Good Karma Cafe

Good Karma Cafe gave me the most delicious meal of my life. The fact that I can order anything off the menu (being vegetarian, this is a huge perk) made me SO excited.

I had mac and cheese when I went last and could not stop eating. It was one of the best things I have ever tasted!

I absolutely cannot wait to return to Good Karma when the weather gets better! I hope the weather gets nice soon, so I can take a drive down. Worth every minute in the car!

I got take out a couple weeks ago. Was very excited to see they offer a lot on their menu that all sounded great. We got the mac and cheese, pad thai, buffalo "wings", cheese "steak", tiramisu, and lemonade.
Right off the bat, these portions were huge! We had left overs the next day of everything.
The mac and cheese had good flavor (spicy!). The coconut "bacon" was very clever but the noodles were overcooked for my taste. :/
Pad thai was odd. Didn't really taste like pad thai which is surprising because I make vegan pad thai at home every now and then and it's not hard to keep the thai flavors while omitting fish sauce and egg. Noodles were also overcooked.
Buffalo "wings" were good! Spouse ate all of them and said they wanted more.
The cheese "steak" was pretty good. The meat substitute they use has a nice texture and it's a satisfying sandwich. It's def messy though!
Tiramisu was again odd. Didn't taste like Tiramisu. It tasted more like a caramel pudding. It was still nice to have as a sweet treat, maybe they just need to name it something else?
Lemonade was bad. It tasted like it was instant, not fresh. We only took a sip and ended up throwing it out. :C
I'm still very happy this place is here and would try it again now that I know a few items on the menu. It just seems a couple of their dishes need rethinking. Also, staff was very friendly :)

One star for the restaurant being one of the few vegan places that actually has raw/live food. And the second star for the fact that it came out fast. A third star for great music. Then it went downhill.

My husband and I had a male waiter who wasn't very attentive. We asked for straws for our water; never got them. I had to get up to get us straws.

When my food arrived, it was delicious, but the side of guacamole was bad (and brown). A waitress came over to see how we were doing -- right when I had food in my mouth. Now, note, a good/attentive waiter/waitress comes over when you don't have food in your mouth and when you're in between conversation. It has been done before, in higher end restaurants. Small restaurants should up their game and learn from this. She didn't wait for me to finish chewing, so I had to get up a second time to let them know my guacamole was bad.

THEN, and this really takes the cake, the male waiter said, "Avocados go bad quickly."

I said, "So you serve them to your patrons that way?"

Wow, just wow. Who says that? And who does that? If your food is bad, you don't serve it. Who eats brown guacamole?

Anyway, another waitress (maybe a manager) made it okay. She bought over some of the topping with some more food to go with it. That was really nice and I thanked her. But I don't think I'll be returning for a long time. We didn't even stay for dessert, and that's unlike me in a healthy restaurant.

This was the second time I went here. The first time was about two years ago. It seemed more roomy then. They put in a long bar-like table with chairs and we were told that is for "take out only." (I wanted to ask the male waiter why they changed it, but I started to ask him and he walked away while I was talking to him. So not cool!)

It could be a great place, but they really need to get their act together. And note, my husband did leave a great tip in spite of all this. We deserved better.

I'm terms of vegan food it's not the best but there is something to be said about having an all vegan restaurant. The inside is unimpressive and I tend to chose other vegan restaurants over this one.

The food is pretty decent and the deserts are good! I come back occasionally but it's not my first choice.

BEST VEGAN MAC N CHEESE EVER!!!!! We got the vegan Mac n cheese, banh mi, and tiramisu and all were amazing!! The Mac n cheese tasted creamy and spicy, the banh Mi was flavorful, and the tiramisu tasted really good but had more of a pudding consistency. Seating is a little tight because there's not much space in the cafe, but the food was so good I will come back again!!

AMAZING!!! I love Good Karma Cafe, I will say that I came when they were only offering takeout and the food is much better served fresh rather than takeout

The food is amazing here. They always have different specials and everything I have ordered is delicious.

However, they don't deliver. I would order 3x the amount that I already do if they delivered.

They don't accommodate orders at a certain time. I will be driving home and they tell me to call back when it's closer. (I call one hour in advance) When it gets closer I have the chance of them being busier and the order not being ready when I need it. Which is exactly what happened! They aren't trying to do what is convenient for the customer at all.

They told me my order was ready between 40 and 50 minutes. I walked there when it was freezing out it's a couple blocks from my house- I got there at 50 minutes. I had to wait another 15 outside in the freezing cold.

And my mom tried ordering me a giftcard for here and left three messages and never heard back.

I always wants to support local vegan restaurants but I do hope they make a couple changes soon.

They are inflexible and it's frustrating ordering from them.

Located in Monmouth County New Jersey and rated as one of the top 25 Vegan restaurants by NJ Monthly magazine, Good Karma serves tasty vegan food.  The atmosphere is funky/hipster with a smallish dining area that is good for smaller dining groups.  Bright walls are adorned with colorful artwork and views of the nearby open kitchen can be seen as smelled.

The menu is varied and includes items such as soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, wraps, live food, juices, smoothies and desserts.  The portions are generous and are made with organic produce and plant-based ingredients.  The entrees are mostly asian inspired but there are some familiar comfort foods like mac and cheese, buffalo wings, nachos and quesadillas. Having dined at Good Karma several times and having tried various menu options, the food is delicious. The blend of spices, sauces and use of plant-based protein sets Good Karma apart from other vegan eateries in the area.

Eyes must be closed to taste the heavenly soul within.
You would swear that an angel made this

Being that this spot was a two hour drive from where I live, it was worth the trip, other vegan spots in the area need not be mentioned..

Even if your not a vegan you need to stop here..

We came during COVID In early November, I had hoped to sit down but the aromas kept me from walking away.

Holy plants! This food is beyond beyond. I drove over an hour to eat this food because of Instagram and we ordered pickup when we were 15 minutes away and we couldn't get through and when we finally did they put us on hold and then they kept taking other calls when we were putting in our order and they were like its gonna be forty five minutes after they charged us and I was like you gotta be kidding me and when we finally picked up the order they only gave the two of us one fork but you know what? NONE OF THAT MATTERS BECAUSE THIS FOOD IS INCREDIBLE.
