Have been here for dinner, lunch and weekend brunch. While the dinner & lunch menus are both quite good, we loved the brunch. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when we're back in the Twin Cities!
On a side note - we're getting married in the Twin Cities this fall and are recommending Haute Dish to our friends and family for brunch on Sunday. It's that good! - 312119039711/17/2017
I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I kind of feel like Haute Dish is a bit overrated. We stopped most recently for brunch. We came late, probably around 1:30 when they close at 2. So we were seated immediately. Service was just OK, in part I think because they were kind of closing up shop while they waited for the last tables to finish. I felt rushed by the end of our meal. And food was just OK too.
We ordered the caramel roll, which is big and comes completely swimming in a pool of the most decadent, rich, dark caramel sauce that is clearly homemade. The roll itself is nice and doughy (in a good way) but it is not a cinnamon roll. Just something to know -- there are not big stripes of cinnamon sugar running through the thing and I kind of wished there were. The toasted pecans crunched delightfully and the marscapone dollop on the top was a great touch. I will say though that I really wished it had been served hot. It was served just kind of lukewarmish. Disappointed in that. But still a fine starter.
For brunch I got the biscuits and gravy with poached eggs for an upcharge. You get three wedges of homemade biscuit that are fluffy and a tad bit sweet. Generally decent biscuit but not your traditional southern biscuits. The sausage gravy was good but not the best I've ever had (and let's face it, I'm a B&G connoisseur by now). The choice of collard greens to go with the dish was a nice and different take on the thing except that they were so loaded with vinegar that I really didn't enjoy them that much and left half of them on my plate. My eggs were poached within reason but not really the runny yolk I'd hoped for. More like poached medium. In all a decent representation of B&G but not my favorite. I left a third of it on the plate.
My husband got the Chilaquiles, which were OK but again not super. The chips on the bottom of the dish were totally soggy by the time the plate landed on our table. The optional pork was definitely flavorful. But overall the whole dish felt a little off balance and just not that great.
Of course, being Haute Dish, brunch still cost us more than $50 even though we didn't get alcoholic beverages or even coffee. I was disappointed to see that the upcharge for the pork was $4 instead of the listed $3 and that we were also charged $4 for what has to be the smallest glass of orange juice ever. In all, I left disappointed, unsatisfied and wishing we'd gone somewhere else for breakfast. We could have spent the same amount of money for a far superior brunch experience. - 69971726717/6/2016
What a delicious experience?!!!
The only reason why this place did not get 5 stars was because the bacon was in everything and I don't eat bacon. Yes I am weird because the rest of the world eats bacon and I don't. I did ask to not have bacon in my syrup but the bacon in the ice cream came pre-made so I just gave that to my friend who LOVES bacon.
I think of the  Haute Dish fried chicken and waffle often and recommend it since it was quality. I had a pineapple mimosa and enjoyed it with my meal. We shared a side of Johnny cake which was good but nothing like my chicken and waffle.
Sometimes I wish I could extend my stomach but what I couldn't eat I took home and enjoyed the left overs.
We were having so much fun that we didn't realize Huate Dish closes by 2pm on a Sunday for brunch. Thankfully they were quite polite and waited for us to finish. I thought that was a kind gesture. - 446759322710/10/2016
I've been here twice and it was an okay place. One time I came with friends and the other time I sat in the bar and had a dinner alone.
1. Service
Both times, it was pleasant, no nonsense, not so nice, but not bad either.
2. Food/drink
It was quite delicious. I liked everything i got, appetizer was good, steak was well made, dessert was yummy. Bartender was willing to make me a cocktail that was not on the menu.
3. Ambience
It is quite dark and bar like. I would not recommend this place for a date or anything romantic. It is a good place to eat and drink and catch up with friends in a casual environment. - Michelle W.Minneapolis, MN4351564/18/2018Updated review
This is from last year - little slow on posting. SORRY.
Ok, I'd heard about Haute Dish for quite some time. I was surprised to walk in on a Thursday night and find the place almost completely empty at 6:30. Not normal.
The server was nice but forgot to mention until further questions revealed that the menu didn't actually show all the ingredients of each dish (especially the salad). As there were two of us with seafood allergies, it's really important to know what's in a dish.
The meat in both the "tater tot hautedish" and the steak and potatoes meal did not taste good. Both the quality of the meat and the final preparation didn't appeal to any of us at the table. Full on marrow-in-bone with no taste took up a good portion of the steak dish. Â Steak had a gremolata on it that tasted nasty. Only decent thing was the garlic bread?
We loved the sourdough tart but the chocolate cake was "eh". We did love the salted ice cream that came with the chocolate cake however.
The server didn't say anything when he noticed nothing was really eaten on my plate. Could've been a prime opportunity to find out what was going on and helping to maybe get customers to come back and maybe spread word of the great service. Missed opportunity!
All told, drinks were good (wine and a rum and coke), some of the dessert was good. Not what I expected and don't plan on going back. Especially at THOSE prices!!! Food:
Chicken tortilla soup - good, no crunchy tortilla strips for garnish, but good chicken, cheese in soup, ran a little on the salty side like it may have reduced too much
House salad - super creamy dressing and toppings and definitely different, pretty good
Flavor country burger - This was fairly good. If you're going to get anything, this would be the thing to get. It's packed full of flavor. The bun doesn't quite work though...when squishing the burger down to fit it in your mouth, it squeezes the meat patty out of the burger (yes, it's the worse). The tomato was fresh, but not all that tasty...it had no flavor
Double cheeseburger - Quite unspectacular
Fries - come seasoned with a too-sweet ketchup powder and served with mayo. Also, they're not crunchy or crispy...instead, they are rather limp
Good beer options though, so that's nice. Service was good.
TLDR: should try the burger and brunch IMHO has their best food - 34452411675/23/2015
Yuuuuummm. I've had brunch and dinner here now. The food is insanely good, but expensive. I'm broke now...who am I kidding I was broke before I got there.
For brunch get the Pigs in a Blanket. Tender meat, perfect egg crepe thingy, and a poblano gravy. Oh ma ga. I want to roll myself in all that deliciousness. You need to get the chicken and waffles too. Yes, just go ahead and eat two meals, it's breakfast and lunch after all.
So for dinner my boyfriend and I split three dishes since I was at the crabby stage of hunger, and I couldn't make up my mind. Tater tot hautedish, general tsos sweetbread (veal), and the crab mac and cheese.
The hot dish was awesome, super tender meat, crispy on the outside, but creamy on the inside tots. I definitely recommend trying this. My only gripe is it's $27! I think there's about 4-5 ounces of meat, and you get three tater tots. Around $18 seems more reasonable.
Crab mac and cheese was my favorite. There were chunks of crab meat, al dente pasta, and the cheese didn't overwhelm the dish at all. I really wanted this dish to myself.
The sweetbreads were tasty, but I can live without ordering it again. I didn't care for the fried rice too much, and the house made fortune cookie that came with it was a bit stale.
We also went during their summer BBQ special menu. Brisket was AAAMAZING. Lamb wheel thing, also very good. The chicken wasn't anything interesting. All the little sides were super tiny. The deviled eggs appetizers were dipped in salt, then someone patted more salt on them. My face puckered. They had to go back. Our server took it off the bill and said there's been salt issues all day with them.
I had a couple of old fashions, these were made very well! I also ordered some drink with gin, grapefruit, and some lime stuff. I HATED it. The lime stuff tasted artificial. I'll just keep it real, it tasted like ass. I told our server, which I felt pretty bad about, I've never sent a drink back. He was super cool about it and asked what was wrong with it. I told him and he went to tell the bartender, who happened to be new. He came back and actually thanked me for saying something, so they could hold back on the lime stuff.
Warm brownie with ice cream for dessert. It's okay. Next time I'll skip dessert and just order my fat ass another dish.
Overall, great food, and even better service. Our meal, the three dishes, with a couple of drinks was $150 for two people though. That hurt me. The portions were small. But I'll be back, it's that good. - 241273182/22/2015
Love love this place! Decided to make reservations and head here on Friday night with my fiancé. We got there and had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Appetizers we got wontons and Mac and cheese both awesome! We waited for a good 45 minutes for appetizers and another 45-50 minutes for our entry's. Was it worth the wait yes!!! Â
Always good and service is amazing!!! I will continue to go even if I had to wait three hours! Lol! - 793679111/24/2015
Hey great find. Their Sunday brunch is nothing short of outstanding! Very unique menu with a helpful staff.
Do not eat for a week before having a meal here. Great portions. - 129704406/7/2017
Based on the name, my boyfriend and I wouldn't have come here as it screams hipster. We did go because we were meeting with family over brunch and they chose this place since they're locals.
For service, this place gets 5 stars. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. No problems on that front. As for the food, I thought it was just ok. It felt like quantity over quality. It wasn't unappetizing, but it definitely got more difficult to eat the more I worked on my dish. My boyfriend and his parents also thought it was just all right as well.
I don't know, maybe the food is better later in the afternoon and evening, but we were underwhelmed. Also, the pricing was really high for the food we got. No offense, but why does it cost $4 to add meat to an egg dish? Argh. Ok, I'm being picky.
