** This review is based on the new Falafel Burrito**
When attempting to create a Falafel Burrito, there are a few important things:
1. gotta know how to make actual Falafel. Honest Tom's? Check.
2. Ya gotta know how to make a solid burrito base. Honest Tom's? Check.
3. A tough one. How does one fuse the classic burrito taste with the strong flavor of Falafel? I. Don't. Know.
Honest tom's made a brave attempt at this feat. It was a very tasty burrito, but I was wish there was more of a corn salsa / guac like flavor to it. That's really it!
The falafel itself wasn't over cooked nor did the ingredients present lack any flavor. Overall it mostly tasted like falafel in a burrito wrap. Like if you were making falafel at home and you were like "Dang it, I ran out of pita! Oh well, I guess I'll use these burrito wraps." It kind felt like that.
Not that it wasn't tasty!
Trust me I will be eating this again!Helpful 29Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0Jul 13, 2016Previous reviewwhen honest toms started to get popular, i figured at some point the quality of the food would dropped off a little because yanno...that's what most popular places do after a while. But not honest toms. It's still pretty awesome and the season food is such a good idea. I love the burritos but even they can get a little redundant like the 13th season of greys anatomy. No shade i swear. you happen to be in West Philly I suggest stopping here.
Sep 10, 2014Previous reviewTo be HONEST i haven't had a better burrito anywhere else. All the ingredients are super fresh. And they tease you by occasionally putting the fish tacos on the menu. The service is fast, the outside seating is very cool and the breakfast burrito gives me life. Indoor seating is lacking but whatever. Small stuff. 8 bucks goes a long way there!

My boyfriend took me to Philly for my birthday. Since my birthday falls on National Taco Day, we definitely had to get some tacos. Glad to find this plant based taco spot.
We ordered the chucken, carbacoa, sweet potato, and biff tacos, sweet potato burrito and some nacho chips. Loved every single one them. It was so good. Tacos were flavorful. Love love it. The portions were great. I was so full after leaving here. Service was fast, also with friendly staff. Wish they have a spot in New York. Definitely will come back if I'm ever in Philly again.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 4074531580Sep 22, 2018
Delicious food!
This place is entirely vegan and has great prices! (Relative to Chipotle)
I ordered the sweet potato burrito with all the fixings. It was delicious! We loved trying all of the different hot sauces as well. My friend ordered the fish less tacos and loved them! She's a meat eater and was super impressed. She's gone back a few times just for those tacos alone. I still need to try them. My other friend ordered the nachos with just the cheese, she's a picky eater. The nachos were super delicious! The cheese sauce was a little spicy and super creamy. Next time I'm getting the nachos with all the toppings!
I'm definitely coming back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 25, 2018
They're going vegan ("plant based") in July, so get your meat while you can. Makes sense why they denied my request for sausage and bacon in a burrito on several occasions lol. Everything is cooked in front of you, which is a plus, and guac is free.
Before their switch, figured I'd make my review! The sauces on the table are awesome, but also necessary. Seasonings in the burritos are minimal, so hoping that switching to veggies will encourage them to add more bright spices or flavors to make it taste. Just a basic taco/burrito joint with fresh ingredients, but my mouth never remembers much of a specific flavor. Would pay to buy their halloween sauce though, the green one is fabulous!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 8, 2018
Came twice in 2 days because my friends made me. There are a lot of fervent followers of Honest Tom's so I was really curious to see what's what.
Day 1: I came late afternoon looking for a snack, so I ordered a chicken taco. Guac was delicious, chicken was very dry. The soft taco shell was great -- I think it's made fresh there. Price was good at $3.50 and it was an above average taco! But overall I was unimpressed. (The outdoor seating is really nice in spring weather btw.)
Day 2: came early at 11am for brunch. Ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage. Be warned that this is a thiccck burrito! The egg and guac parts of the burrito tasted wonderful, but the sausage was too salty. Would not add in future. I think I would have liked the original breakfast burrito more. Again, still a great burrito.
Definitely glad overall that I made the second trip, although I disappointed my friends by not falling in love. I'm still reserving final judgment because I'm planning to come again soon to try the regular burritos!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 37210082134Feb 4, 2018
I ordered lunch from this place at work with a few colleagues via uber eats. I'm not sure the relevance of whoever Tom is and his honesty in regards to taco flavor but this place seemed like a reasonable enough choice.
The variety of taco options is mediocre. For vegetarians they have sweet potato and grilled veggie options. For #diet2018 reasons, I felt that a burrito bowl would be more akin to my calorie goals
Good and prompt. Not quite what I had in mind when I was thinking diet food.
The guac came separately allowing me to fling dollops on top of my bowl to my liking. Guac was tasty. Real black beans instead of that weird paste some places do, white shredded cheese on top was tasty. Sweet potato chunks were seasoned. The rice on the bottom was delicious actually. I find rice to be particularly boring AF usually but this was flavored beautifully. I could've eaten that fucking rice plain as a matter of fact.
My friend got a burrito and it was absolutely gigantic. I actually used this as an opportunity to send a snapchat of her to all of our other friends trying to stuff all of the burrito edge inside her mouth (lol).
I'd order from here again but the limited options are a drawback.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 672350591May 3, 2019
Oh my God. One burrito has me at 4 stars. Another might push me to 5.
WHAT a great idea, an all-vegetarian taco/burrito restaurant! And just a couple of blocks away from my new place, it seemed like it was meant to be.
I had my first experience here this past weekend, and I was torn over which of the many delicious options I should try. The sweet potato, because it was the classic? The walnut-based biff, because WTF would that taste like? The rice and bean, because it's the standard option at most places, and good to take the measure of a place against something I'm familiar with? I went with the grilled vegetable burrito, because I can't say no to seasonal grilled vegetables. I called in my order (also a chickpotle burrito for my husband) and we were told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Definitely longer than a 10-minute walk, so we rushed over and our order was ready, while the restaurant tables and counter were packed and buzzing. It's a super cute spot with colorful decor, and very cheerful-looking for an eat-in meal.
Anyway, back to the burritos. I think this must have been the biggest, and one of the most delicious, burritos I've ever had. It was SO good that even though it was easily enough for two meals, I bravely made it through the entire burrito in one sitting. I felt justified because it was that Easter holiday time of year when I would usually way over-eat anyway, but this year I was pretending Easter didn't exist and was having a burrito instead of Greek roast lamb (pre-vegetarian days!). My husband was almost equally enthralled with his meal. I say almost because he's not as expressive as I am, so maybe he was actually just as enthralled, but I can't be sure.
In addition to the deliciousness, I have to say, for the prices we paid for those portions, I felt like I was robbing the bank (instead of being robbed). Best value I've ever found for a meal THAT good.
Next time, I am going to try the tacos, which I imagine will be smaller and less overwhelming for my stomach while equally overwhelming for my mouth. Win win. Already one of my favorite spots in West Philly!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Sam K.Los Angeles, CA277174667Jun 14, 2019
Gotta keep it real Honest Toms is just not the same since it went vegan. There's no meat!
In all seriousness I enjoy vegan and vegetarian food and do think that the tacos and bowls have a fresh taste BUT that being said I do think that the level of tastiness (yumminess? Idk) has fallen since it went vegan. I do miss their meat options and think it did taste better before the switch.
Regardless, I appreciate that they don't try to replace meatless with faux-meats but keep true to earthy flavors instead of trying to emulate a different taste. The chickpeas taste fresh as do the sweet potatoes.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 31, 2019
I'm not a fan of tacos but I had to make a stop to see why this place is so popular. Their soft tacos & what's in it was really, really good! Their fresh lemonade is to die for. I would definitely make this place my first stop the next time I visit Philly!

Honestly Tom, you keep doing you boo. My fiancé and I shared 4 tacos. (breaking news, i have a fiancé now, I'm sure you all care. lol) Anyway let me tell you, that $14 was well spent!!! Chickpotle, Carbacoa, Biff and the Sweet Potato. So many reviews say the nachos are a must order and guess what we didn't order? You guessed it! But, I did have the honor of watching them being made. Omg that cheese sauce. Give me all of it.
Back to the tacos. The Biff and the Carbacoa were probably my favs. But the Biff was straight tasty. Like...next time I'll probably order 26....as an appetizer! You get it though right? I'd suggest any of the tacos and next visit I'll devour some nachos and update this jawn. I love that a place like this exists with so many taco options, and a wonderful pico that smothers each one!
See you soon Tom, does Tom own it? Honestly who's Tom?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
