Q:
Does anyone know what keto options they have, or if they will sub the rice for cucumber for their AYCE rolls?
A:
Hi! They were super nice to us.. I do keto and my son doesn't... I know the one chef there can but not sure if they all do.. he somehow shaved a cucumber super thin like paper abd used it like seaweed paper!! But I don't eat my rice so I can't… more

Are there any gluten free options?
A:
90% of sushi is gluten-free. There are a few exceptions. Of course some of the rolls that have tempura style shrimp or fish most likely are made with rice flour, however no guarantee it's gluten-free. One of the best options I could find, is the… more

Ambiance
.
The place is under remodeling on the exterior. The inside is still open for business. It is casual for inside which is nice to wear stretchy pants and eat until food coma.
.
Service
.
There was good service. The server came back and check all the time. We had our water refilled.
.
Food
.
Nigiri is great and we all loved it. The rice is small portion which is great. The fish was fresh. The highlights of nigiri was below.
.
Scallop
Tobiko
Squid
Salmon
Smoked salmon
Seared tuna
Tuna
Unagi
Ikura
Shooter - quail egg with tobiko
Upside down shrimp
.
Rolls - there were too many that were similar and drenched with sauces. What I mean by similar is different topping, but most roll had fried shrimp, crab meat inside the middle. Too much sauce on most rolls.
.
I really liked the veggie garden roll which consist of tomatoe, cucumber, avocado. No sauce
.
Handroll - the seaweed was tough and hard to digest so mostly spit it back out and place it on the side of the plate.
.
Sides
.
- Potstickers was a favorite.
- Fried tempura was no for the veggie option.
- Edamame was really good.
- Seaweed salad was refreshing.
- Chicken skewers was a no, the chicken was fried and over cooked like jerky. Sauce tasted spicy. But good.
- Baked mussels they loved it.
- Fried calamari - meaty and tender
.
Overall we the family liked it. I liked it too. It's a solid good sushi spot for buffet. We had a good experience and will be back. Hope this review helps. Thanks for reading. Have a yelptastic day.

FOOD POISONING!!!
My wife and her daughter visited on Sunday, March 24, 2024 for lunch. They both had sushi and both got severe diarrhea afterwards. They called the restaurant later in the day to let them know and their response, "We'll look into it but nobody else has complained." How many people does it take to get sick before you kill someone???
I've dined at this location in the past and the lackluster service and now bad experience from my wife will make me never go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 13, 2023
I've been here for two dinners in the last year. As a celiac, there are ways to enjoy a hibachi dinner with your friends. Ijji has taken some swings but the experience is generally a miss. Most recently, we were celebrating a birthday. We had waited about 20 minutes for our reservation and then were taken to a table. Our party of 7 took up most of the table, and the waitress had already brought our waters and started to take our orders when they rushed in another small party to be seated with us. This created a significant delay in getting things started for the table.
During the ordering process, I explained that I was gluten free. They said that my food would be made in the back and brought to me during the meal, which was totally fine. They brought out salads and miso soup to everyone at the table, including me. When I asked if they were gluten free they said that they didn't know so I just shouldn't eat them. Next, they brought out my entire meal while the rest of the table was still eating salads and the chef had not even shown up yet. So, here I was eating by my lonesome (we all know that these meals are best when they are still hot), waiting for the chef to come cook for everyone else. The timing was really terrible.
Once the show got rolling, our large party announced that we had a birthday. We were mostly adults with just two teens....however, there was a very small child in the other party and the entire show was focused on this child with very little attention paid to the rest of us. When they did go around and offer everyone the spray of sake to the mouth, the chef offered it to the teens as well and seemed confused when we told them that the kids weren't going to be drinking at dinner. The show was lackluster (particularly given that a member of a party used to be a Teppanyaki chef himself) and felt very rushed - probably because we started late due to their seating snafu.
At the end of the night, they did sing happy birthday and offer everyone dessert. They told me they had a special dessert for me. Instead of checking if any of the ice cream or mochi options were gluten free (mochi generally is), they brought me orange slices and doubled down on the disappointment.
Unfortunately, my first experience was very similar. Short of someone else requesting dinner here for their birthday, I don't see myself coming back for hibachi at this location. I did give it 3 stars because the food tastes good, but without the fun of the show, it wasn't worth the cost.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Feb 27, 2024
Food was amazing. The ambiance was good. The service was just ok. Our waitress wasn't doing much. The manger was doing more work. She was sitting at the bar next to some guy most of the time while we were here. So only 3 stars.

Ijji 2 is a solid 4 star experience rounded up for the novelty and fun you can enjoy here with the right group.
I took my son for his very first hibachi experience and it was a blast. He absolutely loved watching the live show right before his eyes. Our chef was particularly engaging with him and provided lots of extra attention to make sure he had fun. He loved the fire tricks and the "Baby sake" the most. The whole experience took about 30 minutes from the start of cooking, and it worked out well for us.
On the food, it's what you'd expect. You choose your protein(s) and your meal comes with soup, salad with ginger carrot dressing, shrimp or squid appetizer (3 shrimp or a few pieces of squid), hibachi veggies, steamed rice, which you can upgrade to fried rice (+$5), and dessert. I ordered the chicken with shrimp app and my son had the kids steak ($20) with squid app, and we both added the fried rice. The veggies were great, nicely seasoned and not overcooked, with a fresh crunch. After a dip or dressing in the ginger sauce, they were fantastic. The chicken and steak were both tasty but a little tough. That said, the portion sizes are nice and plenty to fill you up, and the service is friendly and attentive.
Being real, this is a pricey meal and I think you're largely paying for the show. The two meals with fried rice upgrade came out to $75 with a tip. The price of the fried rice really threw me off because it used to be part of the standard experience. Based on what my son eats, for the price, next time I will choose an upgraded set meal with a bit more variety and share it. That way we get better quality and will enjoy it a bit more.
All in all, a decent experience, especially with great friends or family. I never thought the upgraded meals at these types of restaurants were worth it, but it seems here they absolutely are because you'll get better qualityHelpful 9Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 1Aug 21, 2013Previous reviewSushi has been my favorite food since the age of 2, and when I moved to Reno I was stoked to find AYCE sushi as a part of the food scene! When we have out of town guests, taking them for sushi is a must. When our friends visited from NYC for the second time, they requested that we have AYCE, and we chose to try Ijji 2.
We were a group of 6, and my preference is always to sit at the bar so you can speak with the chefs, eat at your own pace, and get your sushi as it is made. So I called ahead to see if we could put our name down, and to my surprise, they were happy to do it! We arrived, the seats were ready, and the group decided they'd rather sit at a table. I WAS NERVOUS...
See I've never had a good experience eating AYCE sushi at a table, from soggy nori, to fish that's had a chance to glaze over, and servers who forget you are there, I've seen it all. I wanted my friends to have the best and Ijji 2 blew me away!
Our server, Juana, rocked! We were a tough group, with way too many special requests, but she handled them all perfectly and with a huge smile! She was supported by an incredible group of runners and servers, all helping each other provide the best experience possible to the guests, and even Truman, the passionate owner with unlimited energy, personally checked on us several times during our meal.
This is a place I will be back to again and again... the food is fantastic, the service incredible, and everything about it is a pleasurable experience. When you go, make sure to say hi to Truman and make him a friend of yours too! - Oct 10, 2023Updated review
My son came to town from Vegas and we decided to celebrate Christmas/New Year's late. This is always the place he chooses to have dinner when we can afford it lol. Tonight we just walked in without Colleen I have an reservation. It wasn't that busy.
One thing that kind of shocked me is when my wife and my son's girlfriend ordered teriyaki/a bocce dinner. The server asked if they wanted white rice or fried rice. Both girls wanted fried rice and there was an up charge for five dollars each person. Trevor didn't tell us. I mean when you order $46 dinner, a little tiny cup of fried rice shouldn't cost five bucks. The second thing is, we were a party of six. And the server put an 18% gratuity on the check. I know this is customary with eight people I've never seen it with six people. I had to ask for the menu, and sure enough there were some small sentence stating six people had 18 percent gratuity
What we ordered:
Two x Cadillac margarita
Baked mussels
Calamari
Assorted sushi
Assorted nigiri
18 piece sashimi dinner
Chicken teriyaki dinner
Hibachi steak and chicken dinner
Included was ice cream so we had a variety of chocolate vanilla strawberry and green tea
Dinner was quite good. The fish portions are actually quite generous. I've been to two mini all you can eat sushi places where the fish is paper thin. This is not the case here.
Still a favorite for all you can eat sushi.Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0Aug 14, 2022Previous reviewMy son was moving to Las Vegas to go to university, and he wanted to eat sushi for his last night here. I've only been here two other times, wasn't bad so I called ahead. They let us have a last minute table at 9:30 PM.
Very friendly people, quick service and of course they make a Cadillac margarita...
What we ordered:
Cadillac margarita
4 x AYCE sushi
Sashimi deluxe (18 piece)
We always start with the muscles appetizer as well as the calamari. We also ordered the quail egg shooters every time. After that we just try a bunch of different stuff. everything was good, part of our order got lost, I had to re-order some stuff but when it's all you can eat, there's really no worries about that.
Definitely will come back.Jun 12, 2022Previous reviewMy two oldest boys graduated from high school today. With out-of-town family visiting, we had to have a restaurant that could accommodate us all. My sons both requested sushi for their graduation dinner. I called about 11 AM and asked if they could accommodate a large party. The guy on the phone said no problem and gave me an option of 6:30 PM or 7:30 PM.
We arrived at 7:30 PM and they were able to seat us immediately. I requested a cocktail as soon as we sat down as The place was packed and sometimes takes a while to get a drink lol.
What we ordered:
Cadillac margarita rocks no salt
Sashimi platter 18 piece
Teriyaki chicken
Six all you can eat sushi including:
Hand rolls - special scallop, Krystal, yellowtail, Ocean fire, Wayne's
Long rolls- Caterpillar, Wayne's, Mountain, Baja, black Tiger, many many more.
For all you can eat nigiri:
Baked muscles
Quail egg shooters
Calamari
Upside down shrimp
Hot Nemo
Donatello
Dessert (included)
Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry ice cream and green tea ice cream. Also some mochi.
We had two servers helping us. Ruben and another. They were both taking good care of us. We ordered continuously through our to our visit. The servers make sure everything was taken care of. My margarita was knocked over and Ruben replaced it mediately. They were very efficient at cleaning the table with the spilt drink.
It was an overall enjoyable evening, good service and good quality sushi. Really good margarita. 18% gratuity was added since we had a large table, however I did add some cash on the side as they did a great job. We will return here. - 19142107Nov 29, 2023
I love Sushi as much as I love Pizza, so forgive me if my reviews seem repetitive in variety this month.
There were a few things though that I thought would've made our experience here at Ijji 2 better this past weekend. For example, not everyone here knows their rolls.
We had a server, Zion who himself would do a remarkable job citing the rolls and offering recommendations but we figured it were maybe the bussers who we ended up asking on one occasion that weren't sure what we got when they handed our rolls to us. The one guy would say San Francisco a few times for a few of the rolls, but it was okay. They were still delightful to eat! It serves one best to keep track. Our group ordered at least 12 rolls!
I generally have a Godzilla or King Kong Roll at whatever Sushi restaurant I go to when available and while I did here, I wasn't too impressed with either having ordered both. The batter wasn't as crispy and crunchy as I hoped for. I also wasn't a fan of the baked mussels. Not recommended. The flavor was lacking, it somewhat bland and I thought it had too much of a mayo flavor on their choice sauce.
Some of my favorite rolls however ended up being the Hawaii Roll which had a unique flavor with Asparagus, Cucumber and Mango topped with Tuna, Avocado and crushed Macadamia, the Jamaica Hot Roll which one could say is a little sweet having Strawberry and Kiwi in them, but rounded out with Spicy crab. The Sugoyaki roll has a unique flavor for a roll with Beef in it and finally any roll you'd call Tahoe is a classic. Crystal Shrimp, Cream Cheese and Avocado. It's simply a decent, roll. The portions were fairly large and filling, I'm usually a fan of smaller rolls, but today totally acceptable! I was hungry! LOL
I recall the environment being pretty normal in volume, plenty of space, comfortable seating and despite construction happening outside, still fairly busy.
All in all, I'd try them again in hopes of the next experience nailing all the high notes I usually look for in eating sushi. If you're looking for some decent size rolls with unique flavors, try ijji 2 one time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 398177530Jan 14, 2024
We chose to do the AYCE sushi menu, and ordered a bunch of nigiri, seared albacore, tuna, eel, salmon roe, tobaki, some hand rolls and a few regular rolls like dragon and snow. I think overall freshness was middle, not the worst in Reno but not the best, I prefer Pisces, miyabi, kuma & ohana. The seaweed wrapping was super super dry and the rice for the handrolls wasn't great, hard to eat actually it was so dry. Usually when I go to hand roll spots like kazunori the hand rolls are so buttery soft and melt in your mouth. The miso soup was too salty for my preferences. Price is super reasonable $33 per person for dinner!
Certainly the best value with AYCE is the nigiri, the rolls weren't great and are a worse crab meat and rice to actual fish ratio. Do not order any tropical type rolls, there were a few that had a weird strawberry sauce super sweet that didn't pair well with the sushi overall. Service was excellent and price is super fair! I think the quality needs a little attention and then ijji will be fantastic, especially good for bigger groups.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 27, 2023Updated review22 check-ins

Waited all day for my Costco same day order which was delayed ..
Luckily I have all my favorite menu items on my notes..
Hamachi Kama came out first, then the appetizers and lastly the sushi..
I love it when everything comes out timely, and food is hot.
Minus a star because lemon slices were requested and had to ask again..

I'll take advantage when I get an offer of " pick wherever you want for dinner"..
Starving and been wanting AYCE..
So good, walked in, and seated.
Service was fast!
Even got the hamachi Kama first before the sushi..
I'm probably the only one who keeps a list in notes on my phone of what to order!
5/5 tonight!Jun 6, 2020Previous reviewA very special dinner tonite, because this review will mark my 400th review!!
We arrived early for dinner 4:35 and there was a decent amount of customers.
Our first time dining here, and were quickly seated.
We didn't know they didn't offer bento boxes, so we got the AYCE...
The order sheets are different as the appetizers are on the menu.
Went with the cucumber salad, seaweed salad, tempura vegetables, edamame, and miso soup.
Miso soup hot and plenty of tofu. Only disappointment was the cucumber salad. Really disappointed, they should taste it before serving, because it was pure vinegar, not even a hint of sugar...tempura veggies, were okay. Could of been cooked longer on the sweet potato.
Ordered: unagi, the shred and maguro nigiri.. all outstanding! The dragon, and the train-baked roll all superb!
We also ordered, the hamachi Kama, and it was too dry and served with a tonkatsu sauce that does not taste good with it.
Service was good and the place started filling up fast.
So glad we came here and definitely will be back.
