GORDON SQUARE is a super cool arts district with lots to do and see. This is a very walkable neighbourhood with bus stops as well. There are still some shops that I want to visit.

FOOD -- Blue Habanero and Spice Kitchen are by far my favourite places to eat in this district. Blue Habanero is a taco restaurant that I love. Although their tacos are smaller than the ones at Barrio, the taco dinners (3 tacos) come with two sides which in the end make the whole meal worthwhile. They also have lunch option. Spice Kitchen is another local restaurant that has tasty food. It is an American restaurant with a farm to table concept. So you'll find fresh ingredients sourced from their own farm. I recommend that you try their specials when you visit. It is a further down the street from the Gordon Square district but it is not too far.

Astoria Cafe & Market and Boiler 65 are other food options that I want to visit.

THEATRE/MOVIES -- The Cleveland Public Theatre, Capitol Theatre, and Near West Theatre are still 3 theatres that I have to visit. If you love the arts then you should come and catch a show at one or all of these theatres.

TEA/COFFEE -- Relax over at Gypsy Beans and Baking Company cafe. They sell tea, coffee, pastries, and have a full service menu for lunch.

      SWEET TREATS with DRINKS --

      1) DONUTS - I don't drink alcohol but Brewnuts is a popular spot amongst the locals or at least the tourists. They sell alcohol and donuts. Their donuts are thicker and more doughy than I would prefer but they are unique because beer is an ingredient added into their donut mixture.
      2) ICE CREAM - Sweet Moses Soda Fountain and Treat Shop is a heaven.

VEGAN / SMOOTHIES -- The Daily Press is a vegan cafe that I recently visited in June 2019. They sell juices, sandwiches, and even body soaps. The shop is very small but they have some tables and chairs to sit on.

Enjoy your visit to the Gordon Square Arts District. Read my Yelp reviews on all the business that I've visited.

Been here to try "BREWNUTS" but unfortunately they are closed for holidays.

Nothing else to do , strolled around the hood and they really got some cool murals.

Pretty soon 25th will be a thing of the past, a memory, Gordon Sq. is like Cleveland's own BTNH - Creepin' on a Come Up. Fast.

The Capitol theatre is an old actual theatre, restored and transformed into a movie theatre. It has a classical almost Renaissance look to it. They serve Great Lakes brewery products, not too cheap, but they have them if you desire. Films are relatively new and it's a toss up on what movies will air here wether big movies or low budget, I like all types of movies so I'm good either way. Right across the street lies a good coffee shop.

Gypsy Bean Cafe, who has awesome coffee and amazing pastries, free wifi and an all new 65th and Detroit side patio. Great for PAX on a nice Summer day.

A little further down lies XYZ and Cleveland Public Theatre. On the NW corner of 65th is a new women's clothing store which seems to be stirring up quite a bit of convo and turning even more heads in the process. Ladies, check it out. Step your game up from Forever21 and Charlotte Russe, this is where the real women shop.

Rincon Criollo, a very good Spanish restaurant. 10$ will get you a meal guaranteed to fill you up, especially if you eat in. It makes a difference.

Ilthy, I'm not sure what it is, a skate shop, shoe store, it has awesome paintings up though.

Hausfrau Record shop is North of the Capitol Theatre. Awesome record shop. Amazing Reggae/Dub records. Records ONLY. THEY STAY 100!!!

Happy Dog is down on 58th/Detroit, Parkview Nightclub directly North. Once you pass the Patrol Zone you're there.

So, come check out the Detroit Shoreways, Gordon Sq. arts District

The Gordon Square Arts District is a hidden jem in Cleveland. From what I have heard, it's come a long way in the past few years. The renovation is amazing! Even the bus stops have an art feel to them. The area is very clean and has multiple shops to stroll around in. This district constantly has special events to attend. There are also 3 theaters in this area!! The Capitol Theater is a great place to see independent films and the latest blockbuster hit. Eventhough the area is smaller than Ohio City, I would absolutely give it a chance. Parking is always easy with the mutiple FREE lots, so its a great place to go any night of the week!

      First to Review

I took a walk through this supposedly up and coming area today as I headed to brunch at Luxe. Brunch was very good and you can find my review of Luxe on their page or via my Best Weekend Brunch list. As for the area most of the shops were closed as it was a Sunday but there were quite a few shops along the walk from the small but free parking lot to brunch. There was a good mix of types of stores but not all the stores are those that one would make daily purchases in - there was a really cool design furniture store, a coffee shop, an ice cream shop and some small businesses. There is a cinema and a theatre here. I would definitely like to take a look through the furniture store and plan to keep my eye on the theatre's events calendar now that I know it is here. This is a nice addition for the local residents however like most of the great areas in Cleveland they are not connected by neighbouring great areas. Regardless of whether you get here on foot or by car however it is a nice area to spend some time giving to the local economy and enjoying the refurbishments that have been done to the area (wider sidewalks to allow for patios and sidewalk benches and art etc...).
