Amazing!!! One of my favorite places I've ever been to. The food is amazing. The frozen apple beer is delicious and the ambience is really fun but not too loud and obnoxious it's great!
We were told the wait would be around 30+ but people were finishing up quick so we were seated in under 10!
Been to a couple other Korean bars but this place takes the cake!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jonathan L.Fremont, CA01220Mar 3, 20241 check-in
Went with a party of 3, but perfect for a party of 4 because of how the tables are shaped.
We got a few items including the Apple frozen beers, rose spicy rice cake, spicy pork belly with stewed kimchi, spicy fish roe soup, and the rice balls. Ambiance was a fun time and we had soju and beer with everything. This place defines what a gastropub is as there was hearty Korean food and Korean drinks with a flare. Dingy, but a delicious fun little gem!
FYI: There was free parking (ktown rarity) though parking is a bit sparseHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - 452111300Jan 9, 2024
The food portions are huge! Really good bang for the buck and all of the food was solid.
Rose tteokbokki was so good! It had fishcakes, sausage, corn, and udon in it as well.
Pork belly with green onions was also really good but it got cold fast, I recommend eating it fresh. Kimchi pancake was solid, big and good amount of crisp. Fried chicken gizzard was crispy and yummy, came with 2 sauces that I didn't prefer but I dipped it in the rose tteokbokki sauce + kimchi pancake sauce instead.Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - Nov 22, 2023
The service is so good and they're quick with it which I loveddd! The ambiance gives fun night out, the vibes are so fun and I loved the lighting. The music was a little too loud so we couldn't hear each other, but it was fun lol!
The food.... Yalll!!!!!!! The rosé sauce is so good! Highly recommend trying it. Can't wait to go back and try more!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jun 27, 2023
I absolutely loved JJAN!
At first, I thought it was closed, but it turns out you can only enter from the back.
There's a nice big parking lot with plenty of free parking which is a big plus in Koreatown!
I was there at about 5:45 pm on a Friday and there was just one other table of four there. By the time we left at 7:15 PM, it was packed and people were waiting for a table.
I'm really glad we got there early because we had a nice cozy table in a corner. It was perfect because it was a first date! The only downside is I didn't like the music so much. Other than that, it was perfect.
Our server was really pleasant. He took our drink orders and got the food out to us quickly. That was the only time we saw him, though. I had to track him down to settle the bill. Super nice guy, though. He was busy handling a lot of other things.
We had the Spicy Rice Cake, $10.99, and the Seafood Pancake, $18.99. Both were delicious and the portions were plentiful.
They have a happy hour menu but it's not very extensive. The beer deal is a liter pitcher of Coors Lite for $17. I had a Terra for $10.99 and my friend had rice wine on the happy hour menu for $10.99.
When I was leaving, I saw they had frozen beer. Had I known, I might have tried it!
I love the dark ambiance of the place with lights strung along the ceiling. Again, the only thing I didn't like was the music, but it got better when it was crowded because I could barely hear it.
Oh yeah, they have a couple of small TV screens. They had a UFC fight showing on it.
I would absolutely go back here. Especially because it feels like a hideaway! Get there early if you want a good table and don't want to wait. They open at 5:00 PM.Helpful 6Thanks 2Love this 7Oh no 0 - 39108362Sep 8, 2023
I went here around 6PM on a Thursday, and we were the first ones here. The employees were nice and the music selection was great. It is a mixture of all genres. The inside is kind of small, but decorated with cute lights all around the ceiling. The prices are great for what you get.
They have happy hour, on certain food items and drinks.
Everything we ate was delicious! We had the green apple frozen beer, soju, pork belly with green onions, kimchi pancake, corn cheese, spicy chicken, dumplings, and spicy rice cake.
The parking is a bit challenging - they have their own lot but there are other businesses that occupy the spaces as well. And street parking... good luck!
I would definitely want to come back probably on a weekend and more towards the evening time. :)Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1 - Aug 19, 2023
We came at midnight on Friday and got seated right away! The food was amazing, portion sizes and prices were great, and it's a good pocha to spend some time with friends.
We shared these between a group of 4:
- Cheese Bath Spicy Chicken BBQ: I loved the sauce and the cheese was covering the entire bottom layer of the plate. They do not skimp on the chicken, and you can tell it's good quality chicken thigh meat.
- Kimchi Fried Rice: Pretty good but wouldn't consider this the highlight. Thought it was a bit bland compared to the other dishes.
- 420 Fries: Topped with hot cheetos, cheese sauce, mayo, and an egg! The fries were like McDonald's, which really hit the spot. Definitely not the most high quality, but it works.
- Pork belly with green onions: Tastes like actual KBBQ you get at KBBQ restaurants! Really solid. Just a tiny bit oily near the end.
I really liked the food, but it wasn't the best pocha food we've had compared to places we've been to in LA, NY, and Asia. If anything, it makes me want more pocha food! Which may or may not be a good thing depending on you.Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1 - Jack T.Los Angeles, CA01220Dec 17, 2023
No Diet Coke
Best place in LA for a late night bite.
My boyfriend said this is where they used to take dates to vet them and I believe that is a wise choice. Love them for that. Everything was divine and the vibe couldn't be better. It's all dark and secluded and sexy or whatever. They've got a cutout standee of Irene from Red Velvet so that basically vouches the whole place as based and cool.
Service was excellent and the server was kinda hot so take that for what you will.
Prices are reasonable

This is probably the third or fourth time my friends and I came back since our first visit a month ago. Same great music and noise levels aren't as loud as other bars. Today Tommy and Marcus were the servers :) They're both awesome!
We got the spicy rice cakes, 420 fries, black raspberry wine, and A LOT of soju! Every time we come to JJAN we have consistent, awesome service and the food/drinks are always great. When you come to a Korean bar where old and young Koreans go, you know it's good ;)
Thanks again Tommy! We'll be back again soon!Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0Jun 6, 2023Previous reviewJJAN is a Korean gastropub located in Koreatown in Los Angeles. My friends and I decided to try a new spot and we absolutely love this place. There's free parking in the back (where the entrance is located). It's dark and cozy inside with a cute ceiling of stringed lights for ambience! What's really nice is that they have music playing but it's not so loud that you can't have a conversation with your friends. Happy hour was from 5-8 PM.
I have to point out that the owner Tommy and the other server Down are both super friendly and amazing! Excellent service, really attentive to all the guests, and super chill.
We ordered Spicy Rice Cakes (added cheese and ramen), Fried Chicken Wings, 3 Frozen Dark Beers, 2 Cass Beers, and 3 Sojus. The Spicy Rice Cakes had just the right amount of spiciness, Fried Chicken Wings were crunchy and fresh, and they even give a small drinking snack of pretzels for free. Everything tasted great and better than a lot of other Korean bar foods we've had.
The owner was so generous and gave us the 420 Fries and a bottle of soju on the house. Thank you Tommy and Down for an awesome night of drinking and fun!
짠! Cheers!
