I saw so many celebrities let me name a few. Pete Davidson, Ice spice, wiz khalifa, and David dobrik. The 50 grand is worth it because I got so many autographs!

Beautiful facility. However for 50 grand..... the schedule is horrible. The checkin process takes advantage of you while still under the influence. You can't meet with your "counselor" for the first few days of a 28 day program. Leisure time during the day is over 5 hours of down time. Everything is peer lead AND if it's not your counselor has been in "recovery" for about 2 years. Early recovery is up to 5 years?!?! So you are having counselors who have only been "clean" for 2 years try to undo decades of use. AND your second week there you finally get a schedule explain the point of going to classes 2x over 3 to 4 weeks? Bottom line malfeasance.

Hazelden Betty Ford is an an absolutely AMAZING place!! The counselors, nurses, and staff are incredibly compassionate and kind. I went to a treatment facility several months prior and found it less than helpful - Hazelden Betty Ford take a more scientific and therapeutic approach in helping you understand the science behind WHY addiction happens and how it influence and can control your decisions and thoughts. This was substantially more helpful to me than simply taking an approach of "You MUST have some unresolved trauma you haven't worked through". That's not to say they don't help you with that - there are a multitude of services to utilize to help you get the best treatment possible while there. The step-down method is also incredibly helpful - putting more distance between your life and your substance of choice to help acclimate into your life. The other facility I attended only offered the residential treatment, and then an "out-patient" approach where you had to live on campus and couldn't seek any outside employment. I don't understand how that's supposed to help you navigate being reintroduced into your actual daily life.

The only reason for my four star rating, and my subsequent advice, is that I attended during the height of COVID and the Omicron variant. Toward the end of my residential treatment and before transitioning to day treatment, I became very I'll and brought it up to the nurses (whom I really bonded with and appreciated), and was told it was just anxiety. I'm not a person who feels ill easily, so I persisted in claiming it was something more than that. After several days, I pleaded with the nurses in the medical area to test me for COVID and, when I tested negative, was sent away. Of all people, it was our unit's housekeeper (who was AMAZING and very caring), who brought me back to the medical area to insist upon further examination. The doctor finally saw me, listened to my lungs, and sent me to urgent care nearby. I was diagnosed with extensive bacterial pneumonia of my entire right lung (not just scattered pockets of it as is more typical). All of this to say, with treatment or physical health, you need to advocate for yourself, and this was the only negative experience (albeit a pretty major health failure - especially in times of rising COVID outbreaks) I had during my entire stay.

If you are struggling to maintain a healthy life free from substance abuse, Hazelden Betty Ford has my utmost respect and recommendation. It's truly one-of-a-kind and caring program with incredible treatment staff.

Yes it's expensive, and yes it's intense. But seriously, if you need help and you feel like it's unbearable to live how you're living, then this place is a Godsend. They will work with you with insurance, just talk to the right people.

You get out of treatment what you put in. When I went to center city I was so relieved to finally get the help I needed for a while. The staff was amazing, and I met some incredible people. I did end up relapsing when I returned home, but that was because of me. And you know what? Hazelden was SO quick to get me back into the program; this may just be for the money. Maybe. But the way I was treated by the staff...ALL of the staff, even the ones answering the phones says otherwise. These people do want you to recover. So don't go here if you aren't serious.

This is a really nice place. My experience in the Tiebout unit was life changing. The thing to know about any treatment facility is that THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CURE YOU! It's up to you to show up to the groups, be honest, be open, and participate. I saw guys just skip group, sit outside and smoke cigs, lay in bed all day, and then they wonder why they relapse a week after they get home.

The biggest things to take away from treatment is it shows you that you can bond with other people without drugs or alcohol. It'll give you a good month of sobriety to give you some momentum once you go back home. But if you go home and dont do the things they suggested, you'll likely go right back to what got you in trouble in the first place.

Honestly i would suggest going to AA or NA first before going to treatment. But if things are absolutely out of control and your insurance will cover the cost, go here. Hazelden is a good place.
