Groovy Guys has been on my food truck to do list for a while so I was so happy to see them at First Friday Food Truck's this weekend!

The line was super long which is always a good sign to me when it comes to food trucks...especially when there are so many others to choose from! I opted for the Buffalo Chicken Fries and am so so happy that I did! They were even better than I imagined them being.

I was worried that with so many toppings, the actual integrity of the fry would be compromised, alas, the crunchy, salty fried potato texture was just as it should be despite all the goodies piled atop them. If you like anything buffalo chicken related, give this entree a go...you will not be dismayed!

Groovy Guys was posted up at White River State Park last night for the Alabama Shakes concert, so I  just had to try them out once again. I'm a total sucker for their BBQ pulled pork fries. Fries fresh out of the fryer topped with pulled pork, sweet and tangy bbq sauce, and topped with cheddar cheese. Mmmm!  So, good! It would be even better if the cheese were melted a bit longer, but it was still delicious. It's a bit pricey for $8, but they'll keep getting my money as long as they keep the goodness coming!

I vow to try something different next time. They have so many wonderful options including the veggie fries or traditional loaded fries. The service is always great. This place is always the hot spot, so be prepared for long lines and  slight wait.

    This place is another winner!

Who doesn't love fries? So simple, but so good. Groovy Guys Fries is one of my favorite food trucks cruising around the Indy area. Maybe not the healthiest... but the long lines don't lie - its oh so good.

Buffalo Chicken fries are by far the best but I like the pulled pork ones as well.

Definitely keep an eye out for the yellow truck and run, don't walk to get in line and order some fries for yourself. An order (will set you back around $7) is definitely enough for a filling meal.

My husband and I stumbled upon this food truck gem parked right on the corner at the Irvington Halloween Festival. Out of all the glorious food trucks on the street, we couldn't help but get drawn in by the allure of "taco fries" and the equally delicious "loaded fries."

Easily the most crowded truck, we waited a decent amount of time to place our order. But once the order was placed, we had warm, yummy fries in our paws soon enough!

The taco fries were legit, as well as the loaded fries. Saw some people getting the buffalo chicken fries and I thought, "Yes, my god, that sounds delicious." But in the end, loaded fries trumped buffalo (it's the bacon, I can't resist.)

I only wish that the fries themselves stood out a little more. But otherwise, a perfect comfort food.

Really just a good, solid food truck!  They've perfected their system.  The fries were fresh and hot. The wait was no more than 5 minutes once I ordered.  I had the taco fries and one of my friends said it reminded her of a frito pie.  Easily customizable.  I definitely plan to try the BBQ pull pork fries the next time!

One of my favorite food trucks.  Fries with toppings how can you go wrong?  Great finger food & sometimes you need a fork but it's all worth it.  Don't count the calories just enjoy the warm, comforting & inventive goodness.  Look for them at local events.

Oh, what a simple idea for a food truck but oh, it is so good!

My work has been arranging monthly food truck days and our most recent day brought about Groovy Guy Fries, I love fries and wish I could eat them always so I knew I was going to check this one out.

There was a surprisingly small line at the truck, but I later found out this was because they were moving fast, which is key when we have short lunch breaks and lots of people, yay!

The worst part about the whole experience was trying to decide which one to get for lunch. I wanted to try so many, I finally weakly said "Taco Fries?" and thankfully the nice lady taking orders said that was her favorite, even if this was a lie, it made me feel better about my decision, haha.

It was a good choice indeed! $7 and was a good sized lunch! Very yummy fries with lots of taco meat, salsa, cheese and sour cream, mmmm. I ate it fast and with no regrets [I went jogging that day so that makes it ok, right?]

I hope I run into this truck again soon!

This is in my top three for Indy food trucks. I've worked my way through half of their fry options and landed on the BBQ Pulled Pork fries and the Buffalo Chicken fries as my two favorites, both coming in at $7. If I'm interested in something a little sweet the BBQ's my best bet, and I'll opt for the Buffalo if I'm looking for something with some kick.

The steak fries are also pretty good, but my biggest issue with these is that the toppings don't spread well. The cheese solidifies and binds the top layer of fries together (vs the Loaded fries where the cheese is a cheese sauce). You'll finish the toppings provided and still have half your fries left (which is okay because they're still good on their own). The BBQ (heaps of shredded pulled pork and BBQ sauce), Buffalo (shredded chicken with buffalo sauce), and Loaded (sour cream, cheese sauce, chives, bacon) all have toppings that can be stirred and and distributed evenly across the entire tray. That way every bite will include some of your toppings.

No matter what you get you'll be happy with the decision. For $6-7 you'll walk away completely stuffed and satisfied.

I love these Groovy Guys. We found out about them about a year ago, and I wanted to try them, but I couldn't find them! I tried to seek them out to no avail for a few depressing months, and then BAM it was Halloween and I started seeing them everywhere. They've given love to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful events, the Irvington Halloween festival, and #clustertruck Thursdays in Ellenberger Park. Whenever there's a group of food trucks gathered together and GGF is present, there's about a 90% chance that they're getting my business.

We've been back several times and I'm always a happy customer. I typically go for the Loaded Fries (all the toppings of a loaded baked potato), and they are great. The fries are hot, crispy, well seasoned, and amazingly not all that soggy when you get to the bottom of the huge serving. The toppings are plentiful and tasty on their own. If it takes awhile for your fries to be made (not a complaint I've ever really had), it's because they make each basket fresh. They also have poutine, pulled pork, buffalo chicken, chili cheese...the list goes on. They also have some fun dipping sauces.

The prices ($6-7) are fair and definitely worth it. Don't kid yourself, this is an entree's worth of fries. You won't need to eat anything else.

YUM, steak and cheese fries were so tasty. Came out quick and fresh and my husband and I shared them no problem! Can't wait to update my review once I try all the others!

The planets and stars aligned that my schedule and GGFries trip to Carmel jived just right.

And I'm all Happy Happy Happy!

Seriously this may be the best thing I've gotten off a Food Truck.  And probably the best $6 value I've spent year to date.

Hoosier Poutine; crispy fries - dusted w/ a nice seasoning, SMOTHERED with a country style sausage gravy then COVERED w/ shredded cheddar.  Not sure what else is on the menu.  Don't know that it matters to me though - I'll never stray from the poutine.

Give 'em your money chappy and get happy.
    happy. happy.

For $6-$7 you can get a mound of hot fries topped with meaty, cheesy (and veggie option) goodness. The menu in it entirety is pretty tempting, I've only had the steak & cheese fries - which I've ordered on 3 separate occasion, so you could say I like them. My only critique - more meat and cheese. The fries alone are good - seasoned, hot and crispy, but don't be afraid to really load them up. Excited to try their other fries!

Big fan of the taco fries!  Six dollars sounds like a lot for fries, until you get an order of these bad boys.  They elevate fries from puny side item to a meal fit for a man (or a very hungry woman like me).  The fries alone are very tasty, nicely seasoned, crisp on the outside, but still potatoey on the inside.  They would satisfy both the steak fry and frites crowd.

Then you add the toppings. Oh, the toppings!  One of the few places where "loaded" fries are actually loaded so that the fries-to-everything-else ratio is 1:1  (i.e., you don't have to hedge your bets with a side of ketchup).  There is enough taco topping goodness to cover every...single...fry.  Good gracious, what a meal!

I am not sure this review will do justice to their food, but I feel like It is a valid and necessary review.

If you want their fries, be prepared to wait in line FOREVER. It takes about 7-8 minutes to make your individual fries. They don't take the next order until they have made the previous person's order.

So...you'll get in a short line with only 2 people in front of you and wait 15 minutes. Then, they will start the person in front of you'd order....so be prepared to wait FOREVER.

After that much time, just leave. Go to a different food truck. After 15 minutes of standing there, I gave up.

The wait can't be worth it. They aren't THAT amazing that they can people people waiting like that.

Pretty quick on the draw, and definitely cheaper than the other trucks parked around. I had the pulled pork fries, and those were pretty good. The meat itself was delicious, and though I would have loved to have a few more jalapeños, I was overall quite satisfied. Also, the quantity was definitely sufficient, at least for me, to qualify as a pretty good meal. That was no side.

Food Tried: (I think standard fries are usually $2.50)
    - Regular French Fries w/ Ketchup
    - Sweet Potato Fries w/ Banana Ketchup

I don't think I've ever gate-crashed an event before. And to be honest, I didn't mean to gate-crash the Groovy Guys event last night at the International School of Indianapolis, but no one told me it was a private event, so when I showed up, fries were abounding, but only for the people with red hand stamps... Mmmhmm, sure. I tried to pay. But the truck guys (Terry, Joe and Brandon) insisted against that. So, I had the joy of not only good fries, but good free fries. I eagerly look forward to supporting Groovy Guys in future fry buying encounters because really, the price isn't the issue.

Their fries were great-thicker cut than most fast food places, nice and crispy, and piping hot. Not greasy, but with plenty of flavor on their own (I really want to try the loaded fries though). The banana sauce with sweet potato fries was the real winner though: SWEET and SMOOTH, with just the right amount of SALTY flavor too. All around, a good treat, to go with another meal, or to enjoy, as I did, all on their own.

It's tough to judge the price for the value, because my own one-time experience was by far the best value I've gotten for food in a while (free-2-oh!). I think that, for a french fry only truck, the value is good-the fries are meant to be a meal when you buy them at $5-6 a plate. And give that they're usually covered in toppings and unique combinations of ingredients, I could imagine it begin a very interesting and tasty meal at that.

In terms of recommendations, I'm going to hold off. I know, this is a rare thing, but given that A) I didn't pay and B) I didn't get to choose from the full menu, I feel it wouldn't be fair to make a call. I sampled Groovy Guys in a unique situation, and I will amend this entry once I've had a more representative encounter... Hopefully this afternoon!

For $6 I got a bed of REALLY good fries, topped with steak, mozzarella, and A1. The fries themselves are pretty yummy. Crispy, hot, seasoned well, and thickly cut. The steak was tender, not at all chewy, and the cheese was thoroughly melted. The A1 was a nice kick, and it was just the right amount.

Overall I'm pretty happy with what I got and I look forward to trying the loaded baked potato fries next time.

Good stuff. I've had both the plain fries with one of their interesting dips and I've had one of the entree fries that is covered with meat and other toppings. Both are good. The bacon ranch dip has huge chunks of bacon in it and tastes very yummy. If you see them parked near you, give em a try.

One of my favorite food trucks!   I love that they've turned the run-of-the-mill basket of fries into a gourmet meal.  The menu changes all the time which keeps me coming back to try their latest concoction.
