My fiancé and I are about to be at the end of our one year lease here at Heights West End (previously Alta West End) and have decided to sign another year lease. We are switching to a bigger one bedroom. Let me just say, we LOVE the location. Right off i10. Beside Walmart, behind World Market (fav), Sprouts, LA Fitness, and a 5 minute walk to Chipotle, Starbucks, Salata and several more places. Easy access to the trails along White Oak Bayou. We often bike a big loop that goes through the heights, to downtown, besides buffalo bayou and back to our apartment. So great! I do want to warn anyone thinking about getting an apartment that faces the downtown/sprouts side.. dump trucks and delivery trucks come at weird and early hours!! For some people this will not be an issue, for others, you will hate it! Luckily we have gotten pretty used to it and hardly notice it anymore. In the beginning we would wake up to the sound of 18 wheelers backing up to unload and to the dumpsters being dumped quite often. On a positive note, if you get a 4th or 5th floor apartment facing that direction the view of downtown is awesome!!! Lots of cabinet space in the kitchen.. huge plus for us. Parking is first come first serve for residents. Unless you have paid for a specific reserved spot. Visitor parking is on the top of the garage. There is plenty of it. The garage could use mirrors. It's really hard to see if another car is coming around each turn. An HPD officer lives in the community. I have to say the new management team is awesome! They are making a lot of nice changes. Adrian (the manager) has been nothing but helpful! Zeba too! We really do love it here!! I'll be sure to update this if things change.

Tenants and visitors tires are being stolen. Cars are being placed on bricks. I have several pictures, but would rather not post a car that is not my own. I have not been personally affected but I am definitely worried about my safety and the safety of my property.
My visitors car got broken into yesterday and several things were stolen. I called the office because I wasn't "directly affected," the only advice given was that I could break my lease. There was no reassurance of changes being made, other than we have a security guard at random hours. There was no real concern or help offered.
Other reviews regarding the trash, are 100% true. It's pretty bad.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Anonymous L.Renton, WA0131Oct 28, 2020Updated review
I'm SO GLAD their rating has gone down. This complex is a complete scam. They bait and switch and have nothing but disgusting people living here. If you want to live in a place with vomit in the stairwells, an overpowering smell of trash in the hallways, and a unit that has dirt and filth from every single one of the previous tenants then be my guest. This complex bait and switched me into thinking I would get one thing and I got the complete opposite. They also tried to make me pay an amount they can kiss my ass about. Jessica Medrano (if she's still there) is one of those people who likes to act like she knows everything when she doesn't know shit. She has a head on her shoulders- literally... but I won't go there.
They tried to put the final amount of their wrong doing on my credit but they thought!
DO NOT LIVE HERE.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello, thank you for your honest review. Our goal is to ensure that every one of our residents enjoys living here with at Heights West End and if an issue arises, we strive to correct or address it immediately. We understand that you are upset with this situation as a whole, however these issues were not brought to our attention until we received your email dated Saturday, August 10th, almost a full month after your move in date. We contacted you Monday, August 12th to discuss the issues and to formulate a game plan on how to move forward with correcting them. The issues you stated could have been addressed and corrected that same day and unfortunately did not warrant a full release of your responsibility to the lease contract. While we acknowledge that you were wanting a full release from your financial responsibility, we are unable to meet that request. As a good faith gesture, we did remove a portion from the original balance owed and have sent you an updated final account statement for your records. We truly wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
Sep 12, 2019Previous reviewDO NOT MOVE HERE!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I have been paying within the price range of these apartments for a while now so I know what to expect with "luxury" apartment buildings. Whatever the fuck this is, is not it. I was living in Atlanta and was moving down with my 3 year old daughter and I saw these apartments online. Unfortunately I wasn't able to view them in person but I have never had a problem with doing this before. I saw great reviews on Google (didn't even bother to come on yelp because Googles reviews were so good) so I called, paid my deposit and other fees and moved in the next day, once I arrived in Houston. This place is the dirtiest piece of shit of an apartment I have ever experienced and I am not exaggerating. The parking garage is hot, no ventilation what so ever and its dirty. The stairways are completely filthy with trash smell and garbage and old beer cans and VOMIT right in front of the 3rd floor entrance which happened to be my floor. This vomit stayed there in the same spot the entire time I was there (a couple weeks). The hallways SMELL SO BAD of trash-like I get valet, but no.....As soon as I walked into my unit I was greeted by a roach (which was only one of more to come) but at this point its about 8pm at night, I'm tired from driving and I just want to lay down. I don't even plan to move my shit in, I just go across the street to Walmart and buy an air mattress and call it a night.
Next morning I filled out the move-in form and was very detailed (the place was shit). I already knew I couldn't stay here with my daughter. The bedrooms had built up hair in the perimeter of the carpets, like built up strands of someones hair everywhere. there was dirt all in the carpets, the walls were dirty and there was a colony of ants in one bedroom smh. The bathrooms literally smell like sewer or mold or something. I was there for a couple weeks and didn't use those bathrooms once-no fucking way. The kitchen cabinets were dirty, oil stains, trash, crumbs, etc. No one cleaned that apartment, and to top that off, the unit LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PHOTOS ONLINE!!! The apartment is so much older than what it seems to be online. Guess what happens next, they charge me $4300 for move out fees. Umm...yea no. I emailed the office-no help per usual (Jessica has a low-key attitude 24/7 and the manager is so fucking fake its funny) so I asked for the higher up and she was "nice enough" (kidding) to take some move out charges off and now my grand total is $2791. Sorry people, gona have to find your money somewhere else because you're not getting it from me. You're not about to charge me for your mistakes. I can't believe how shady this complex is dude its crazy.
Anyone know a good lawyer please let me know but do not move here. I can send you pictures and video of how disgusting it is.
To Brooke and the comment below. They are frauds and you can ask half the apartments in Houston as they said the same thing when I was touring new places to live. I didn't bring up the situation until I was about to move out because them spraying chemicals to remove pests is not going to stop the issue, they aren't removing valet trash so it's still going to smell, and they still have disgusting tenants who live there. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't stay at the heights. - X X.Houston, TX015021Jul 7, 2019
I've been here for two months now. I came here for the location. Totally regretting my decision.
You would think a bunch of drunk college teenagers live here, not professional adults. The hallways are loud and noisy all hours of the day and night. You can hear yelling and screaming at 2 AM. My downstairs neighbors directly below are bat s**t crazy; they constantly fight and you can hear everything thru the walls. Today (Saturday, 9 am), I was woken up to some idiot parked outside below my apartment with the car music blaring on full blast - moron was out there for over half an hour; where is the towing obsessed security when you need them?
When you actually get into the apartment, as much as they charge you for rent, the overall apartment is very cheaply put together. Cabinets and drawers look big from the outside but in reality are tiny. The bathroom drawers are a joke. There are not enough shelves in the closet/bathroom. And the bathtub is small, dirty and disgusting- it isn't a garden tub as advertised and needs full resurfacing at the least.
The MANDATORY trash valet service is pure highway robbery - you have to pay ~$125 a month for them to pick up your garbage 4 times a week - I am never home in the timeframe of the 6-8 p.m. set out time so I am paying for a service I DO NOT USE (don't forget the fugly brown, plastic trash can that comes with it and doesn't fit anywhere to hide, so it is an eyesore). Talking about garbage, the halls always smell like garbage and 'wet dog'. I have seen dog poop on the floor in the hallways. Also, there is definitely a bug problem that they will not admit to - spiders, gnats, fruit flies and roaches.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

horrible customer service/social cue/basic human interaction skills from Alex in the leasing office. I have toured upwards of 15 complexes and every other complex I've toured has respected the fact that I am not moving until October. I am new to Houston and just want to see which areas I like, which floor plans etc.. Alex would NOT stop pushing about their specials in June despite my multiple repeating that I am not moving till October. At the end of the tour she was pushy about asking WHY October????? Wtf!??? Mind your own business??? Then she asked me when I would want to lease, when I told her October AGAIN for the 15th time, in a extremely condescending tone she says "no no, when would you sign a lease?". Is there no one renting these apartments that she HAS to get me to sign right this second???? Sorry, no, I'm not renting a place that doesn't have a fucking dog park and faces the back of a damn Walmart.

Lived here for a year, just moved out. It was one of my favorite places I've lived in here in Houston. The complex was exactly what I needed and I really would've resigned had the renewal offer been better. Repairs were always handled on time (only issues I had were light bulb replacement and battery replacement in smoke detector). The pool was very social, the most social I've experienced here. The package lockers were a massive improvement and the events were always consistent and welcoming. The location is absolutely PRIME and I was within walking distance to a lot and a 5 minute car ride anywhere in town.
The cons to this place are limited and all FIRST-WORLD PROBLEMS.
- The parking can get a little sketchy as you have to pay for reserved spots. spots fill up quickly so you can find yourself parking a few levels above your floor. some people drive around the lot like it's a race track.
- Valet Garbage gives everyone the falls impression they can leave their garbage outside their doors all day or all night. This causes some funky smells in the hallways and certainly attracts some bugs. It's a mandatory monthly fee, which stinks because in the year that I lived there. I didn't use the service once and walked my garbage too the chute myself.
- I never realized how much I appreciated a refrigerator with a water dispenser, until I got here and didn't have one anymore. Had to invest in a lot of bottled water or filtered containers.
Overall, I would recommend this place if you live a social life style but like a quiet environment at the same time. If you don't need an over the top complex that is simple and enjoyable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE!!!!
They will charge you for EVERYTHING. Parking SUCKS. I constantly had to park in guest parking on the roof (6th floor). The hallways smelled of garbage constantly- other residents would complain as well. The pool was surrounded by such a narrow and tall landscape that you'd get sun for MAYBE 5 hours. I wouldn't consider this a luxury apartment. I overpaid for the value of living there. Upon moving out- they charged me for everything they could and were persistent on blaming me for "faults" in my apartment. The new Assistant Manager Brooke Cope claimed I had a "PET SMELL" in my apartment and charged me for $150 for "smell" although the carpet was cleaned, and I mopped with Pine-Sol and bleached the bathroom. I asked the Manager Jessica to walk the apartment with me to see for ourselves. Upon walking in she claimed she didn't smell pets. She then called maintenance (in Spanish) and when hanging up told me he's coming to rip up my carpet?!?! So they rip up my carpet and see a large stain (not on carpet padding which was switched out 5 months ago) and claimed it must have been "pet urine" which is clearly NOT if you've ever owned an animal. Far too large and had NO SMELL. They still blamed ME for the "mystery stain" and told me I had to pay it and other fees, of course. OVERALL- horrible customer service and ZERO appreciation for their patrons. They're stealing from you!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I guess I wasn't important enough to greet or tour the property. Walked in and was ignored. At least this way I knew not to live here.

Hi Martin, we are so sorry for the experience you had as that is never how we want people to feel when they walk in the office. If you are still looking for your perfect home, we would love for you to reach out to the manager directly at heightswestendmgr@knightvest.com to set up a tour of the property. The property and staff are exceptional! The location is great, walking distance to Sprouts and Walmart, and close to a lot of restaurants/bars. I had to recently switch units within the complex and my experience working with the leasing staff (special shout out to Adrian) was fast and easy while they also accommodated for some special circumstances. Don't hesitate to check out the complex! I highly recommend living at Heights West End.
