Hands down my favorite farmers market in the area. Great selection of produce, a number of vendors, and great options for grabbing a bite to eat. It can get crowded but covers a large space and definitely something for everyone.
What a great place to buy organic, fresh fruits and veggies! Pricey, but if you're into that organic stuff, then go for it. Most of the vendors here accept card, but you should definitely have cash as back up. Please, take some cash as back up. Learn from my mistakes. I would recommend getting here about 10-15 minutes before 8 AM so you can find a decent parking spot. It's also better this way because it isn't too crowded yet. My personal favorite is the pastry vendor (I totally blanked out on their name, but I believe they're from LA). I love their almond croissants. I buy 4 at a time so I can have some for the next week. There are also fast food vendors too, ranging from hot dogs, to potstickers, to donuts, to green juice, to kettle corn. Definitely give this farmer's market a go, you won't be disappointed!
Review for Kettle Corn Major Diarrhea (for 2 days) and painful stomach cramping after eating the KETTLE CORN. Wasn't sure at first so after two days, ate it again (but ate less amounts) and immediately our stomachs were cramping and churning so bad. Horrible gas horrible discomfort. Idk what the hell was in that kettle corn but it's the worst thing to go through and paid 6$ to suffer. Never again!! Fruits are good I paid $5+ for 2 Asian pears. 3.50/lb for Jujubes Avocados $4 each For $20 you go home with a few fruits and veggies for 1 or 2 people max. The bratwurst, gyros, they're $8 $9 each and small servings, you definitely need to not be on a budget.
I came around 9:45 am expecting it to be crowded, but the lines were fine. I barely waited when buying my food. However, I left around 10:45 am, and by then, I could definitely tell that the lines were getting longer. So, I would recommend people come earlier to avoid the lines, but you definitely do not need to wake up at 8 am. While I was here, I visited all the stores - they really have quite a diverse group of stands. People sold vegetables, fruits, succulents, jewelry, soaps, meats, dolls, clothes, and desserts. They even have live music playing and animal balloon artists to entertain the children. Definitely would recommend families to come here! The places I bought food from were Mama Musubi, Clayton's Doughnuts and Arnett's Farms. Everywhere else, I just tried samples, which to me was almost like its own meal because almost all the stands had samples. Mama Musubi sells omusubis, and I got the mama special and the barbeque beef omusubis. The mama special had bay shrimp and imitation crab, while the barbeque beef had thin slices of beef with caramelized onions and was topped with ginger. I personally preferred the barbeque beef one over the mama special, but both were great to eat. I've had omusubis from other places, and this one was on par with the other stores in taste and price (around $4). Clayton's Doughnuts sells vegan and gluten free donuts, which is just a cherry on top of their quality donuts. I got a mini donut ($0.50) because their bigger donuts are more expensive ($2.50) as well as much bigger. The donut was extremely dense and puffy - was well worth and half regretted not getting a larger donut. It was so good and it's vegan and gluten free! Note: They are cash only. Arnett's Farms sells lots of fruit, and they are all grown well. All the fruits were extremely sweet, and when you go, you can try all the samples before buying. The most interesting thing here were the pluots, which is a combination of plums and apricots. I had never heard of these things until coming to the Irvine Farmer's Market, so this was a surprise. They even make different pluots taste a certain way, which really baffled my mind. They had pluots that tasted like honeydew and cherries as well as other flavors. Of course, farmer's market prices are more expensive, but I believe it is definitely worth to spend a little extra money on their fruit. You can taste the difference between chain stores and the farmer's market. And I would definitely recomming people to come by to try their pluots - unlike anything I've had before. Definitely would recommend coming here, and I will be coming back.
This is totally worth waking up early on a Saturday morning! This farmer market is larger than most. It's located at Mariners Church where's there's ample parking. There's a variety of vendors selling fruits and veggies, flowers, clothing, and hot food. The produce vendors were all local and sell a large selection of items not usually sold in grocery stores. Fresh and mostly organic. There's cheap succulents as well. I strayed away from that now cause I don't have a green thumb. My favorite was the French pastries. Everything looked so bomb! I got something equivalent to a cream puff and it was delicious. Mama Masubi is also a popular favorite. They usually have the longest lines at the 626 Night Market. Skip the line and come here instead! Early bird gets the worm!
This place is great but come early because the vendors break down at noon. Produce is abundant and very fresh. They even have food stands to feed your hungry belly. Heck, bring the entire family and make a day out of it! It's a great place to spend an hour or two walking around and it's also great to get your weekly produce. Most of the farmers come from the Fresno area. I found white sapote for $2.50 / pound which was cheaper than the other farmer's markets I've been to. Definitely come check this place out.
I'm going to be completely honest I came by this farmer's market last Saturday for one reason: Mama Musubi. Ever since trying the musubis at the 626 night market I have been dying to have them again. Although I came here for the musubis I was very surprised to see such a great framer's market. They have a variety of vendors selling produce, fruits, flowers, bread, honey... you name it! They also have quite a few other food vendors. And they also had live music! I can see how this Farmer's Market can get pretty packed. However I feel like if you go later around 11-12 it is better because everything is dying down and the morning rush is over. I plan on visiting this farmers market again.
Very solid farmers market here in Orange County. There are probably around 50+ vendors here which is impressive for Farmers markets in this area. It's located at Mariners church which is very large and has a lot of parking. I suggest turning to the left and not parking in the lot directly next to the farmers market as it can get very cumbersome getting through that parking lot. Also bring cash, a lot of these places do not take cards. I would say this market primarily has produce vendors but there are some jewelry, clothing, flowers and plants as well. There are places to grab a bite to eat as well. I also highly recommend grabbing orange juice from the orange juice stand, it's amazing. The reason it doesn't get a full 5-stars from me is because I lived in San Luis Obispo and that farmers market will always be the quintessential farmers market for me. It can't be beat and is my 5 star standard, but this has been my favorite one down here so far.
For a long time the Farmers Market at Great Park in Irvine was my go to market on Sunday. Over the years I have seen it slowly erode because of mismanagement, the Irvine City Counsel banning the Antique Market, and a ban on dogs being allowed at the market (which was later lifted). Most of the good vendors have fled to other markets and it is about half the size of what it was when I first started going there. The only reason I keep going is because they have one vendor that has some awesome apples and pluots (plum and apricot hybrid). This farmers market ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=X2hPHlUQwFn0-NRvkxv3kw ) recently moved from the University Center parking lot across from UCI to the Mariners Church on Newport Coast Drive. It is open on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and it has twice the amount of vendors as the farmers market at Great Park. Because the market uses some of the church parking to accommodate the vendors, parking is limited, so I suggest showing up on the earlier side unless you like starring in your version of "Adventures in Parking." As with most farmers markets, over half the vendors were selling produce. The selection included everything from huge bags of oranges to individual Haas Avocados ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=qefYJUUkqjXYMQwUIDRvGg ) sold at better prices ($1.00 for a good size Haas) than you will find in any supermarket. Laina tried a sample the vendor was offering and found the avocado to be buttery deliciousness! The free sample convinced her to buy two avocados which was a great addition to the tuna salad she prepared for lunch during the week. You can also get you produce in liquid form ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=7hUjKWQaBnfrkJPUjPI5Xg ), this market has you covered. This vendor uses flash pasteurization to keep more color and flavor than other processes. I bought a pint of the apple, cherry and pomegranate juice and it was difficult not to chug the well balanced juice. Our next purchase was very cheesy ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=hh8vzKOwlDEE8PjrTFDXtA ) and equally delicious as our previous purchases. The vendor offered numerous samples and the better half and I finally settled on the Garlic Jack and Smoked Monterey Jack cheeses. Since the cheeses are organic, the prices are on the higher side ($9.00 for 8 ounces), but there is an offer for purchasing more than one cheese (we saved a $1.00 buying two blocks). No farmers market is complete without vendors frying, barbequing or baking some delicious food to munch on while walking the market. There are no food trucks here, but a good selection of stands selling a variety of cuisines. On this visit, we chose to try Degenhardt's Deli: ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=vEfqdHDcRjskI4xlC0wlpA ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=z4zK74Pn_2HPBfCsBaCVkw ) After trying a few samples, we settled on the Oktoberfest ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=yyrFiKqGw7m9_SqmeoW4tg ) Bratwurst and loaded it up with three different mustards. Laina said this was the first bratwurst she had actually enjoyed and would consider getting another in the future. Laina liked the mild mustard and I thought the sweet and spicy was an excellent compliment to the bratwurst. There are musicians at either end of the market: ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=wAFH8Z2J5x-IMkTuJJnT2g ) ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/irvine-farmers-market-irvine?select=-Sy6ZZDTxmnO3xI5ioNCyQ ) The background music is a nice touch and makes walking through the aisles a better experience. There is a kids train which roams around the parking lot and provides a break from wandering through the aisles of the market. The biggest detraction is that the popularity of the market outgrew the space available on our visit, the aisles get cramped in a hurry (it was difficult to avoid other visitors at times) and the lines for popular vendors can get long in a blink of an eye. Depending on how you feel about them, the lack of accessory / clothing / non-food vendors could be a blessing or detraction, so I will let you decide if this is a positive or negative. We also noted not all vendors offered samples, which is a Cardinal Sin in my book. The better half and I are of the same mind on this, if you are not offering samples at a market, you are not getting a sale from us! Rohlinism: You have to give a little to sell more! As a favor to the vendors, I suggest bringing recyclable bags to any farmers market and if you are an elite Yelper who attends events, you should have recyclable bags coming out your Yelp orifices! I will probably still go to the Great Park market for my fruit fix, but this is a good option for produce and some delicious bites.
By far one of the best farmers markets I've been too and let me tell ya this jolly fellow is an avid farmers market go-er. Great prices and a huge variety to choose from. Also a must stop is mama musubi.
Largest farmers market that i know of in the OC. Located at Mariners church, it has a large market section (several booths that has east asian produce, several bakeries) and also has food stalls where you can get cooked chinese dumplings, sausages, and gyro. Another farmers market to visit is the one in Orange near Chapman University. Best buy? 25 pounds of oranges or grapefruit for $10!!!
Mama Masubis are freaking amazing. Made to order, fresh seaweed, warm on the inside, what more can you ask for?!!! Husband loved the variety of freshly grown fruits and veggies. Would definitely come back for the masubi's alone! Also tried the freshly squeezed lemonade that was delicious as well.
We come here almost every Saturday morning to get breakfast! I highly recommend trying the German Bratwurst, it is delicious! I usually get the hot Italian with grilled onions and lots of sauerkraut. If you love corn as much as I do, then you should also try the roasted corn. They have seasonings and spices that you can put on your corn. There is a variety of vendors and the location is huge. The fruits and vegetables are super fresh and way cheaper compared to the grocery store. If you like flowers, there is usually three or four vendors out and the flowers here are beautiful. At the end of the day don't forget to get some kettle corn! It's only $6 for a large bag!
Irvine Farmers Market is one of the largest farmers market in Orange County. You can find anything from flowers to gyros. If you don't know what to do with your family on a Saturday morning, this is the place to be. You can sample almost everything, buy freshly made kettle corn, flowers and bread for the week. Two of my favorite spots to hit while here are: - California Cheesecakes In A Cup - The blueberry cheesecake is to die for. The consistency of their cheesecake is perfect. It sells out fairly quickly so i'd recommend you to hit the place early. My close second choice is the pumpkin spice. I am so glad they carry this flavor all year long! - Jean-Luc Labat - The kings cake (Galette des rois) is so beautiful. Their feuilletage is well made (pull pastry) and the almond paste on the inside is on-point. They don't always have this at the market, so my second choice is almond brioche. The sweetness of the brioche compliments the almonds so well. They also carry vegan croissants and organic bread.
The best farmer's market in Orange County. We are addicted to it. Unlike many other markets around the country, this particular one has lots of good deals. However, you kind of have to know which stands to visit and which one to ignore. Fruits and vegetables at several of the stands are better than those at Whole Foods. Most good looking stands accept credit cards. Some are not. FYI If you come with someone who can talk the stands' owner language, you get more discount :).
Best farmers market I've been to in Orange County. Plenty of stalls offering a variety of options. From baked goods, to hummus, to produce, to speciality honey and oils, to food stalls where you can get a gyro or roasted corn for a snack. Of course, produce is a little more expensive than you'd find in the grocery store, but hey, the quality is so much better. I came around 11AM and it was pretty busy. The crowd was a little overwhelming at times, but it definitely confirmed the success of this farmers market. Highly recommend this being your local farmers market!
This is hands down the BEST farmers market in OC. Great selection of produce and food vendors, spacious, ample parking and HUGE! Definitely worth a visit on a Saturday morning. You will walk away with bags full of stuff for cheaper than the grocery stores and you are supporting local farmers!
My one star review is based on an experience I witnessed with management. Don't get me wrong, all the vendors are extremely nice! As my first timer here, I was impressed by the size of this farmers market! There's a plethora of vegetable and fruit stalls. There are so many different types of food from bratwursts to gyros and to masubis. Let's get started on why I think management deserve a 0 star review (if only I could give it 0 stars). Upon ordering my pineapple BBQ chicken bowl, there were these two ladies who are patrolling to make sure all vendors were up to code. I understand that it is their job to do so but they were extremely rude to the vendor I bought food from. They insulted his clothes, pointed fingers at him, and they were doing so right in front of me (a customer!) As management enforcers, shouldn't they want to protect the image of the farmers market and not do so in front of a customer? I ate my delicious pineapple BBQ chicken along the curb by the stall, I saw the two ladies chastising him and pointing fingers at him again. Unfortunately I was in a hurry and couldn't report this to higher management but I am so disappointed by the actions of these two ladies and hope that they do not reflect what this farmers market is meant to be.
I went to the Irvine Farmers Market to purchase some "farm fresh" organic brown eggs because all of my friends wanted me to sample the eggs from the Farmers Market. I arrived at 8:15 AM on Saturday morning, shortly after opening time. I purchased a dozen large organic brown eggs from 2 different egg vendors. When I held one of the eggs (provided by each vendor), I noticed the eggs did not "feel cool" in the palm of my hand. No worries ... I knew the egg vendors needed to visibly display some of their eggs to the public, and would not be able to keep all of the eggs in a chilled container. After purchasing a dozen eggs from each vendor, I took both cartons of eggs home and subjected a random egg from each carton (sold by each egg vendor) to the "floating in a glass of water" test. The first egg floated above the bottom of the glass although it remained on its side in the floating position. That was an excellent sign. The other egg floated slightly higher than the first egg, but also remained on its side. That was a very good sign. Based on this simple "float" test, I concluded that neither egg had developed any significant air pockets (which would indicate a lack of freshness). Following the float test, I immediately scrambled an egg purchased from each egg vendor (in a separate frying pan). Each egg's yolk was yellowish, but not strikingly yellowish-orange in color. One of the eggs tasted better than the other egg. Overall, both eggs were reasonably flavorful. So, I opined both eggs were reasonably close to being "farm fresh." In conclusion (and based solely on my flavor preferences), the eggs from the Irvine Farmers Market were VERY GOOD (although they didn't seem to be as flavorful as the organic brown eggs I already purchase from other markets near my home - such as Vital Farms and Chino Valley Ranchers organic brown eggs). Of course, that's just my humble opinion. I did NOT buy anything else at the Irvine Farmers Market - so this review is solely for the organic brown eggs.
I absolutely love the Irvine Farmer's Market, more so now that it has moved to the Mariner's Church. More vendors, more room, more parking. It seems like less of a hassle for everyone! Plus it's in a elliptical so you can walk by and scope out every vendor. I come almost every Saturday with my boyfriend to scope out the fresh fruits and veggies. The colors of all the produce always make my eyes happy and my mouth water. We always stop by the Hummus Guy - "From UCI, come & try, ay ay ay!" and pick up some spreads - my favorite being the sun dried tomato roasted garlic. My boyfriend also always has to stop and grab some Orange Juice as well - come early or he'll run out. The GIANT donuts are delicious - I would recommend for breakfast if you're not on a health thing. Also stop by the cheese booth (the one with cheese curds) for some fantastic cheese! They take card, which is always a plus for me because I want to spend my cash on the other booths. Some booths are also super informative! My favorite being the Avocado Oil booth. Perfect way to start off any Saturday morning and get some Vitamin D.
