3/12/2011Now next to a starbucks, I've eaten a this place every weekend while at Purdue.
The food not only taste awesome but you get the best bang for your buck! The crispy chicken and the pho are top notch! A must get if you go there. The crab ragoon are the best I've ever had. I still compare other places cram ragoon to theirs.
Servers are friendly and helpful too!

For the middle of NOWHERE that is Lafayette, this is decent. The best thing by far on their menu is the crab rangoon. I haven't had it as good anywhere else as it is here. The twice cooked pork and hot-n-sour soup are also decent. I agree with John that in comparison to bigger city Chinese, this place is rather lackluster. As far as Indiana fare goes, this place is good. Sad but true.
3/25/2008Previous reviewThis is the best place for Chinese food in Lafayette. Try the cold rolls and the crab rangoon when you come here. Really good hot and sour soup too.

11/20/2011Friends and I recently tried House of Saigon for dinner. I thought it was decent, but not amazing. The food was pretty good, but slightly on what I would consider the expensive side. No egg roll or soup was included with any meal. The service was also somewhat below what I would have liked.
On the positive side of things, I found the Vietnamese specialties unique and interesting. I would like to go back to try some of those. Also, if I'm ever in the area at lunchtime, I will try one of their lunch combos which are reasonably priced.
1/5/2011Ask a Vietnamese about a good Vietnamese place in Lafayette-West Lafayette area and you'll be referred to this place. I agree whole heartedly.
South East Asian food in my experience is a beautiful synthesis of "Indian" and "Chinese" styles with a secret added magic to it and the food at this place hints at that magic.
Its reasonably cheap (about $10) and with huge portions it takes care of a hungry person quite well. They have the usual stuff like curries and fried rice that you expect from such a place and they are spiced to optimum. South East Asian food has to be spicy, I mean, that precisely is the whole point of it, so order a high spice level here!!
I always order chicken wings with chilli sauce here. Its an excellent appetizer which warms you up for the main course. My favorites are the kariga, beef stew and the singapore fried rice. The other stuff are good as well.
Service could be a bit inconsistent sometimes. I've had both happy and not-so-happy episodes here. But I have no complaints.
Recommended.
2/8/2012Do not order pho here. Gag. Maybe stick to the Chinese side of the menu.

Have tried places around town and none compare . This is family owned and the quality is awesome . Recommend the cold rolls with peanut sauce -- shrimp fried rice-- really anything will be good . Crab ragoon is the best!
1/15/2010I stopped by House of Saigon for lunch today dreaming of light, flavorful Vietnamese fare. Their lunch menu is pretty limited, and nothing really looked that good. The cold rolls w/ peanut sauce were okay (I've had better), but the chicken pho was really bad. It could not have lacked any more in terms of taste and aesthetics. Very bland... nothing like the pho I'm used to in LA and elsewhere. And for $7.50? Eek! Methinks not.
8/23/2008House of Saigon takes the cake for good Chinese food in Indiana. The yu-ling duck is tasty as well as the crab rangoons and cold rolls as mentioned in the first review. My boyfriend is also a fan of the fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. It's a quaint, family-owned restaurant. Give it a try!
5/29/2010I moved to West Lafayette from Seattle and it took me a while to find a good Asian restaurant here. House of Saigon has the best Chinese food in Lafayette area. Seafood hot and sour soup, yu-ling duck and crab rangoons are VERY delicious here.
4/20/2011The food was good. The owner is very nice. Unfortunately, the waiter was not good. My favorites are crispy chicken with tomato rice, pan fried noodle with pepper spare ribs, combination fried rice. My friends like to order the laksa, com tam ga, and flat rice noodle. This is one of the best restaurant in town.
