In-N-Out Burger

You really can never go wrong with In N Out! We honestly expected a less than stellar experience (at least compared to other In N Out locations) given that this one is in the heart of a heavy tourist area and crazy busy. Luckily everything was as good as usual!

My double double with grilled onions was perfectly built, with soft tender patties, sweet onions, and fresh veggies and the toasted bun. We ordered both fries as extra well done and they came out perfectly crunchy and crispy.

Service was friendly and fast and we only waited about 5 minutes for our food.

Finally got to an In-N-Out and as an east coaster...

Meh, I'm glad I got Shake Shack. That's all... This place gets enough reviews that I don't have to elaborate much more. Just not for me.

We landed in San Francisco and the first thing was taking an Uber to Fisherman's Wharf for In-N-Out Burger. Lately there has been an 'East vs West Coast' debate on whether Shake Shack or In-N-Out Burger is the better place so I wanted to try it even more.

Heard for decades how great they were and since there are none on the East Coast, we made a deal to make our this our first meal.  As soon as we walked it, we saw an employee taking fresh potatoes and making them into French fries in plain view. Knowing these were not going to be frozen fries reheated so expectation where high. We each ordered the regular cheeseburger animal style, fries and a soda. Was super surprised all came to less than $10 each.

Let me say upfront in both my wife's and my opinion, the burgers are really good. By far superior to McDonalds and the other major fast food places. The patties are about the same size as a typical McDonald's patty, so I would recommend getting the  'Double Double' which adds another patty and cheese. The bun on the burger gave it a really good overall feel and that held up well to the added 'animal style'. The fries were also better than most others aside from McDonalds. Thinner than I thought but had a fresh taste to them, just wish they were a little crispier. We really enjoyed our meal and it would be our clear preference over McDonalds or the other popular fast food chains.

Saying that, Shake Shack's single burgers are more complex in flavor (a custom blend of different beef cuts) served in a delicious potato bun and have a much larger single patty also. Their fries are larger and crispier also, leaving you fuller than IN-N-Out Burger.

But I don't think it's a fair comparison. I think a better way to compare Shack Shack would be to the more upscale and expensive burger chains like 5 Guys, BurgerFi or Super Duper Burger than to In-N-Out Burger. However, In-N-Out Burger is the clear winner in our opinion against the other fast food chains like McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's.

We stayed at the Courtyard hotel which is literally next door to this place. This is how we were able to come here right at the start of the lunch hour.

Great staff with friendly service. Providing the consistent quality of food expected at an In-N-Out. Cheeseburger animal style with chopped chili's. Well done fries and a strawberry shake. After this I was in food nirvana.

Absolutely love a In-N-Out Burger. Fresh crispy lettuce. Fries cooked to perfection. A cool and icy root beer. Makes the perfect night cap to an endless day on the city. The only con is the line. I wanted to order some more food but the line was too long and decided not to wait in it again.

Great location at Fisherman's Wharf. Very busy but we didn't have much trouble finding a seat and didn't wait too long in line either. It was between 1PM-2PM, still lunchtime. The service was quick and friendly despite any In-N-Out being literally swamped at all times. Our experience here wait times and service-wise was better than the one in Hollywood, LA. The cheeseburger was good and juicy, buns were soft, but nothing otherworldly special to be crazy for. The fries, however, were sad--better fries at Five Guys or even McDonalds in my opinion. Social distancing is definitely out of the window because of how packed any In-N-Out location is.

For how crowded this specific in-n-out burger was, I thought they did a great job keeping up with the lines and demand. This place is in a popular location but I never feel like I need to wait long for my food despite the crowd of tourists. Of course the food was spectacular. In-N-Out is such a great burger joint and I'm one of those people that prefers them over Shake Shack. Their fries + burgers are just the perfect combination for happiness. A small note to make that I particularly enjoyed: their beverages were self serve but the machine was touchless! Love that!

A throw back to days when I visited the Gilroy Outlets, In-N-Out Burger serves up the classics of beef burgers and fries. The question is what size burger? Fries or not?
Today, while passing along Beach Street in Fisherman's Wharf I succumbed to a nostalgic feeling and went to In-N-Out for some food to go.
Only a few people waiting to pick up their food. More staff than customers. For choices, I ordered a double double (yes, it was one of those days after being very good all week). Throw in an order of French fries too.
Got my order quickly! Then it was out the door to find a place to eat! I could not wait so I snacked on the fries. Yum!

The burger was hefty. The bun soft. The beef: nice and tender. There was head lettuce, a slice of tomato and onion; a Thousand Island sauce bound the flavors together . Nom nom !
This was a treat bringing me back to when I was a teenager. For sure, the In-N-Out burger is tasty and satisfying. I'll be back soon.

As a person from the east coast I've heard legends about in-n-out so I came in with somewhat high expectations for a fast food chain. The burger was good (similar quality to shake shack) but cheaper! Just don't come in expecting your mind to be blown. The fries however are terrible! Soft wilted and limpy how can anyone call these sticks fries? Don't make the same mistake I did and ask for extra crispy fries next time

amazing. as an east coaster, this was my first time at an in n out, and it was amazing. went at midnight with my girlfriend and got the animal fries and cheeseburger with special sauce: the food was amazing. my girlfriend, who is from california, even said this was one of the best in n outs of their life.
