I came here because I was craving diner food after waking up slightly hungover (damn you wine tasting).
This place is full of decadent meals. This is not somewhere to go for a healthy meal.
We got the breakfast bowl and chicken fried steak. Both were massive and could have easily been shared. I thought the chicken fried steak was good, but nothing special. I however rarely ever order chicken fried steak so I'm not an expert. The breakfast bowl was incredible! I kept sneaking bites from my boyfriend. We could have easily shared one and still had leftovers.
Service was awesome and the waitress/bus girl were both super attentive with our coffee cops and water glasses never being empty.
I would come here again if I was craving a greasy, hearty breakfast.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jun 20, 2021
Outside of the downtown area but a quick drive and you're there with ample parking. This restaurant gets 5 stars simply because my husband said that the biscuits and pork based gravy omelette was the best omelette he'd ever had and went so far to say that it was, "life changing." LIttle bits of delicious biscuits in a folded egg and thick flavorful and perfectly seasoned gravy are things dreams are made of.
We came here on a Thursday morning at 11:30 and we had no wait. We brought our dog so we sat outside. The outdoor dining is limited and covered by the eves, just before the parking lot starts. Thankfully, it was shaded. It's not the best ambience for outdoor dining but with a dog, we take what we can get. Service was friendly and somewhat efficient. They had no issues with accommodating our dog.
I ordered the frog legs-out (no delivery) and chili-out (no delivery). I settled for chicken fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns. The chicken fried steak was good. The hashbrowns were dry dry dry and not something I'd order again. They bring all the breakfast accompaniments in a toolbox, for a bit of fun charm.
Our entrees along with a soda and unsweetened iced tea and generous tip was $42, which was a steal for how happy my husband was with the food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 144198324Feb 15, 2020
We really enjoyed the decor of this restaurant it was very clean! Our food was very good! I ordered the chicken fried steak omelette hubby had the breakfast bowl.
The place was very busy and they only had two waitresses . They definitely could use more help, maybe a hostess ! Bathroom was clean but had no soap which is inexcusable at 9:00 in the morning. Our waitress with the green hair was a sweetheart with a great attitude! We did have to ask for boxes and we just left cash because we didn't feel like waiting for our bill . Like I had posted they definitely could use a hostess. We would return to this restaurant!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Aileen G.Vacaville, CA1094347Oct 29, 2021
Let me start off by saying the service was the best part of our visit. Ask for Connor she is amazing. We wwnt in for lunch.
It's a really cute place, clean and friendly atmosphere. They were playing Country music in the background.
We all ordered something different. The entire bill, which included 2 glasses of wine was about $49.
My order was made wrong, but without even having to ask it was taken off the bill. I thought that was really nice.
Cute place, worth another try. Maybe just for breakfast next time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bernadette D.Fremont, CA03829Mar 16, 2021

On a trip to Murphy's, I stopped in to see if they had coffee to go. They did, and the waitress was extremely friendly. While I was waiting for her to bring our coffee's, I overheard the owner talking to a customer about how seriously they have taken Covid, since she lost someone very close to her to it. Hers is not my story to tell so I will leave it at that. But she specifically said she was fine abiding by COVID capacity rules and any other precautions and losing some money if it meant keeping her employees and customers safe.
I paid for my coffee's and left thinking that I would come back later and happily support their business. We did come back for breakfast about an hour later.
I love a good chicken fried steak for breakfast and I also love a good omelette. So the waitress pointed out that they had a chicken fried steak omelette and I was sold. She did not do me wrong, as it was probably one of the best omelettes I have ever had. My dining partner and BFF was really excited to order the blue cheeseburger, but very disappointed when the waitress said they didn't receive their meat delivery that morning. So my friend ordered the turkey melt and was blown away by how delicious it was. She raved about how fresh everything was like she would have believed them if they told her they had just butchered the pig for the bacon, and baked the bread that morning (which I actually think they did?).
Seeing the deliciously thick and fresh bread on her turkey melt made me regret ordering a biscuit instead of toast but I was very happy with my biscuit just the same.
They also sell sausage by the pound when they have it, and my friend bought a pound of breakfast sausage to take home. I haven't heard an update on that yet, but I'm sure it was amazing as well.
If you're ever in Murphy's, I can't recommend hillbillies enough. What a great local restaurant to support during these tough times!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I ordered the country scramble. It was egg, cheese, and gravy on top of a biscuit with hash browns.
I asked for the hash browns crispy, and they weren't but it's okay. The scramble was delicious. The hash browns were very plain. It was a very heavy meal though.
We also ordered the breakfast bowl and had the gravy on the side. The sourdough was delicious.
They had a tool box on every table with cream and sugar. Very cute
Service was very good and very attentive.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 4, 2018
We stopped by here on a whim after a trip to Big Trees. It was around 1 on a Saturday afternoon. Apparently, they close at 1:30 so there was only one couple in there. The waitress was nice, took our order & food was delivered very quickly!
-I ordered the turkey melt. I must say that it was delicious! Grilled turkey, bacon & cheese on sourdough bread. The fries were hot & perfectly crispy.
-Hubby ordered the Hillbilly club. He said that his was delicious as well.
The decor was fun & fit the eclectic theme of "Hillbillies". Our only complaint was the chairs. They were incredibly uncomfortable & dug into our hips.
Overall this was a yummy restaurant.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tiffani H.Sacramento, CA65912Jul 23, 2020
After a lovely night stay at Murphy's Inn, Kim (the pleasant woman at The check in desk) recommended Hillbillies restaurant (along with a few others).
Anxious to get to start our four hour drive home so placed our Togo order with such a sweet lady. We ordered a tritip sandwich, a cheesesteak sandwich and a order of frog legs. 15 short minutes later and this sweet woman brought our food out.
Our sandwiches were delicious. Meat was tender and packed with flavor and the bread was some of the best we had. We were not fond of the frogs legs ( we never had them before but not our acquired tAste).
Overall food was phenomenal and the customer service was great. Give em a try you won't be disappointed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steven C.Vallecito, CA123520Jul 6, 2021
These guys are awesome. Stop in and grab your fav breakfast or grab it to go. True local spot that has history and if I'm not mistaken you can watch their tv show/remodel? from a few years ago

Was looking for a place to have breakfast within walking distance and decided to try this place out. The food was surprisingly very good. I had the country gravy scramble. I'm not a big fan of any type of biscuit and gravy option, but was curious to try it out here. Great blend of gravy, sausage, biscuit was soft and tasty. I would definitely recommend. They prefer cash so make sure you have some. The coffee was okay. Portions are huge.
