9/5/2021We were in the mood for Thai and Hoy- Ka stood out. Located on Sunset, arrived around 1 on a Thursday afternoon for pick up. Online ordering was seamless. Parking-they have a limited amount of spaces in the back or street parking.
Feels more like a cool bar vs restaurant. I would return for a cocktail (although it appears they don't serve alcohol) & noodles!
We ordered the spring rolls (#3) for appetizer and for Main, Pad Thai with Shrimp (#35) & Pad Si Eiw (#37) with chicken.
Spring Rolls were tasty filled with fresh veggies and loved the peanut and hot sauce.
Pad Thai was some of the best we've had and was medium spiced as ordered. Pad Si was also excellent with plenty of flat noodles and seasoned chicken!
Order was ready when promised and friendly people at pick up area.
Now my spot for Thai food in LA! - Becky B.San Diego, CA1165422
8/27/2021The last star would be earned with an alcohol license.
The food was off the hook. They have Thai spicy scale so 5 spicy is just hot enough and comfortable enough. It was perfect. We order chicken lawn, chicken satay, pad see ew with shrimp and red curry. It was all so flavorful and delicious. The pictured I got was toward the end of our meal because I was so hungry and into the food I didn't take pictures until after. Which I suppose is how it should be :)
The staff was wonderful too. I had a three yo picky son who had ants in his pants the whole time. They were so kind with him. Thank you! - Sherri B.Woodland Hills, CA3726553
8/26/2021I just found the best Thai restaurant on the planet! The owner is so very sweet he welcomed me in the restaurant from the back door in Hollywood on Sunset. Parking can be tricky! He was so very gracious he shared me with the dish that won the world championship!
Massaman curry is a rich, relatively mild Thai curry. Being a fusion dish, ingredients popular among Muslim traders from Persia, the Indian subcontinent, and the Malay Archipelago were brought to Thailand and combined with ingredients more commonly used in native Thai cuisine to make - 37769237
8/16/2021Synopsis: Wonderful vegetarian friendly (has meat as well) Thai restaurant located on the cusp of Hollywood and Thai town. Reasonably priced and a good location for delicious Thai Food before going to events in the area like Hollywood Bowl and Pantages.
I am finally write a review after my last takeout experience. This wasn't my first time here though. I went here with a small group prior to a Game of Thrones in concert at the Hollywood bowl a few years back and had another really wonderful experience. Great service nice atmosphere and I believe if I remember correctly we ordered the Tom Yum soup, Jade noodles, larb, and pad Thai among a few other things I can't remember. Pretty standard/basic ordering but they did everything so well.
My friend wanted to eat vegetarian the night i went by for takeout recently so I stopped by to grab some noodles with tofu. Super easy to order even though I didn't order it in advance and it was ready very quickly. I don't know how they do it but that tofu tasted like delicious barbecue. It was so good. Like 'this might be my favorite Thai restaurant in Thai town' good.
The prices are slightly higher than some of the other places deeper into Thai town but I think the prices are still great and worth the extra incremental amount you are paying.
This restaurant is definitely on my shortlist of places to go when I am ready and want to see a musical at the Pantages or go back to concerts at the Hollywood bowl. And during this time, it's a great place to get takeout if you're still not comfortable dining out due to the pandemic. - 2214632
9/14/2021I order via DoorDash during my lunch and have the yellow curry delivered to me. I've had a great experience every time. The taste is absolutely delicious and worth it! I also got the wontons, minus 1 star because they were undercooked! But overall, yummy restaurant!

9/21/2021The best boat noodles in Los Angeles, without a doubt. I also love their duck soup with egg noodles is one of my favorites, the broth is sooo rich and savory, with herbs and spices. For the first time, I tried the sweet and sour chicken with chicken satay that i ask on the side, and also ordered one more order to-go the chicken was overcooked by the time I got it home, but overall, this is a dish that is best eaten immediately away.

6/27/2021Updated review2 check-insAfter years I finally agreed to give this place another try and I'm glad that I did. Everything tasted better!
We ordered thai boat noodles, western sausage, crispy pork, duck pad see ew, pork ka prao, and mango sticky rice. Everything was good, my favorite dishes were the pork ka prao, pad see ew, and mango sticky rice.
Pork ka prao was really tasty, the ground pork meat was tender, went perfectly with rice. Pad see ew is my all time favorite Thai noodle, I always get pad see ew with duck. The pad see ew today was really good, the duck meat they used was lean and all in big pieces, the rice noodle was soft, the dish was flavorful.
The mango sticky rice was definitely one of the best ones I've had. Mango was sweet although I wish the pieces were bigger (I had to turn the plate to make them look bigger than they really were just so I could take a decent picture) the sticky rice was sticky topped with coconut milk, it was perfect.
The service was good, our waiter was really nice, he gave me napkins! Haha (a lot of place are really cheap with their paper napkins)
We will definitely be back soon!
6/4/2017Previous reviewCame here for dinner. My friends and I weren't impressed at all. We ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp, minced chicken with string beans, two noodles dishes and a duck curry. Everything was a bit salty, nothing was good enough for me to even write about. Personally I don't think this place is authentic at all.
The service here wasn't good either, our waiter wasn't very friendly. I ordered a coconut drink, half way through our dinner I had to remind him. He never came by to ask how our dinner was, and whenever we asked for something he just didn't say anything in respond. (Keep in mind this was someone who speaks perfect English)
I probably will never come here again. - Daisy A.Los Angeles, CA0918
9/18/2021I found this place on Yelp and wanted to introduce thai food to my friend. Sadly this was not the place I wish I had taken her to. The female servers were rude and ignored us. The male worker there was kind, so we are grateful he paid attention to us. I do not recommend buying extra noodles because it's a lot and when I asked if I HAD to add meat (which was extra money) to my yellow curry the server said yes (which doesn't make sense because they said they welcome vegetarians). Also, my friend's JADE noodles had a black hair in it. Though, I will add that the jade noodles, tom kha, and tom yum were decent and the curry was good.

5/16/2021Food: I ordered the Pork Pad Thai ($15) and Vegetable Egg Rolls ($9) for pickup, both of which were yummy and traveled well. The pad thai was tangy with the right balance of sweet and sour. The veggie egg rolls were nicely fried and crispy without being too oily. Plus you get 6 of them and they are a decent size.
Service: Normally when I order food for pickup through Yelp/Grubhub I receive a text when my food is ready but the text never came. Thankfully I took it upon myself to go to the restaurant since when I checked out it gave me a rough idea of how long it was going to take. Upon arrival, I noticed a couple of to-go bags on a table but I followed the signs and waited to be helped. I was literally standing in front of the cash register while multiple servers used it but no one engaged me. So I waited. Someone did help the people waiting to be seated behind me so I figured someone would let me know when they had a moment to help me. Eventually, I had to say something to someone who begrudgingly looked at the three to-go bags on the table, found mine, handed it to me, confirmed my order, and walked away.
Perhaps this is on me for not grabbing someone sooner. Having been in service, I know it can be super annoying and frustrating for people to try and get your attention when you have a ton of orders to deal with.
Long story short, I strongly suggest to those who choose to pickup their food - tell someone that you are there for pickup as soon as you get there. If you don't you maybe be waiting a very long time. - 203157141
4/14/2021The food came out fast. Loved the presentation and location and decore. They only reason the stars are 3 is because the food was really bland. It was better once I add the sauce from the egg rolls to my Pinnapple Fried Rice.
The decor was authentic to the food. The bamboos gave it an earthy feel. There is outdoor and indoor eating. Two lapse on service (they said they had honey for my hot tea the said they did not and when I ask for it the person continued to wipe table and do other things before getting the items before tea got cold.) the eggs rolls were really good and the dipping sauce was bomb.
