9/23/2021Absolutely stunning and breathtaking museum!
Over the last several years, I've visited this place plenty of times. The architecture and garden absolutely blow my mind every time. It's a great place to study, relax, have a picnic, and walk around. It's appropriate for all ages and is wheelchair accessible.
For art lovers, they offer a variety to see and even have the Iris painting by Van Gogh on display. The main art doesn't seem to rotate much but they do have a new exhibit every so often.
Prior to the pandemic, they did have umbrellas for shade and rainy days.
Food & water- On the pricey side but you can bring in your own.
Admission- Free but they do require online reservations.
Parking- $20 per vehicle before 3 pm. $15 for after 3 pm. After parking, you take the stairs or elevators to the free tram. You either can take a 5-minute tram or walk 20 minutes to the actual museum.
Restrooms- Clean and plenty!

9/16/20211 check-inArt. If you love art, you'll love this place.
Went on a Sunday, took 45 minutes to catch the tram. Every viewing room was packed, but we were able to see it all.
Closing time, another 30 minute wait for the tram.
Pro-tip, you can pay for your parking at the gate, don't wait in long lines for the payment machine.
Enjoy! - 1402512999
9/15/2021Absolutely beautiful!

Food is expensive but great, coffee is reasonable!
It's a very clean area. Need a full day to visit this place. Absolutely wonderful ! No words can describe.

9/12/2021Cannot believe that admission to the Getty Center is free!! Parking is $20 per vehicle but it is totally worth it since you could spend the whole day their looking at the exhibits. I went here many years ago and it appears that they remodeled and enhanced the center garden. I also remembered that they had a person-operated tram that was similar to the ones at Disneyland but now is an automatic one similar to a slow speed monorail. Glad they have reinvested money to make the Getty Center an even better experience than it already was.
If the Getty Center were open at night time, it would compete with the Griffith Observatory for the best view of LA. The central garden is a great place to also take pictures and hang out - especially for a date idea or group hangout.
There is one Van Gogh painting, "Irises", that is currently on display. Parts of the Getty Center are closed until January 2022 for the Impressionism exhibit which features Monet's Spring piece. Most of the Getty Center is open but if you want to be able to see the new exhibit January would be a great time to visit! - 89227873
9/4/20211 check-inWe made online reservations for 10 am on Saturday. Upon our arrival to the entrance of the parking lot we were directed to our parking spot after getting our ticket from the machine. The payment for parking is the entrance fee to the art center, the cost is $20.
A Yelp tip: you are able to bring your own food in and have lunch on the grounds at both the center and the villa.
The building and gardens are modern and beautiful. The art inside is from all eras, large permanent collection with one temporary exhibit. Prior to covid they had different events for families. We really enjoy our visits here. - 14100424
9/18/2021So we went to the Getty Center today in Westwood! Parking was a little hard to find due to the amount of people on Saturday. Waited for about 3 minutes to take the tram up to the Getty Center. We spent about 2 and a half hours and it flew by! The wait for the tram on the way down took about 5 minutes. I suggest getting there earlier to beat some of the traffic since it was getting really packed when we were leaving. Overall, an incredible experience, parking was $20 but well worth it!

8/19/20211 check-inThe Getty Center is sprawling and amazing. I decided to spend my last afternoon in LA checking out this beautiful space!
Admission to the Getty Center is free but if you're driving then you'll pay $20 for parking but it is 1000% worth it. After you park, you'll hop on a tram ride which will take you all the way up to the main entrance.
There's a huge collection of art, wonderful displays of nature and great views of LA. There's a fantastic outdoor garden with water and beautiful variety of flowers. Had I had more time I would've spent the entire day here!
If you're feeling hungry, there's a restaurant on location as well as small cafes all over to grab some water, coffee and snack in between all the different exhibitions and buildings.
I look forward to returning to the Getty Center next time I'm in town! - 7386684903
8/7/2021Phenomenal museum!! A must-do if you're anywhere even close to Los Angeles. The views alone are worth a trip here, as is the architecture and of course, the art. I try to make a stop here whenever I'm in the area. Due to time constraints, I only had 3 hours here today, which was really nothing. Ok, it's not the Met, but I'd still suggest spending at least 2 full days to view all the exhibits at a leisurely pace.
I've had a long love affair with Rococo art. There's a permanent collection here with some pieces, but wish there were more. View a portrait by Nattier (of Constance Gabrielle Magdeleine Bonnier de la Mosson) which is a classic representation of portraits he was commissioned to paint of women during the 18th century. There's also a nice collection of still life, which I also enjoy. And don't miss the perfectly manicured gardens!
Believe or not, admission is FREE, plus reasonably priced parking.
TIPS:
1) Reservations are now required. It's works out well during COVID-19, because even on a Friday afternoon today, the galleries weren't overly packed at all.
2) Lines are pretty long for the tram (like 30+minutes). Typically, I would've just taken the the 20 minute hike up the hill, but it was too hot! - 38821083
9/12/2021The Getty is one of L.A.'s best gems for sure. The place is FREE! (except for the parking but that's a reasonable thing to ask for). The tram that takes you from the parking structure to the museum has A/C and pleasant elevator music playing in the background. The actual Getty campus is big, beautiful, spacious, pleasant to be in and it has one of the most gorgeous gardens you could find in all of SoCal. There are various pavilions with many exhibits and it would take you around 3 hours to see them all at a reasonable pace. Truly a 100% recommended destination, whether you're a tourist or a local.

8/7/2021First time coming after driving by it numerous times on the infamous 405
Admission is free
Reservations are required for time slots entry
Parking is 20 good for both the Getty center and Getty villa if visit on the same day - parking garage very accessible
Structure open at 9:30
Getty open at 10
Masks require inside building including the parking structure elevator tram areas
Have your ticket accessible as they scan your ticket prior to taking the tram or walking up the hill. Bag check will occur after. Bottle water allowed, food seem to not be
Chose to walk up the upon entry - pending pace 15-20 mins along a tree line street and can see tram traveling back and forth on your left - hill overlook the fwy
Prior to entering area to wander to see some sculptures and view of the city in all its smog burning off :)
Recommended to wear a hat comfortable walking shoes bring sunblock and water
The garden area is beautiful - so many flowers to see and hummingbirds zipping in and out - different pathways sand cement water features around the main central garden and water trickling through the rocks and bridge
Plenty of benches to sit around in the shade to admire the view
Artwork sculptures historical furniture rooms European neoclassical marble sculptures photography printed artwork in the various pavilions - easy to explore to get lost
Definitely paid off to get here at opening as by the time late morning to noon hit lot more people arriving trying to find parking longer waits in certain spots
Must come back indeed ! Thank you Rongi for your super helpful tips in exploring the grounds and artwork and in a nutshell wander and get lost!
I took over a 170 plus photo and video combined so I didn't want to give away a lot of it but it sure is worth the trip and I saw plenty in 3 hours :)
