1/7/2022Whenever I am around here, I like to pop into this Jack's 99 to see what I can find. The bargain hunting is the thrill of the chase. I tend to stay away from the refrigerated foods. My main areas that I focus on are the school supplies, snacks, and dried goods. The spices are a good deal. I also find containers they sell here useful. I am very particular about my office supplies so sometimes you can get a great deal here like a small coupon divider that is way better quality that the ones they sell at the target dollar spot. (I had to discard that one from target but my jack's 99 one is still in excellent condition). Things are a hit or a miss sometimes. This location has an extensive second floor which has home goods like a kitchen utensils/cooking section, and small foldable tables and other home things. Great to check out if you are on the hunt for a specific item. I found these Prince of Peace ginger chews I was looking for for a decent price (I grabbed 3 bags) and when I went back to get more a week later they were nowhere to be found! The store is also great for party supplies- paper cuts, paper plates, party balloons, birthday cards. In the snack aisle they have these brand name horseradish and cheddar chips from a brand name that I had a difficulty locating in the supermarkets. Overall good finds. Sometimes the lines can get pretty long; you just need to be patient. The inventory goes fast! The last time I was here I noticed the street has become the location of a homeless beggar or two so just be careful.

1/9/2021I LOVE Jack's. It's many notches better than typical Dollar Tree or dollar General. First, not every item is in the dollar range but the discounts are very good! The brands are also household names, not no name brands.
The store is pretty large on the inside. It's three floors. The first floor is where you'll find most of the food items and upstairs is where you find home goods, beauty products, etc. This Jack's location in particular has a great refrigerated selection compared to the other locations.
The only thing I don't look forward to is that it can get crowded in here. Fortunately, there is security on each floor so it doesn't feel like a free for all. I've never seen any half open products like you sometimes see in other dollar stores with poor security. - Ron R.New York, NY356

1/25/2022I have shopped at all of the Jack's for years. I have only good things to say about Jack's. However, over the past year I have purchased at check out their 'tote bags', the ones with their name on it. The past three times I have been in the store, I have put the bags on the counter at check out and the cashier never acknowledges this and simply makes no attempt to pack up my goods. WHY NOT ? I don't get it. And a may other reviews say, the cashiers have the worst attitude, they turn a great shopping experience into an uncomfortable one.
About them not packing ... Next time I go there I am going to gather up about $ 200.00 in merchandise. Now we all know that will be a ton of stuff... I am going to let the cashier ring it all up and place my Jack's bags on the counter... When the cashier finishes my order and won't pack the stuff, I 'm going to stand there and tell the cashier to CANCEL the entire order. And I am going to get two or three friends to do the same.
Then I am never going to shop their again. - 1486761822
4/5/2021For those folks who know about Jacks. It's a great place to find a bunch of stuff at various prices. The bad thing is that with the pandemic, the store is not as packed like sardines as it usually is. The good thing is that I was able to go aisle by aisle and see everything without the everyday madness and chaos. They stepped up on some of their products, prices went up on some items, looked like the third floor is gone. It's been a long time since I last visited this spot. Cashiers here are always nice and friendly.

3/16/2021Refused a service animal and asked for illegal documentation. I have a disability and was not allowed to enter because I did not provide documentation, which is illegal to request under ADA guidelines.

3/4/2021This is definitely a great store to shop in. I usually just shop downstairs and this place can get so busy. This place can be a hit or miss. Sometimes you might get a sweatshirt, some other clothing at a ridiculously low price. I also like to get some of their groceries. I love that I can get voodoo kettle chips, candy, cookies and bialys from here. They really sometimes just have some random foods at a great price and once they sellout its gone. I don't come here all the time but when I do come here its interesting to see what they offer.

4/24/2021Updated reviewThe returns cashier (#8), a mature woman, was one of the most unpleasant people I have dealt with at this store. I have shopping here for many years, and did a return. It was so unprofessional that you would think the refund was coming out of her own pocket. BTW - there is no problem when they are taking your money, only returning it.
I preferred the Jacks on 40th street but they have closed. I don't know who trains the check-out people, but #8 needs a course in manners and how to deal with the public.
2/21/2020Previous reviewThe store is fine as to products but the cashiers are the most unpleasant ever encountered. Are they trained to be that way or is it from the people who shop there? I go there at least 2x a week and to date, have NEVER had a pleasant check out experience. Train you employees to be nicer!!! It helps.
7/9/2016Previous reviewThe prices are good but the EMPLOYEES (check-out & returns) are SO RUDE & NASTY that it is almost not worth the shopping trip. I only go there is I am prepared to deal with the unpleasant employees. IF YOUR JOB IS CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT AT LEAST BE PROFESSIONAL!!!!!
Not sure I will ever go back!
