      Updated review

It's tough to write this review but I owe it to everyone, to share my experience.

And I don't think it's Jewel's issue, here are the details. I bought two bottles of Oberweis chocolate milk. It was BOGO.

I was working one morning and I heard a "clunk" sound from my fridge. I thought that it was my ice maker. Well I decided to make another cup of coffee before a business meeting in which I was an active participant and when I opened my fridge door to get some creamer, a wave chocolate milk cascaded out, onto my wood floor and under my fridge.

I tried to clean as much as I could and I also didn't want to cut myself. Let's just say I wasn't able to concentrate during my meeting and I had to clean the bottom of the fridge and pull my fridge out, to clean underneath.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? The bottle just broke by itself? I reported this issue to their Corp. office.

I may just stick to chocolate milk in plastic jugs for now.

Jackson B is an outstanding employee and builds loyalty to Jewel in a highly competitive environment. He epitomizes excellence in customer service. Please take note Jose, my dear, you trained a really top guy!

Who's the cranky black girl cashier in express lane. I was there around 11ish this morning and won't be back. I'll shop in my Evanston store where they are all friendly people going forward.

Please repair the machine that has the tickets in the deli section. The lack of order with the lines to place an order at the deli is very frustrating.

I usually like shopping at smaller chain stores such as Valli, Aldi or independently owned grocery stores, but when I'm in the area I enjoy this store and am able to find what I need, I like that they have a fairly large section of prepared foods for a quick meal when your in a rush or tired from a long day. They have foods like salads and sandwiches which can be eaten right away a also prepared meals which can quickly reheated in the microwave . The crowds can get busy especially on the weekends but I've never had to wait to long in line especially at self checkout cause they have several registers open. Workers are always pleasant and helpful if you need it,

I don't shop at Jewel very often because they are over priced, that being said they do run some sales from time to time that draw me in. About 2 months ago I found out that every Saturday their Salad Bar is only $2.99/lb compared to their normal price of $5.99/lb. I love salad bars, but when everything looks good you know a little of this & a little of that the weights can add up pretty quick. There have been times where after I created my salad it cost me $564.00 (just kidding) more like $16- $18 dollars.

Well today I had a salad that weighed in @ 1.91/lbs & cost me less then $6. That my friends makes me happy happy happy. A great salad at a great price.

Well hello and what a transformation this store has taken. Jewel hadn't seen my shadow in quite a while, but this particular location won me over. It's clean, well organized, staffed with friendly people, has a variety of great products and is not terribly expensive.
As that other store that took chicago by storm and sold itself to Kroger, jewel seems to have their act together.

This location recently received several welcome enhancements including a salad/hot bar, sushi made in-house, expansion of meals-to-go, and new shopping carts. But corporate ethos and hence store services leave much to be desired.

On two separate occasions when I reached for a container of coleslaw in the refrigerated deli case, my hand encountered a gooey substance. Ewww! I reported this to Customer Service on both occasions. Was the problem corrected? Nope. Okay, so I buy my coleslaw elsewhere.

Then I stopped by on a 'Cheep Chicken Monday' to buy some roasted chicken for dinner. The bird was inedible, tough and dried out. Jewel did refund my money, but now I buy my chicken elsewhere.

Replenishment of items at the salad/hot bar is chronically subpar compared with other stores I frequent. This past July while I was assembling a salad, a produce worker proceeded to shut down the salad bar (it was only 6:40 PM). Appalled by his rudeness, I emailed a complaint to (current parent company) Safeway. The very next day an assistant store manager called me to apologize and offer a comp visit to the salad bar.

But was the issue corrected? Nope. In early November, at 5:45 PM - yes, before 6:00 - on a weekday, a produce worker pulled the tongs away from my reach while declaring, "The salad bar is closed!" Why? "I have to leave early today and there is no one else in the store who can shut down the salad bar." Egad. I promptly summoned a manager, who (after some insistence on my part) grudgingly gave me a store credit.

Who needs this hassle? Although this is the nearest grocery to my home, you can see why I prefer to do the majority of my food shopping elsewhere.

I wish i could give 0 for this jewel Osko location! Why? Because i always have the worst experience there with customer service.
Today my husband went into grab some formula for our baby and ended up going somewhere else because apparently people working there do not know where the key to access the formula!!! Come on. Dont they have spare key in the back or were they too lazy to go check??? We have baby and of course we really needed the formula ! The other branch didn't have formula however, refused to check the back stock saying nahhh we dont have it like at least tryyyy right?. And this touhy location cant find the key wow what a awesome workers!!! Also everyone works there very rude not welcoming.

I mean, it's a grocery store. Nothing can get too wild. But let me say this: the customer service is very good for a grocery store. Firstly, I have had many friendly and helpful interactions with the cashiers and baggers. Usually they are polite at any store, but here they seem to ask about your day or make a little joke or small talk. I think that's a nice touch.

Also, I recently had a problem with the smartphone app. I got a little annoyed that it wouldn't allow me to log in. I mean, just give us the savings right away and don't make me monkey around with passwords and the like! I completed the survey on the receipt and mentioned my frustration.

Obviously the problem I had isn't the fault of anyone that works at the actual store. However, the store manager called and followed up. He had a genuine tone and wanted to do what he could to make the problem right. I was very satisfied with his response.

Between all of these experiences, I would recommend this store. Customer service jobs can be brutal, but I think that the employees of this store make a legitimate effort to do a good job and that's all I could possibly ask for.
