      Updated review

Updated 7/20/2017 - visiting Ashland/Bayfield area. Had such a great time last year at good earth, decided to do it again. It was fantastic! Captain mike does a great job. We had a wonderful time. Be sure to give them a try and also check out their shop. Thanks!!

July 2016 - We discovered these folks from a pamphlet we picked up in a restaurant down in Ashland. We had planned on going to Michigan for a day trip, but with the terrible storm damage and wash outs - decided to change our plans. Let me just say our Sea Cave trip with captain Mike could not have been any better! We had such a great time. The boat was so fun and fast. The lake and caves were great. And Mike was very personable and knowledgeable. Also, their gift shop is very nice too. I highly recommend. And the only thing I'm disappointed about, is the fact that we didn't discover them sooner. Our trip was ABSOLUTELY GREAT. Hard working people - helping families build lasting vacation memories. Highly recommend!!!!!!! Thanks again!!!!! Jamie Independence Iowa

If you want to see the sea caves (aka the Ice Caves) this s the way to go. Captain Mike is a life long resident and knows all the history. He expertly maneuvers his boat into and around the caves. He shares local lore and geology of the caves. In an hour and a half you are treated to a memorable experience.

Captain Mike made sure we received all the safety briefings we needed in a fun and delightful way.His boat handling skills were superb, getting us as close to the cave walls as humanly possible.Very informative and answered all our questions. We had taken the "big boat" tour earlier.Although it was cheaper, the experience was not nearly as good as this one.Tour was a great " bang for the buck" at a tad over $50 per person.I can recommend this( and I don't recommend a lot).

I researched all the ways to see the sea caves, and Captain Mike's Adventure Tour was, by far, the best. His price for a 6 hour tour is the same as others charge for 3 hours. He planned a custom tour to see all the most beautiful sea caves on the mainland and the islands, 3 lighthouses, and still make it to the best vantage point for the most specatular sunset we've ever seen, including in Hawaii. In addition to bringing us so close to the caves we could almost touch them, he even was able to back up into and inside one of the caves! His boat is so quiet, when we watch our videos we don't even hear it. A professional photographer was on the tour with my husband and me, and Mike easily handled his boat to go back and forth and stop, for Greg to get the exact lighting he was looking for. Having grown up in the area, Mike shared alot of interesting history of the islands and the lighthouses. He obviously loves what he does and shares it in such a friendly manner. We stopped at Raspberry Island and walked around the beautiful grounds of the lighthouse - I almost didn't get off the boat because of the steps to get up to the top of the island, but I'm sure glad Mike told me it would be worth it, and it definitely was!
Captain Mike's Adventure Tour was easily the highlight of our trip to the Apostle Islands! I wish I could give 10 stars

We took a tour of the sea caves with Captain Mike on 7/5/15. Without planning ahead, we called around for a tour boat the morning of. Really glad I found Good Earth. Mike was a great guide and was very knowledgeable about the area. I can recommend their tour services with confidence.

This was an excellent experience. The reservation process was so easy. There is a cute gift shop to shop while waiting for our boat tour. They had great jewelry options at really good prices; there were T-shirts, candles and all kinds of variety. I would make a trip to this little store even if I weren't going on a boat ride. I plan to do a little gift shopping before leaving the area. I was a little nervous about being on a boat, Captain Mike made us feel totally safe. He shared all kinds of history about the area. He was able to give us a ton of information about rock formations, plants and Lake Superior. It is obvious that he loves his job and loves the area. He was able to get the boat right into the caves. Mike even pointed out some of the best photo opportunities. I am so glad we didn't choose one of the big companies and big tour options. I would recommend this tour and this tour company, specifically, to everyone.

I would do this tour again. I would tell anyone thinking about a similar boat tour... stop looking. Go with Mike and Good Earth Outfitters. Mike was all about keeping us safe and making sure we were having a great time.

My husband and I called a day in advance to book a sea caves tour. We were driving up from Illinois and rainy weather was predicted for several days. We were staying in Bayfield. When we read up on the tour offered by a place in town, it sounded like it would be too long (3 hours) and too many people (a maximum of 40) in case of bad weather. We decided to roll the dice and go with this 1-1/2 hour tour that took just 4 people. Captain Mike's wife could not be nicer as she answered all of my questions before we made our reservation. She said no one else had booked yet, but that could easily change. We showed up a bit early the day of the tour and no one else had booked which meant we would have to default to one of the two other sea cave tours offered that day again, (providing two other people had signed on), but there was a couple looking around the gift shop and thinking about if they wanted to join us in spite of the iffy weather. They decided to join us, so it was a go for the noon tour. We had a fantastic time! Captain Mike is a great guy and tour guide - very conversational and full of interesting information. What I really appreciated about him was that he seemed like he was giving this tour for the first time - he seemed as interested as we were in the sea caves! He is incredibly knowledgeable and an easy conversationalist. We wish we could go back and take his other tours. We gave him a tip - which was not expected nor mentioned, but very much appreciated. We highly recommend this business!
