Catching up on Yelp reviews.
This is for a spontaneous cafe visit on 9/9/18, one of those compelling Yelp bookmarks!
Pulled on clothes, brushed teeth, pinned hair up, grabbed the Sunday paper, and made a beeline from Shoreline to this indie cafe in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood.
I ordered a no frills mocha and a pain au chocolat (from Macrina) from the cafe proprietor. Long time Seattle resident, knows Leslie Mackie from Macrina, and after hanging out for two hours clearly his cafe is a neighborhood destination. By car, by foot, by bicycle, with a stroller, with a dog, or both...a cross section of folks came through for coffee, pastries, or a quick check-in chat.
I was able to read the Sunday paper, savor breakfast, and soak up the warm sun rays at the front window counter. Again, I ask myself, why can't Shoreline have more indie cafes like HUB Coffee.
I'll see next month if I have the same experience with a visiting out of state Yelper in tow.
Highly recommended!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Feb 28, 2018First to Review
What a wonderful new coffee house that's opened up in Magnolia! Serving delicious brew and sweet treats to get your morning off on the right foot!
Driving to work the other day, I noticed the signs along Dravus and 20th leading me towards HUB . . . and boy am I glad that I saw them. This is a great new place for anyone looking for that morning or afternoon treat. I got a large drip coffee for my first order and it is super good. Full flavored, yet smooth and satisfying. The beans they use are of high quality and make a great cup o' Joe! They have the full selection of espresso drinks to chose from --- so next time I stop in, I'll try some of my other favorites (mocha, latte, americano).
Additionally available is a good looking selection of loose leaf teas! That's a big plus and draw for me and my wife, as we're tea buffs as well and love to find places that actually do loose leaf and not just low quality bags of tea! Huzzah for HUB on that note!
I also got one of their baked goods (who can pass that up?). I'm not sure how to describe it, but it tastes great! It's kind of like a mix between a sugar cookie and a scone w/ a fresh blueberry topping. Moist, sweet, chewy . . . oh, so good! They also have croissants and muffins to pick from as well. Will have to try one of those next time too.
Atmosphere wise, it's a very welcoming environment and the employees are nice and polite. It's very clean and minimalist inside, with about 5 tables or so and feels modern yet comfortable.
My only wish is that they opened a bit earlier. With a 7:00am opening during the week and 8:00am on the weekends, that seems a bit late for a coffee shop. Especially during the week, many days I'm already at work by 7:00 and not able to stop in on my way. Regardless, HUB is a wonderful addition to this section of Magnolia that doesn't really have a high quality coffee house like this . . . but alas, now it does and life is good!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 18, 2018Updated review
Note: skip the matcha latte. It's ver grainy

I live very close so it's so nice having a coffee shop I don't have to drive to! It is open, minimalistic style, and clean! I was welcomed with a smile and a "good morning" which I love. The gentleman was a tad confused when I asked for a 12oz macchiato, but the young lady cheerfully asked if I would like it in a latte style. She saved the moment! Currently sipping on it and it's delicious. They were so nice to do it in my personal travel mug to reduce waste, which I love. I also snagged a yummy chocolate croissant which she warmed up and it blew my mind! I can't wait to come back and try some of their loose leaf teas

Friendly baristas, greet coffee, calm and trendy ambience. Free WiFi, street parking with 2 hour limit but residential parking one street over. Great place to work. Owner even stopped to chat!

I wish I live closer to Magnolia, otherwise I'd likely stop by this cute coffee shop on the regular. This place is still relatively new, and so it's not so crowded, which I love. I ordered an americano with an extra shot of espresso because I was in dire need of caffeine.
Then, I ordered a turmeric ginger tea, because my body needed. And it was exactly what the doctor ordered. I asked for a 16 Oz, and it was perfect.
This place is perfect for working or studying, and the music is perfect volume (not too distracting and perfect ambiance).
I would definitely recommend. Check it out!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 410448Jan 4, 2019
Quite a surprise to find such a great coffee shop in a residential area. The cappuccino and expresso both are very well made and the prices are very good too. There are a few tables where you can sit and work, read the paper or serf net. Not sure if they have internet. They do have a few nick knacks to munch on. Great to have places like this spring up offering an alternative to over-priced Starbucks.

I'm so glad this place opened since the Starbucks on Dravus closed its doors. I enjoy coming in on weekends because the line is short and the owner is usually the one who crafts the beverages. The pastries are delicious, so snag one when you can. I can't say much on their loose leaf teas, but I've never had a bad 12oz cappuccino. There's street parking out front and you can always find a spot, if not there's parking across the street. HUB uses clover, use your phone number to receive stars--11th one is free! Stop by if you ever get the chance!

This coffee shop is as pictured in the first photos. Modern, minimalistic, industrial interior with a few plants. Quite a bit of seating available considering the size of the shop. It seems they're still navigating the best way to do things - prices aren't listed on the menu and there were multiple types of mocha syrups (powdered, liquid, etc) while they figure out which kind works best.
The person in front of me ordered a latte which the Barista created beautifully with latte art. I ordered an americano which didn't look quite as cool but was good. There was also a selection of pastries and loose leaf teas. I'm looking forward to seeing how this place evolves over time and will return.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sabrina B.Seattle, WA798Jul 13, 2018
Love HUB coffee!! Wonderful service =) Delicious coffee and a great vibe! I got a cold brew which was perfect for a sunny day, my friend got a mocha which was SOOOOO good! Plus, the owner let me take a cutting of his spider plant, so now I have a brand new plant!!
So pleased that they've opened up in the neighborhood! Will be stopping by regularly =)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mariana P.Seattle, WA121096Jul 14, 2020
This was a huge loss for Magnolia - I really loved this shop, its eclectic set of baked goods, super tasty avocado toast, and dog-friendly atmosphere. I don't know if the future holds another shop for the lovely owner, but I really hope so.
