a choice of hash browns or home fries. Both potato options are strong, but the home fries are very garlicky and depending on what you order, could overpower the meal.

Joanie (the owner) is really thoughtful and kind. The current staff is excellent too. This business has been in the community for a very long time, I hope it sticks around forever. If you arrive on a weekend for brunch, expect to wait a very long time.

      Reasons I'm obsessed with Joanie's:

      1) Cal Ave. is adorable and right next to my apartment. Great location, and a nice way to begin/end a Farmers' Market jaunt on Sundays.

      2) The coffee is delicious. I take my coffee black, so I definitely value tasty joe at my brunch spots.

      3) The hash browns, ordered extra crispy.

      4) Mexican Scramble.

      5) They let me sub fruit for toast/muffin since I can't eat gluten.

      6) The wait isn't too bad most Saturday/Sundays.

      7) The lady at the front is so sweet!

      8) Some of the servers are pretty fun, sassy/playful but professional.

      9) Their eggs are attentively prepared and consistently in the top echelon of tastiness.

      10) Goat Cheese Omelette.

Joanie's hits a home run in brunch excellence: friendly, attentive service, a bright and homey atmosphere, and flavorful food with generous portions. The restaurant is medium sized, with bright windows and shiny wood tables and counters, and some outdoor seating. Arriving on a Sat morning, my friend and I were seated at a table right away and given plenty of time to order. Tip: come before 11am to beat the weekend crowd.

Joanie's Cafe made the best scramble with salmon I've ever had, hands-down. My custom order was overflowing with tasty and salty salmon, fresh chives, and spinach. The side of melon was decent though slightly underripe, and the gluten-free toast was as expected. My friend had an absurdly large serving of French toast, super soft and thick cut, and brought home nearly half of her plate. Overall, Joanie's cooks up one wonderful brunch!

Custom scramble w/ smoked salmon, spinach, and chives. Side of fruit and gluten-free toast. YUM.

This is your very American brunch place, not the classy mimosa brunch that you wear a day dress to. Think omelets, and hot cocoa, and hash browns. The food is good. My omelet was HUGE and had SO much feta cheese in it, you wouldn't believe it. The hash browns were amazing and my mom thoroughly enjoyed her tuna melt. In fact she liked it so much, she kept eating after she was full, which doesn't happen normally.

I would personally say that the portions were huge, I couldn't finish my omelet, even after I shared with my mom and my dad, same goes for hash browns. My dad, however, left a bit hungry. Can't say that about my mom and myself.

I didn't get to try my mom's tuna melt, because I suspected it had onions and garlic in it (I was right).

The service was great. My drink was refilled before I could finish it, so was my dad's gluten free bread. I got to try the jam, which was really good. They didn't even kick the customers out, even though it was past their closing time!!!
