I have a similar story to other customers who have tried to use this place's delivery service. I think mine might top the rest though.

We called for delivery at 9:30 p.m. They took our order.

Then they called an hour later and said that we were too far away for them to deliver. We said that they had waited a long time to tell us this, and then if we had known, we would have ordered from someone else. they said that since we had waited so long, they would bring the food anyway. we asked how long it would take. They said, GPS says 20 minutes.

40 minutes later, they had not arrived. This was at 11:15. So we called and asked them what was going on. They said, oh, we closed at 11. We said, So are you bringing the food? They said, no. They didn't cancel the order, they kept our money.

My coworkers and I ordered lunch through grub hub, and once we finally received our order, we were severely disappointed. We ordered the chicken kabob with rice (which was as dry as the desert), a gyro (which wasn't bad), and a side of lamb (which was basically a heart attack in a styrofoam bowl because there was so much grease).

Won't be ordering from here again.

DO NOT EAT OR ORDER DELIVERY FROM THERE. The food is severely depressing. Last night ordered delivery and got the lamb kabob. The description sounds very delicious but what I got was rice that was dry as a desert and unseasoned. The lamb kabob was 1 lamb chop & pieces ripped off from other lamb chops. The lamb was extremely burnt all around and only 10% edible. This horrible concoction was topped with 1 piece of grilled green pepper & 2 pieces of grilled onion. I also ordered a large pepperoni pizza...... But this pizza had no to very minimal tomato sauce....what kind of pizza? Literally one large size had 1 pepperoni slice. On top of all that, they sent the wrong cheesecake...
Had to sleep hungry last night because the food was horrible. Not worth the time, money, and the disappointment. And You will be disappointed with their food.

      The Pizza was great- awsome.
It was 100% fresh made when I went in there. They try hard to serve best, I can image that sometimes they can fail - it's family. I would always go again for the Pizza.

Ordered delivery tonight. Maybe this isn't where they shine. Ordered pita salad (no onions), lamb kabob, and chicken fingers with blue cheese dressing. Said I would pay cash.
Delivery guy comes with NO change, so I had to call the restaurant to pay by cc. He handed me my order, along with an empty pizza box (not sure why).

Lamb was un-chewable or cut-able. SO tough - and no flavor, no marinade..nada. That was one tough old lamb shoulder!

Pita salad had lots of onion (I ordered no onion, and hate raw onion).

Chicken fingers - cooked perfectly! But no blue cheese dressing...honey mustard. Argghh!

There are too many choices to deliver to my house to try Jannat again. If I was coming out of a bar near there drunk, I would try a slice, but knowing the location of the restaurant, I will not be walking around there drunk any time soon.

Where can you find a slice of pizza for less than a buck these days? I know where...Jannat Kabob and Pizza!

That's not a typo, as of this writing (October 2011) this place is doing $.99 cent slices! I'd class the crust a bit closer to Ray's famous (NYC) than the usual thick, doughy, undercooked, "hand tossed" filler material that many places in the area attempt to pass off as pizza. Not they're not using water buffalo mozzarella or an heirloom tomato sauce, but the pizza here is solid. Delivery is available with a $10 minimum; be sure to tip your delivery worker well.

As per it's name, Jannat also does Kabobs, Lamb, Kubideh (sirloin), Chapeli Peshawari, and chicken. I noted a Gyro on the menu also. The place also does deli subs, stromboli and pasta, and the usual blue collar neighborhood assortment of wings and other fried delights.

Jannat Kabob s easy to get to via mass transit. There's a sheltered transit stop close by for the Metrobus X-2 line from Gallery Place Chinatown Metrorail station, and MacPherson Square Metrorail station. The stop also serves the X-9 express bus, and will also serve as a stop for the upcoming DC Circulator Streetcar. The bicycle parking could use some help there though.

If you need a large selection of beverages to go with your dinner, there's a new 7-11 opening directly across the street at 25th place.

Yay! very excited to find a new place close to home that has options. They have chickpea, cauliflower and potato and spinach dishes, plus rice and nan. Everything had a nice balance of spices and not too spicy hot, just flavorful. Tasty!! All if it is very greasy, but grease tastes goooood.

This review is for pick-up only, not the delivery.

I eat here about twice a month, and it's everything I want from a local hole-in-the wall. Cheap prices, an abundance of food, excellent flavors and fast, friendly service.

Highly recommend the chicken curry plate. It's the best I've had in the district -- bold spices, excellent sauce, and perfect texture. It still has bones in it, so if you're expecting boneless, skinless chicken breasts, you'll be disappointed. The sides are awesome with my favorite being the cauliflower curry. My good Bengali, Indian friend said it's the best he's had out of India. Every time he visits from out of town, we have to go there. He also sometimes gets the kabob, which he said is pretty good. I haven't tried it yet since the curry dishes are so good, there's no reason to switch it up.

I did make the mistake and ordered a pizza from here once, and never again. Came late, cold and mutilated. But, if you're in the mood for great curried dishes and kabobs, I definitely recommend heading here.

Appears to be permanently closed. Windows have been covered for at least the past 6 months. No indication what, of anything will open in its place.
Word in the neighborhood says a new place is opening soon - Soul Food.
