Das Ambiente ist natürlich toll, daher auch drei Sterne. Insgesamt doch etwas "tourilastig". Schade. Das Essen kam flott, sehe ich nicht unbedingt als Kompliment. Wir wurden satt.

Great ambiance inside one of the bridges of Nuremberg that cross the Pegnitz. Beautiful interior for a place that was constructed in the 1200s. I had schnitzle and she had the pork and beef loins over vegetables and spätzle. They both were tasty in traditional German fare styles. The reviews that rate these dishes bad have expectations that are simply too high. This city is about memorializing those lost to one of the worst atrocities ever to occur and the city has done a fantastic job of turning a frown upside down. The food here at this restaurant is just fine, filling, homemade and hot. The service was terrific with friendly staff and much attention paid to the guests. The views inside the restaurant are great, I would surely not say avoid it! Pricier than some for sure but only by a few Euro per plate. Try the Apple fritter dessert, really yummy!

I was in Nuremberg for a trip over winter and wanted to grab a bite of authentic German food.

This place is located right in the center of town near the cathedral!

      Inside is very rustic.

The menu is very basic offering special dishes from the region. I tried the spatzel, pork shoulder, and sausages. Each dish was very well prepared and delicious!

The service was quick and friendly as well!

Amazing feeling being inside of what was originally a local hospital...since the 1200s!!! The beauty of cities like this is that you can be having lunch in some mental hospital and dinner at a former jail from the medieval times. The stories these bricks can tell!!! I have to say I was super excited of the idea of having dinner by the river in this super nice restaurant, very classic, dark and as Germanesque as you can get. I was walking the beautiful streets post long day of workshop with my colleague and we did not go to a 'tourist trap'...but ended up in one.

A nice one, but still, it looks like no locals having dinner there, mostly large group of business men (and I say men because that is all you could see: men and meat meat and more meat). Meat and potatoes seems to be the favorite items of German cuisine, so I ordered the Cordon bleu and it was good but not to die for overall.

Still, I was there more for the location by the river and the history of the restaurant than by the food. I guess the best time to go is during Christmas as the market is set just right there and seems very pretty. I also heard by others that the summer gets very lively and probably a great experience for any tourist, like a must go when in Nuremberg.

Food was fine but not outrageously yummy. It's average German foods. Whatever the menu says, that's how they make it. The servers are stern and will not take your BS AND PICKY attitude. They will shake their heads and ask you to find something else you like. The hood thing is that the menu is also in English so you can see what you're getting. Cool place to see the old German style restaurants. Come and enjoy their specialty dishes meat dishes besides bratwurst. Ambiance is nice. Service could use some improvement but then maybe I was just hungry and tires after walking around the Christmas markets. do your best to learn a little German

We stopped into this very pretty restaurant during the Christmas market on recommendation of a private guide we had hired to show us the city of Nuremberg.

We were a bit concerned entering this cavernous restaurant as there were a LOT of tables set up for large groups-like 10, 16 and 20. As we arrived early (but without a reservation) we were seated at a tiny round table surrounded by a tables ready for some of these groups. Fortunately due to the extreme speed at which the food arrived (under 5 minutes I'd say) we were out before the inevitable noise that I'm sure was to follow.

Food wise it was fine, but my wife's grilled pork was merely ok and while I enjoyed the slow-roasted pork shank, the accompanying dumpling and salad were just "ok".

Surprisingly for a restaurant that clearly is popular with tour groups, our waiter had very limited English. Given his 20-something age I expected something else-although it wasn't a problem in any way.

We ate here because of its location (right next to the big Christmas market). We were cold and wanted to warm up and get a hearty meal instead of just snacking on street food vendors at the markets. The atmosphere is really perfect, homey in a German way. It's a warm and inviting ambiance that also meets tourists expectations (i.e., this is a very touristy place to dine).

The service was fine (if slow), but that's Europe for you! They had a special holiday beer on the menu that only shows up in the winter and it was really good so if you are there during Christmastime, be sure to order it.

We were all craving beef and vegetables after a week of eating sausages and potatoes, so we opted for two types of beef (sauerbraten and onion-topped steak). Both were fine but nothing memorable; nothing was truly horrible (although the bland onion soup came close). The salad had that cool German lettuce and was loaded with rye croutons and bacon. The "fried" potatoes were more sauteed and wet than fried and crispy.

Certain don't make a point to seek out this restaurant but it's really not that awful if you find yourself in a dining pinch. I'd never want to return, but it is what it is.

Really touristy restaurant with similarly touristy food. I tried the pork shoulder which came out right away, but the food was barely warm. (It must have been sitting around beforehand.)

The pork shoulder was okay but nothing special. The dumpling and sauerkraut on the side were both very mediocre. I was disappointed since I'm quite fond of sauerkraut.

Skip this place. I don't recommend at all. It has the kind of ambiance that tourists like as well, cute, traditional decor. Also, this place is pricier than other food options.

The food and environment were fantastic! We visited during Christmas, so the decorations in the restaurant made it quite picturesque. I ate the pork knuckle and onion soup and liked them both! My friend ordered the veal schnitzel and french fries, which was GREAT! Pair this with some beer and a table with a view of the river and you're set to have a great night

Nice location but food and service are horrible. First time food was ok but waiters where yelling at each other and literally threw the food on the table. And got angry when I commented on it. You would wonder why I would go a second time but I hoped it would be better if it wasn't that busy. Luckily I was right. Service was ok but now the food was so so bad. I don't think I have ever had something this disgusting. Camembert was under cooked on the inside and over cooked on the out side (straight from the deep fryer). The cordon blue had nothing to do with a cordon blue. I'm sure my dog wouldn't even eat that and I seriously was worry about my health eating that.

Please never go here untill they change owners, waiters and chefs
