This is the best place to get a Gyro in the bay area!!!
This past summer I went to New York and experienced the wonderful taste of gyros. When I came back to the bay area my fiance and I scoured the bay for that same delicious taste. After trying dozens of restaurants and stands we finally found Gyro Town! They are fucking awesome!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 5, 2017
Their flaming gyro is not spicy. Not one bit. Their flaming gyro is full of flavor and super succulent however, there wasn't much of it but it's a great thing that the vegetables were all crisp and fresh.
Gavin's cheeseburger was super cheesy. Well, not exactly cheesy but their special sauce stole the show. Imagine McD's sauce on their Big Macs. I stole a few bites after. I mean I helped him finish the burger after he was full. I did not order a side for either of us because I know I cannot control myself and Gavin would fill up on fries instead of his meal. It not only saved me money but saved us from having a caloric surplus.
Not much service but food was great despite the portion.

This hole in the wall place is a must eat in Fremont! The burgers are fresh and handmade. I have been here 3 times now and I fully intend on coming back to try everything on the menu!
The gyros are also delicious. Unusually delicious! There are 7 different gyros to choose from. So far I've tried 3 and I've loved them.
Their fries are crispy fried goodness. While their curly fries seem a tad expensive, they are so GOOD! They also have town fries and meat lovers fries Im working myself up to.
The first time I came here I was little upset they messed up my order and then charged me to fix it. I hate paying extra money. But when I tasted the food, but I would throw my money at them. Yes, you have to come here. The prices are good and quality is even better. These are some of the best burgers not made at home and definitely the best gyros I've tasted thus far. (Please note I do not eat lamb and cannot speak for the quality of the lamb).
Happy eating!
P.s. Don't eat the 'factory made' baklava

Came here as the place my sister and I planned on going to wasn't open yet...so Yelp brought us here as I love a good gyro!
I'd have to agree with fellow yelper, D.wight L (like the explanation of gyro, shawarma, doner) and the use of the 'meatloaf' meat...pre-made meat with no spit seen and warming it on the grill.
I did think Gyro Town has a better one as it's chunked and not sliced and not salty as most places have after cooking it on the grill. Probably best eaten there as when brought home the sauce got all watery from the cucumber or the warmth of the meat/pita.
I'd definitely try again...place isn't fancy and would say a hole-in-the wall place...reasonable pricing at $8.50 incl tax for the basicHelpful 24Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 0 - D.wight L.East Bay, CA64415154958Aug 29, 2016
I had to take a peek, to see what the high ratings were about. I was confused and intrigued at the same time because I have a thing for gyros...in that I often don't trust them.
You see, a gyro, doner, and a shawarma are all essentially the same thing. Back in the old worlds, they are basically thin pieces of seasoned meat (beef or lamb), skewered onto a vertical spit, roasted slow as a whole, then carved to order as the spit turns. The Mexican al pastor actually came from this as well. The difference in the names are the countries in which it is being done. Gyro = Greece. Doner = Turkish. Shawarma = Arabic/other middle eastern.
I'm a general fan of doner and shawarmas, as they are usually done somewhat authentic over here in the states. But gyro, kind of turned into something different out here in the US. Somewhere down the road, large Greek meat companies started to process a prepared "gyro", to save cooks the labor in seasoning and skewering the meat. What ended up was more of a meatloaf, that is eventually sliced. I was never a fan. I like the texture of regular meat.
Here at Gyro Town, they use that meatloaf style, so boo to me. But in their defense, it is not as bad as most places that serve this stuff. Here it is kind of cubed in chunks, instead of shaved, which I like, makes it more substantial. I also didn't see any spits rotating. They also brown/griddle the gyro chunks a bit, so it adds a bit of texture, another nice touch.
The large pita they use is nice and warmed up. The cucumbers and lettuce are pretty fresh. Sauce not bad, kind of a ranch/tzatziki thing. So overall I can see why the great raves. But for me, I just can't get behind the meatloaf thing, I prefer real whole pieces of meat. Sorry not sorry.
But for 12 bucks or so, you can get a combo of fries (thin cut fast food style, not bad actually), drink and meatloaf sandwich. If you're into such things, you now know where to get your fix.
I on the other hand will take a legit shawarma a couple of miles down the road.

One of the best gyros I've ever had! Minus one star though because I paid about $10 for one and I was still hungry afterwards... And I really don't eat that much imo. I recommend the spicy chicken or lamb! Don't forget to check in on Yelp to get a free baklava dessert.
It's also not the most comfortable or glamorous areas and the food does take a while to come out. Seats are those hard non-cushioned plastic types. Probably a better idea to order it to go and eat it in the comfort of your own home.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3029164756Jul 13, 2016
Its near me and I was tired of burgers. Called in the order based on Yelp reviews and guess what??? Yelpers always know!!! The flaming chicken gyro was "on fire" and delicious and filling and the large town fries huge!!!! Creamy buffalo goodness. *Tip large fries are for about 4 people and eat with a fork. All the food is messy. I just dont like the place to eat in. It was hot and rather be home. I highly recommend it. $14 total but it was way too much food for 1 person.

I crave gyros every now and then and I'm glad I was finally able to try this place out.
they have gyros, chicken wings, burgers and fries.
came in late Friday night and the guy in the kitchen seemed very busy but was very nice to apologize for the delay in service. I didn't mind.
Ordered chicken gyro.
It did take a while. maybe 20 mins? surprisingly for someone who hates waiting and at that time very hungry, I didn't mind the wait.
The lady who took my order and my payment wasn't as welcoming as the guy tho.
The food: its good. Ive had better but the only thing I'm not quite a fan of is the chicken itself. dark meat Im assuming and the flavor is a bit overpowering. its still good tho.
I have to also mention that they have a clean restroom.
I'll come back and try other things in the menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
