Has this place really closed?!! I cannot find another place that sells smothered burritos like HRD. It was one of a kind. I used to drive from San Jose to SF to eat their burritos. Eggplant Katsu was the best!! I wish they reopen so I can go and indulge in those smothered burritos again.

My office placed a big order here via Grubhub for a bday lunch. I'm talking 10 burritos, 3 sandwiches (banh mi and po boys), 1 order of their tacos and a curry platter. Usually when my office does a big order via grub hub or door dash from other restaurants, we always ALWAYS have things missing or order preferences are incorrect, but not here at HRD. I give them brownie points for getting all of our orders right and going the extra mile to label our names on them. Everything was delivered on time and still warm.
I ordered their smothered burrito with 'crispy chicken', but really, it's chicken katsu. It was pretty bready which I didn't like, I wanted more chicken. The burrito was a good size to make you full and I was able to finish it in one sitting. I asked for my curry sauce to be on the side so it wouldn't be messy during the transportation. I received two sauces with my order; red and orange. I thought the red would be spicy and it wasn't. I drizzled a bit of all 3 sauces onto my burrito as I ate and it was good but not mind blowing. I requested sour cream but there was only a small sad dollop of it.
The burritos are pretty expensive if you order online, I don't know if the prices are cheaper in-person but damn. Burritos were $17 and up. and the smothered burritos started at $20. My coworkers did enjoy their lunch though and no complaints but it's nothing to write home about. Honestly, it's nice to try out once but I don't think I would go out of my way to try them again unless somebody pays for me.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 8, 2023
HRD is a Korean fusion burrito restaurant that has received mixed reviews on Yelp, and for good reason. While my experience was good overall, I have to agree that it wasn't quite spectacular.
The menu at HRD is standard for Korean fusion, blending Korean and Mexican flavors in interesting ways. I ordered one of their signature burritos, which was filled with bulgogi beef, kimchi fried rice, and a variety of vegetables. While the flavors were good, I didn't find it particularly memorable. The restaurant itself is pretty small and simple, with a casual vibe that's good for a quick meal. The service was friendly and efficient, but nothing particularly outstanding.
Overall, I think HRD is worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for something different, but don't go in with extremely high expectations. It's good, but not quite worth raving about.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 22, 2022
This place is solid for Asian fusion food! They have Asian inspired proteins including panko-crusted shrimp, wild cod katsu, tuna poke, and bulgogi beef.
We came here after the Warriors championship parade and even though there was a long line, we were able to get our food within 25 minutes which was great even with the big crowd.
I got the Smothered Burrito with Shrimp Katsu. The "smothered" part is a Japanese curry sauce which was really tasty with the burrito. The burrito comes with brown rice, kimchi, and panko Shrimp which was crispy and hot. A pretty big burrito and really tasty! Would definitely come back again if in the area.

Location: South Park has plenty of spaces for free parking as long as you're not visiting during a Giants game. It is walking distance to Oracle Park.
Service: the inside is very clean with quick and friendly service. We got our order faster than expected.
Food: there's so many options of protein and type of food to choose from. Fusion food can be a hit or miss, but HRD does it well. They also have Mexican coke ($3) and other sodas available.
* Crispy Chicken Smothered Burrito ($16): this is a burrito filled with rice, kimchi, and panko-crusted fried chicken. My initial impression of this was that it is quite hard to eat, as the burrito was laid in a pool of curry. I ended up using a fork and knife to keep my hands clean. The curry was so so good and I wished we had more. The kimchi was very delicious with an overpowering sour tang. The chicken was quite crunchy and tasted really good dipped in curry.
Overall, the prices are higher than what a normal burrito would be, and I wish there was a bit more curry, but this is a great option for a quick lunch or pre/post-game meal. I definitely plan to come back and try the other plates.

We to HRD for a quick lunch, after looking at the different reviews and getting excited for a unique burrito! Once there you basically order and get a number til someone brings you out the food. We ended up getting:
*chicken katsu burrito with the katsu sauce - personally I thought this was okay, felt that the burrito could use a bit more flavor or sauce but the chicken katsu was crispy which was nice
*curry fries with chicken - these were also okay, but I did enjoy them with the curry sauce a lot. The chicken was also tender
Overall, if you want Asian fusion food it's a good try.

This is a really neat little restaurant, super close to the chase center! A wonderful choice if you're heading for a game or event there! I ordered the burrito with grilled chicken and loved it! So many unique flavors and they really loaded it up with meat and toppings! Highly recommend checking this place out!

I have been a regular here pre-pandemic. Specially drove 1 hr just to have smothered burrito and this time dragged spouse along.
The taste remains the same. The place was completely empty for a change due to holidays + Covid era!
I absolutely like the katsu curry. We had smothered burrito with fried chicken and curry platter with wild cod.
Took kimchi on side which was liked by the wife.
For her cod tasted better than burrito. I will just remain the fan of my regular order forever!
Always appreciate hooks to hand your belongings! Thumbs up for that!

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'm so glad I did! It's a twist of Korean and Mexican food in one! I came here on a Monday right at opening so it was no wait. The ordering process is super convenient and you can order everything online! The sucky part might be is parking. I noticed many of the meters close by were loading zone only so just be careful!
Anyways, my sister and I shared the Bulgogi burrito and it's a pretty meaty burrito and will get you full! I definitely would love to try other burritos again or perhaps some yummy tacos!

I remember when the food truck craze started. Everyone wanted to be the next Kogi Taco Truck from SoCal. The Creme Brulee Guy was serving out of a literal cart on Mission. Boom. Then there was HRD. One of the popular fusion Korean spots to go to in SF and glad they're still around.
I used to work a few blocks away and frequented this spot for lunch and I always picked up one of these beef bulgogi kimchi burritos to bring to the ball game
Great flavor, generous serving of beef and that Wasabi sauce adds another level.
