Iggies

I've heard good reviews of the pizzeria and I was quite eager to try for myself. That said, maybe my expectations were too elevated because there isn't much to say other than Iggies sells some really underwhelming, bland pizza. I was shocked at how much the pizza lacked in flavor. The cheese was nothing special, sauce had no taste, and while they don't skimp out on meat toppings, the meat did nothing to help the pie. Although the venue was reminiscent of an old Napoli pizzeria and the crust was crisp and thin, those 2 delightful aspects didn't help the overall taste of the pizza.

Delicious pizza and salad, totally fresh, and kind efficient service. Memorable! And my wife and I are pizza snobs from New York. By the way, she is gluten-sensitive and she delighted in the four-cheese gluten-free pizza. My Diavola was spicy and flavorful.

The crust is the best! Love that ambiance. It's very kid and pet friendly. Quick service and the owner is very friendly.

Back to how I remember Iggie's, with even better service. We came, unannounced, with a group of 8 including three young kids. We couldn't have had a better experience! The man working was so nice and engaged our kids to keep them entertained and busy, while providing excellent service to us. He brought out a complimentary parmesan crust with olive oil and parmesan dip. He got us waters while we caught up with each other, engaging our 8 year old to bring them to the table. He gave us a side of anchovies and some ranch, and gave our 8 year old a piece of cake for helping. Such a great experience, and a great memory for our children. Will definitely return!

Ambiance: Very casual pizza place with order-at-counter style, and casual vibes. It isn't usually too crowded, so it is easy to get a seat, and it is not too loud either. I am also always tempted to get pizza here when I walk down the street as you can just smell the fresh pizza every single time as you walk by. There are a ton of dog photos on the wall, and I postulate that the restaurant might have been named after a dog-loving owner -- but I'm not sure!

Service: If you're dining in, you order at the counter and the food comes to you. You can get water at a cooler, and you put away your own plates/utensils when done. Overall no complaints.

Food: I almost always get the funghi/mushroom pizza. It is SO satisfying, delicious, warm, crunchy, and flavorful every single time. It is a pizza blanca, so not ideal if you're looking for more of a tomato sauce, but I don't care because it's delicious. The mushrooms are always flavorful (although I would love more!) and I quite enjoy the mix of the mozzarella spread across the pizza and topped with specs of goat cheese. It all hits together for a nice crunchy umami-packed bite. Even when I get takeout, I can't help but eat a slice on the way home to ensure I've enjoyed at least one freshest slice possible. As a vegetarian, I enjoy the attention to this delicious pizza.

I've been going here since Fall of 2018 and plan to continue going back.

I love it here. Their cordial hospitality and warmth is rare in today's culture. I feel as if I have been transported to Gaeta on every visit, one of my best summers. They are exceedingly welcoming. It helps that I also love their pizza. It's delicious. You will never be disappointed here. They are my go to.

Great pizza is back at Iggie's! The new people running the restaurant could not be nicer and more accommodating. My only fear is that the restaurant will get too busy and it may be difficult to get a table for dinner! So great to see so many customers enjoying the food and atmosphere.

They got too many delicious pizzas! The management changed a month ago and I really recommend it. New owner Mehmet also offered us some tea and it was pretty cool. We don't see that stuff anymore in Baltimore... His pizza style was exact same as the pizza I ate in Rome, Italy. Inside is pretty big we never felt tight lol Ambiance is pretty good and bathroom was clean! Congratulations to you Mehmet and thank you for your kind service to us!

Glad to be back at Iggie's! The new owners are lovely people and the pizza is fantastic!

Met some friends here and had a delicious meal, margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza. Large pizzas were affordable, the vibes inside were lovely and chill. Talked with the owner a little and he made us feel right at home. Highly recommend

Iggies has definitely the best pizza around in Mt. Vernon! Always made sure that we had everything we needed, including free water bottles for the table. Very cozy and inviting, definitely will come back here with my husband!
