Jake's is a most stop in Plymouth, yes there is one in Eagan and Eden prairie but for me the one in Plymouth is my favorite. When I first started working in Minnesota 9 years ago I would visit Jake's very frequently. The Jake's sauce and the out door bar gave me a Minnesota feel that stuck with me. I have always had a good time and great service. I always seem to run into some hockey families that are coming from Plymouth ice center.
Happy hour ! They have a great happy hour. I'm am absolut fan of there Jake's city brew. It's brewed only for them by a great Wisconsin brewery called Leinenkugel! It's just a good beer, it's a pale ale. Not to hoppy but enough. It's perfect for a easy drinking beer but hoppy enough to please a craft brew enthusiast. I also love there Asian potstickers. Something I get every time . They are these pork filled dumplings that are cooked to perfection and have this amazing glaze on them. Must try, you will get enough to feed two people before dinner.
Next would have to be there Jake's wings in there classic Jake's sauce. So there sauce is this type of sticky glaze with a little bit of a spicy zing. Have to try for yourself and if you're like me, you can buy a bottle there and take it home.
For dinner I love the Jake's burger. Yes because it has there sauce but their fries are awesome. These little shoe string fries are really good with ranch.
There also known for there wood fired pizzas! I'm a classic margarita fan myself but I do like more traditional pepperoni and sausage. The crust that's a little crispy is expected and the sauce is very flavorful.
Service I'm a fan of the bar area. The bartender are extremely nice and they want to get to know you because they belong and are from the community. The experience is all about feeling like home.
I have been here with a larger group of 12 and they took care of us. Everyone got what they ordered and knew where the food was supposed to go. To me they were detailed oriented and for me that means quality service. Shows they care.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 13, 2020
We went to Jakes after a hockey game. When we arrived, there were signs saying, the credit cards were not accepted, due to technical difficulties. Only cash was accepted. They did not have an ATM on site, nor would they accept checks. I was strongly considering leaving, but a member of my party had cash on hand.
I ordered a chicken ciabatta sandwich. Someone else ordered the Cobb salad (who said it was excellent). My sandwich was okay. I probably would get something different next time.
Hopefully, they get their technical issues resolved soon. I would go back to give this place another try.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 5594684156Jun 15, 2017
I always enjoy time at Jake's in Plymouth.
Happy Hour, lunch, dinner, or brunch!
To begin with you can get quite a few different flavors from their expansive menu. Much to my surprise they do most of them all rather well. Mediterranean, Mexican, Chinese, flat bread, sandwiches, salads, etc. etc.
Another major gem is their patio! For a spot surrounded by a parking lot after you enter inside it's surrounded by trees and greenery! Lovely!
Happy Hour deals are pretty good. I need to get this spot back in my rotation since it's so close to work.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 8, 2017
Stopped in Jake's when staying at the Comfort Inn across the street.
I sat in the bar area, so the bartender was working the bar and the high top tables were I was... even with that, Over all the service was fine.
I had the special that night of Shrimp & Scallop Tortallini, which was very good.
Not a bad place to eat within walking distance from the hotel.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alexandra B.Minneapolis, MN14221Jan 21, 2020
They've really gone downhill. I ordered wings and pizza rolls through bitesquad and the wings were practically raw, so disappointing (AND GROSS)
They also missed an order of pizza rolls. The last few times I've gotten takeout there have been increasingly bad. This will be the last.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 24, 2018
I got to spend a week in a nearby hotel for business, and as usual, I wanted to venture out of the hotel restaurant and explore the flavors of the area. A Yelp search pointed me in the direction of Jake's, so off my colleagues and I went
We arrived for happy hour and shared the mushrooms, spinach artichoke dip, chicken tenders, hummus, and I had a chopped salad. The mushrooms were on the oily side, largely due to them being beer-battered instead of breaded. My hummus was pretty good, as was my salad.
While perusing the regular menu, my colleagues noticed the prime rib and instantly made together minds up that we need to return the very next night for dinner lol. So the next night, they each had the 10oz prime rib while I settled on the cedar plank salmon. All three of us enjoyed our meals, and went to bed very happy (and full) both nights. See you in about a month, Jake's!
The service was friendly and the vibe was chill.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Debbie F.Minneapolis, MN122Oct 28, 2019
We were there yesterday, a group of 5 adults and 3 kids. The waiter was pleasant but they seem to out of a lot of things: the shrimp/sausage chowder, whip cream for the deserts, and a couple types of beer.
We had reservations for 1:00, were seated promptly, it took an hour and a half for the food, then had to wait for the ice cream cup sundaes the kids get, finally got to leave at 3:30. Wasted the whole day at the restaurant.
3 adults got the Prime philly dip sandwich. All 3 portions and looks were different. 1) good, nice warm, cheesy sandwich :-) 2) meat portion ok but buried in veggies, 3) crusty, scrapped off the grill meat, fries position on the bun so you couldn't tell that there was only meat on half the bun and cold French fries :-(
For $16.00 a sandwich I expect more!!! poor quality food.
1 BLT - portion: lots of lettuce, ok on the bacon, 1 thin slice of tomato, and as Mom put it " at least they didn't burn the toast"
We won't be going back anytime soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 8, 2015
A large chain style suburban restaurant just off 494 & Hwy 55 in Plymouth. I stopped in for lunch to meet a friend on a weekday.
Their menu features all the usual suspects including brick oven pizza, burgers and salads. I tried the chicken chopped salad which was good and not overly heavy on the dressing. It was a really big portion and I ended up taking half of it home with me. My friend had the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries that he liked.
Even though it was only 62 degrees, since it was sunny we joined the other hearty souls and sat outside. Our server had them turn on the big fire pit next to the table which made things quite comfortable. All in all a decent spot for lunch.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Suzanne H.Marquette, MI45154290Aug 6, 2019
Greek Salad review: the dressing is very sweet and not "Greek" at all. This pretty much ruined the taste of the salad. Two thumbs down for preparation...no kalamata olives. This was reported after the salad was delivered. In defense of the staff, they offer a discount on the salad.
This will be my last visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kris A.Minneapolis, MN218Nov 23, 2018
The Thanksgiving buffet was nothing to give thanks about. Three items were gone during our reserved time: mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and carved turkey. In my opinion these three define Thanksgiving dinner. Mind you they did offer two steam pans of what I will call "turkey jerky"... no thank you. The dessert portion of the meal was laughable. You order from the waitress one sliver of either pecan or pumpkin pie with a dollop of dried cool whip, and you are brought a Sam's Club mini slice on a chilled plate.
Our waitress seemed to be too busy explaining to other parties the mystery of the missing food because she didn't clear our table or refill our drinks.
(Flat Pepsi to boot! Lol)
Hey, at least I didn't have to wash dishes this year!
I would recommend any Minneapolis soup kitchen over this weak effort to anybody looking for a Thanksgiving meal in the future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
