1/30/2018Crazy cab is what I like to call them. Moving in and out of traffic within inches of another car, going from place to place within minutes. We have been with this cab company countless times. Sitting in these cabs with my lady, the love of my life is a special time. We have to sit through the sound of repeating commercials such a the cake blender and how to make cupcakes with dabs of peanut butter in there. I grab ahold of her constantly worried if I will have to brace for impact and any moment.
The constant car horns, speeding up and slowing down, maneuvering in an out of traffic with such aggressiveness and fear for our safety makes me appreciate the finer things in life and what's worth holding on to, which is my gorgeous beautiful intelligent woman that means the absolute world to me, and for that life lesson Green Cab and Yellow Cab, you are worth 5 stars in my book! - Sam C.San Diego, CA0 friends26 reviews
4/24/2020Hello everyone who decides to visit or travel to Boston area be cautious of the green and yellow cab service, when it comes to your wallet, cash or belongings, kiss them good bye . Doesn't matter if your a regular client or not, they will consider it false information or allegation. I'm just surprised and shocked their still in business for being dishonest and thiefs...

11/13/2019I just had a racist old white man drive me home who told me that we need to keep "illegals" out of this country and that Trump is keeping his promise of keeping them out of our country. It was cab #66. He started yelling at me, calling me a "liberal" and claiming that he's not racist, but that we have to keep the "illegals out." As the child of immigrants, I am disgusted by this man's bigoted behavior. This is the last time I'm patronizing this company.

4/19/2017Updated reviewI'll likely still use this company again, because most of my experiences have been good and none of the cab companies around here seem great, but I did have one rather scary experience that I want to share here that might cause me to consider Uber instead next time. I had a 4:30 am reservation for an early morning flight. I received a phone call several minutes early with the automated system stating that the driver was here. We went out to the front of our building and waited; no car was here. After a few minutes, my husband walked around to the other side of the building to see if the car went there instead. We found the cab there, but unfortunately it had a flat tire, and the driver didn't have a wrench for removing and replacing the tire. We asked him to call and ask to have another car sent, as we wanted to make sure we made it to the airport in time. He did, and we all just stood there waiting. After 15 minutes, we started wondering if the new cab was on the other side of the building where we had originally been waiting, but the original driver seemed certain that we were in the right place. After 20 minutes, we apologized to the driver and said we were going to go find another ride. At this point, he kept telling us no, he would take us, and he started unscrewing the lug nuts by hand and said it would only take him a minute to change the tire and then we'd be on our way. We felt bad for him but quickly walked away...there was NO WAY that we were getting into a car with loosely tightened lug nuts holding the tire on since he didn't have a wrench. Fortunately, when we made it to the other side of the building, the replacement cab he had called was there looking for us, so we made it to the airport without further problems.
I am pleased that the company was able to send a second car relatively quickly. However, I am concerned about the safety of some of their cars if this guy was able to easily unscrew the lug nuts with his hand. That's not usually possible. I really hope they will do a better job making sure the drivers have the equipment they need for simple things like this and that they know how to use it!
3/19/2016Previous reviewWe used Green and Yellow Cab of Somerville for a 4:30 am ride to the airport. Booking in advance was very easy with just an email. The driver was slightly late (less than 5 minutes) because he had trouble finding the correct pickup location, but the addresses are rather confusing around my apartment building, and the driver was very apologetic about being late and very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience, especially compared to other companies where I've had great difficulties finding the driver and been greatly overcharged.

9/9/2019I had the worst experience in a green and yellow cab on Sept 8. Taxi 8, driver 1067. I was taking the cab from the Encore Casino to the double tree hotel in Chinatown. The elderly man with an accent said he knew where it was and that he knows everything in the city having lived there for 30 years. He did not need Waze. The 2010 vehicle was not a comfortable ride. He proceeded to get lost and halfway through the ride, when I realized we were in the wrong part of town, he ask me where I was going again. Additionally, he said he worked a full day and was exhausted and perhaps should not have been behind the wheel at midnight that night. The fair was double what it should have been after he got lost but he still charged me the full fare and was expecting a tip! It's amazing how these taxi companies complain about Uber and lyft, yet service from those companies far exceeds the quality and comfort that I received from green and yellow cab. I registered a complaint that evening after getting out of the cab. Even the person answering the phone at the company...first questioned whether or not I was certain it was their company. I assure him it was because I made sure I got a receipt from the driver. He said he would take care of it. Based on his attitude, I doubt he did.

9/26/2018Theres a reason cab companies are going out of business. Attempted to call a cab and the company transferred me over to this company. Requested the cab got confirmation and no cab showed. In addition I got an angry voice mail from the dispatch for no reason and now no answer from the company. Good customer service.

4/12/2016Updated reviewSince my last post, the owner reached out to me and offered to not only give me my next ride free of charge, but she also said she would send me a gift certificate to make up for the poor service I received.
Now before I go any further, this is NOT about the free ride or the gift certificate. I can afford a cab, I don't need hand outs from anyone - HOWEVER, it's the principle of the matter. Not only has she not sent me a voucher for the free ride or the gift certificate but she hasn't even responded back to my message.
If I was the owner of a company that had employees screwing customers over like this company does, I'd make sure to respond to my customers ESPECIALLY the unhappy ones.
THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE BUSINESS!
2/17/2016Previous reviewI use these guys all the time but lately, I've been extremely disappointed and pretty aggravated just about every time I use them.
Valentines Day, we took a cab to the restaurant. Now everyone knows that the cabs now have a debit/credit card machine you can use if you don't have cash & you can even add on a tip. This is fantastic, especially for people like me who very rarely carry cash. We get to the restaurant and my boyfriend pulls out his card and the cab driver FLIPS OUT. No exaggeration, he starts yelling at us saying "Didn't the dispatcher tell you the system was down?! We can't use the machine! Cash only!" We apologized and told him we had ZERO cash so he yelled at us to just get out of the cab. So, we did. And as soon as we were out of the cab, my boyfriend called Green Cab and let the dispatcher know all about it. Turns out, he was trying to pocket the cash - nothing was wrong with the machine. And unfortunately, this is not the first time a cab driver for this company has pulled this.
A couple of months ago, I took a cab to my house from Somerville Avenue which is usually a $7 ride, before tip. Well, not only did the driver go all around the world to get to my house (to jack up the rate, of course) but he made me stop at an ATM to get cash! Which of course, added even more money to my cab fare!
Complaints have been made but nothing seems to be changing. So disappointed and pretty disgusted with some of these drivers.Read more

Y'all heard the news? Every Green Cab now accepts credit cards. Technology!
Aside from this ground-breaking development, the drivers are never late when scheduled, typically a bit too conversational (even at that 5am Logan run), and the cars themselves are well-maintained. Not luxe, mind you, but comfortably cushioned, stain- and odor-free. And their fleet is large enough to where there always seems to be one nearby.
Of particular note: the folks at dispatch are an absolute hoot (absohoot?). Either THE most polite woman - loaded with P's & TY's - or the guy with the dry humor that had me belly-laughing during my most recent call (ask me why, it's cute), I'm always smiling when I hang up with them.
Who says that about a taxi service? I do. Five stars. - Donna S.York, ME0 friends21 reviews5 photos

8/9/2018Trash Trash Trash . Never use them unless you have a desire to be late for work or whereever you need a taxi to.They always recommend use The mobile app but that's only so they get less calls and and don't accommodate those who use the app. I just spent 20 minutes waiting on a taxi I ordered through the app and after 2 phone calls requesting an update I decided to call back and cancel since I was better off on foot, only To find out they had already cancelled my order and had me waiting for a taxi for an extra amount If your looking for an actual decent prompt taxi service NEVER USE THIS COMPANY THE DISPATCHORS LACK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMON DECENCY. You are more than likely better off on foot/using a Lyft or Uber service

6/20/2015On Saturday morning, there was no traffic, and we flagged down a cab in downtown Boston to get to Logan. At that time and under those conditions, a trip to Logan from downtown should cost ~$15-20 (including tip). In any case, a Green Cab vehicle pulled over and we got in. Turns out that was a mistake. The cab driver asked where we were going, and we replied "Logan." He then drove to I-93 north and took it to exit 28 in Somerville / Charleston, and he followed Cambridge Street to Rutherford Avenue. . . and then he got back on I-93 going south!
The entire time I kept saying "I don't understand this route" and "where are you going?" with no response. He ended up taking I-93 to the Callahan Tunnel and finally proceeding to Logan. Still no explanation from the driver regarding the reason for the completely unnecessary trip to Somerville, which was obviously done to run up the fare because by the time we arrived at Logan, the fare was $30. . . plus a $5 surcharge for unclear reasons (typically there is a $7.50 surcharge for LEAVING Logan, and a $2.75 surcharge for ARRIVING at Logan - the $2.75 surcharge was already included in our exorbitantly inflated meter price. The $5 'add on' was just nonsense.)
We told the driver we weren't paying, wanted a receipt and wanted to see his hackney license. I ended up giving him the $30 in order to get the receipt as evidence of this ridiculous over-charge. I called the company and was told that paying $30 (or $35) for a ride to Logan was "not right", but that nothing could be done about it because no managers were available until Monday.
So, on Monday I will call the Somerville Police Hackney Bureau (at 617-625-1000) and inform this of this. It's not entirely about the money (although getting ripped off like that is obnoxious), rather it's offensive that potential visitors to Boston are being taken advantage of by disreputable cab drivers. If Boston wants to continue to be a tourist destination and inspire return visits, this kind of behavior has to stop.
Bottom line: I'd avoid Green Cab vehicles unless you want an unnecessary, time-wasting, expensive detour included in your trip.

6/25/2015We did contact Jeremy within minutes of his review. We wanted to investigate to make sure this was our taxi for sure, as there are other Green Cab's and Yellow Cab's. Some of which are gypsy cabs trying to duplicate our logos. We offered to investigate and refund this customer but unfortunately did not hear back from him. We take pride in our service and would not want an unhappy customer. Mistakes do happen and we always choose to use them as teaching tools for our drivers when appropriate. I hope Jeremy contacts us so we can investigate further.

4/24/2015I WOULD CHOOSE UBER OVER THIS COMPANY ANY DAY.
I don't know about you but I was brought up to be respectful and not to talk like an a-hole to people who are trying to give you business.
I called to get an estimate from a train stop to the airport and after him sounding annoyed that it wasn't an EXACT address he told me a price. He told me I can't get picked up from there anyway because he needed an address so I gave him the address of the corner where I would be and named the cross streets. Mind you, it's really not hard to find.
Anyway, I didn't have a street house at the top of my head so because it took me a few seconds he interrupted me and rudely said 'call us back when you have the address we're busy here' and hung up on me. Excuse me? Do you think I'd actually call you back after you speak to me like that? Learn some manners. You're not getting any business from me. - Michelle A.Boston, MA388 friends496 reviews212 photos
7/23/2014Growing up in Somerville Green Cab is the ONLY cab I use and trust. The drivers all know the area and are able to effectively get you from Point A to Point B. No they don't drive luxury town cars or have a funny pink mustache in the front but I'll tell you what they do have. 35 years of phenomenal service in the Greater Boston area. That doesn't just happen by chance. Technology and competition can be a good thing. Driving businesses that might be set in their ways into more innovative and customer driven business practices. But there's something to be said about integrity and passion for a job well done. I believe the Chaille family has those qualities and puts out a great product by driving the masses to and from their destinations with class and dignity.
Last ride I got from in town I told the driver my address and he didn't have to punch it into any GPS. He asked Is that the old school they converted? That is correct sir! Wow it's nice knowing somebody pays attention. I leaned back and enjoyed the breeze through the window and the casual ride home.
A quote from one of the owners. "We constantly give back to our city and its citizens, especially the elderly and children. We have a non-profit and give FREE rides to senior citizens of Somerville. We care deeply about this city and have done many things to help improve city living."
Trust the Shamrock people! They won't steer you wrong! - Eve Marie G.Somerville, MA0 friends1 review
8/1/2014I used to not have a problem with Green Cab. I've lived in Somerville for 4 years, and they almost always have come early to get me, been very cordial and pleasant to speak with.
These men have helped me carry my groceries into the house, and picked me and my pet up to go to vet appointments.
Even when I had to go to work in a snow storm, they were there to get me afterwards. I never though about using Uber because of the good experiences I had supporting these drivers.
Now, however, I am just off a ride going into Cambridge from Somerville which SHOULD have taken 10 min. It definitely took 30 min. I am furious. This delay was not because of traffic or anything like that. Cab driver #13 on 8/1/14 at 7:50 am began to play the "Where should I go?" game while his working GPS was fully visible.
Clearly, when you have already driven past my home, driven me onto a dead end street and then keep asking "should I go here?" you aren't excited to have a passenger. I get it. But that I simply and politely asked you to go the way the GPS says or which you know works best to get me to the destination-that's not too much to ask.
Instead, this frustrating game ended up taking me on a tour of East Somerville, where, although the driver apparently did not know Cardinal Meideros, Highland Ave, Somerville Ave or anything like that, he knew enough that the roads behind Target and Cambridge St. are closed. Of course, he did not reveal this until after I had to play his game and ended up on those very streets, so we had to take the route all over again from the very congested (time=$) Union Square.
The incredible journey then ended with him breaking at every block asking if this was the destination, and then FINALLY with my office in sight...sat through a green light.
Who hired this jackass? This was quite possibly the worst ride of my life, ever. I tried to hold out for Green Cab over what was clearly cleaner and cheaper and FASTER service from Uber. Not anymore. This was ridiculous and a clear attempt at getting more money. Way to alienate a loyal customer. I will never use them again thanks to this- and I use the term loosely- 'gentleman'.

What do you do when you have a 5:45 AM flight to catch? Why, make an online reservation with Green Cab, of course. Seriously, the online reservation process was awesome and took less than 5 minutes! You just make an account, add your starting and ending point plus the date and time you wanna get picked up...easy peasy. I'll admit that I was a little nervous because my phone reservation got lost once (6 AM reservation accidentally marked as 6 PM...ahh) so I called to confirm that there would indeed be someone picking me up at the ungodly hour of 4 AM. Dispatcher was great and confirmed that someone was already on their way. The driver was awesome - friendly and courteous. He even went out of his way to make sure he had enough change before he picked me up.
Only downside to Green Cab is that they don't use a GPS system so if you don't know where you're going, make sure you look up the directions beforehand or pull them up on your phone. - Kelli B.Clearwater, FL178 friends32 reviews1 photo
2/9/2015This company is extremely unreliable. I've scheduled multiple days ahead only to be met with a late driver, a no show or a cancelation on their part.
Once, I scheduled for a certain time, the cab got there early, and left with no notification whatsoever. By the time I reached dispatch, I had actually gotten halfway to my destination on foot.
I wanted to trust these guys, especially since I'm a resident of Somerville and enjoy supporting local businesses. However, they've proved themselves time and again to be disorganized, careless, and non dependable.

2/19/2015I did contact Kelli with no response. We did cancel some reservations due to the travel ban. We have had extended wait times as well, due to road conditions, traffic and gridlock traffic. Our goal is to get everyone in the most efficient manner within our limits. We would love to keep Kelli as a customer. We are local and support many organizations in our community ;)

5/15/2016I emailed Green Cab on a Wednesday night asking about making a reservation for a Sunday night pickup at Logan. I never got a reply.
When I'm in Boston I will always take Green Cab and Yellow Cab. I was completely taken aback by the fantastic service I received from Green ca Yellow Cab company. All I can say is WOW! I merely want to let others know of of experience when I initially posted my review on Wednesday night. I believed Green Cab didn't care whether I needed a cab on Sunday night, but that is absolutely wrong. Green cab never got my email and the owner notified me right away after I posted my initial review. She researched the email issue and was very apologetic and professional. I still needed a cab and had just started another search. Since I'm not from Boston and the cab was for my daughter who was getting into Logan late I decided to give Green Cab & Yellow Cab a try because of the professional way the owner treated me in our email exchange. Green cab exceeded my expectations in service. They called my daughter when she landed, gave her instructions on where to meet the driver, and got her to her apt safely. When my daughter gave the driver the prearranged fare amount, he said the fare was already taken care of. My daughter lives in Boston and has a many friends there and we both will always highly recommend Green Cab and Yellow Cab. - Suzanne M.Belmont, MA22 friends1 review
6/27/2017Made a reservation the day before my very early flight to the west coast. Luckily my neighbor was able to take me when this company never showed up. When I called to find out where the driver was they said - we have no record of yr reservation with no attempt to make it right. I was on my own to get to the airport. This was the third time I used this co - the first time was gear, second just ok and then the no show. I will be looking for new transportation to the airport.

6/29/2017It is my understanding that this review belongs to another company. I have reached out to this customer but have not had a response. We only accept reservations via phone at (617) 625-5000, at our website greenandyellowcab.com or via our free mobile app. There is never an incidence where someone would call a driver to reserve a taxi at our company.

6/14/2014I have taken this taxi service to the airport several times. The taxi has NEVER been on time. This morning was the last straw-- 10 minutes after the taxi was supposed to arrive, I called to confirm he was still coming. The man I spoke to barked at me that he had called me because the taxi was there and it went straight to voicemail. Maybe this is true, but my phone didn't ring and I didn't see a missed call. I use uber and lyft and the calls from those drivers always seem to come through... anyway, if he did in fact call, he didn't bother to leave me a message or try to call again. Just told the guy to leave. Luckily the driver was still nearby so he was able to pick me up.
I am giving this 3 stars instead of 2 because my drivers have always been friendly and courteous and the taxis are clean.
