This was my PCP for the past 4 years, however with all of the recent changes and staff turnaround, this place his gone downhill. It is not the providers, its the office management that could use a little more training in business management and overall professionalism. The look of the office is a clear reflection of the people behind the scenes... you may be asking who are you to say that??... well... being in healthcare management and as a practicing healthcare provider, I am aware of how to run doctor's practices/offices in a way in which it reflects great customer service, clean patient rooms and outstanding. This unfortunately that is not the case here. I hope they can pull it together soon, but if you are looking for a new place to go, please look elsewhere, it will be for YOUR OWN GOOD!!

It is always our goal to provide the highest level of care from the front desk, to the back office, to management. We regret that we have not met your expectations and that you have chosen to seek medical care closer to your home.

Dr. Mina Garrett-Scott is the GREATEST PCP that I have had in years. She is kind, caring and comprehensive in her approach to the patient as a whole. The front desk is well a front desk. The nursing staff is professional. The office is clean, bright and orderly. I highly recommend the services of Dr. Mina Garrett-Scott. She is well educated and focused on women's care. If you are a female - she's the PCP for you. She also will communicate directly with you via their Patient Portal. Fast and clear responses without a middle person has made my life so much easier! I read the other reviews and I can state this is not my opinion of this practice.

Hello, thank you for the wonderful review! We're so happy you received the care you deserve and had a great experience with us.

Dr Garrett-Scott prescribed me the wrong meds several times. Heart meds for anxiety and pain induced high BP. My heart nearly stopped and I was hospitalized. Went back figuring it was an easy enough mistake because we hadnt worked together long. About a year later she put me on Cipro, I called because of the large swollen painful welts on my legs. She tells me to finish it, the next day the welts are the size of quarters. I call back and she still tells me to finish it. 3 days later she called and had to switch my antibiotic because it didn't cover what I had for an infection. The cipro gave me vasculitis. I'm now disabled because of joint damage from the cipro.
Given meds 2 times for diseases I didn't have!
She also failed to diagnosis my husband's brain bleed after a car accident. He his in saying his head is pounding and "it's the worst headache he's ever had" she prescribed tramidol for the pain, but no head scan. After 2 weeks of this we went to the hospital, aneurysm in his brain.
Avoid this place at all costs!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danielle W.Alexandria, VA42502May 30, 2017
Consider this a PSA: do not choose this office. There has been so much turnover the past year and a half and it is easy to see why. When we moved here, it was a pretty good office but recently with the essentially lack of staff, it is horrible as you are treated as a number. When we moved here I think the rating was like 3.7 (beacuse I always check). You can see now something has changed.
It seems like the inherent issue is that they have too many patients and not enough staff, which makes sense as a business you want to generate money. But there is a point you need to stop accepting new patients because the quality of the service has gone downhill. Thankfully, we are moving away soon and will no longer have to deal with this office.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dr.Scott and her staff have been pleasant to work with for the past 3 years. There was a period of time where they were transferring data online and Dr.Nyugens departure that caused some turmoil but for the most part, the staff is helpful and my voice messages are always returned after 24 hours. I also believe they take most insurance companies which is a plus.
There can be scheduling conflicts because of the high volume but if you have a cold or a flu, the physicians assistant usually has time to see you. I would plan to schedule physicals ahead of time. I love Dr.Scott and would highly recommend her as a primary care physician! She's attentive, helpful and cares about you as a person. Overall, a great place with a great staff.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cam N.Herndon, VA56281Mar 28, 2016
When I first moved to Virginia, my family told me this would be our new doctor. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a good practice that put patients first. Over the years that care has declined.
-They never keep their appointment time and you are left waiting beyond the specified time (while missing work for this appointment mind you)
-The front desk is very rude
-The doctors rush you in and out, almost not even listening to what is actually wrong with you. Just to get to the next customer
-Worst of all what sent me and my family packing looking for a new doctor is the fact that my sick mother went in there and was treated very poorly. I forget the name, but a male african american nurse, jammed a q-tip up my mothers nose for a sample. He was so rough, that she started bleeding when she left the office. Every other test he ran he was basically hurting her, even when she told him to stop.
Any care in this place is long gone.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heidi R.Arlington, VA0391Oct 22, 2015
I needed a simple thing from this office: to have a prescription refilled. In my efforts to refill this prescription, my pharmacy and I have been calling this office for 6 days. I myself have called 8 times, left 3 voicemail messages, and sent 1 email in any attempt to make contact with the office.
After calling 8 times in 6 days, I was able to speak with a human being only 1 time. I thought finally now that I had a person (Kimberly) on the line, my issue would be resolved. Instead, Kimberly put me on hold, then asked me to hang up and wait for someone to call me back. I asked why the issue could not be resolved immediately, but Kimberly could not provide an explanation. Finally, I agreed to hang up, asking that someone call me back within the hour. Of course, no one did, and no one picked up when I tried again to call back later.
At the end of the day, I received a voicemail from the office asking me to call back and leave a voicemail with my personal information.... Yet, I had already done EXACTLY THAT 3 times at this point. I don't understand why I am expected to call and provide my personal information a FOURTH time.
I do not understand why my request to refill a prescription is continually ignored or lost. The inefficiency and incompetence of this office has now left me with no medication and apparently no way to even speak with a representative, much less to obtain a simple refill.
I am furious. There is no excuse for this degree of incompetence and I have no intention to see this office again or to recommend it to anyone.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

After 4 visits in the last 3 months I am confident that I will NEVER return to this practice. I have had it!
The first appointment was fine (obviously they like to give a good first impression).
The second appointment, I was pregnant, really sick with green mucus in my sinuses and a terrible cough and they instructed me to take over the counter medications and to come back if it didn't get better in a few days. Why?! So you can charge me and my insurance company AGAIN because obviously I've already been taking over the counter meds and they aren't working? I even asked if they could just call something in for me and no, of course they can't. So of course, I had to go back a third time for a follow up a week later (wasting more time away from work), so that they could say "Hey, you really are sick and here is a course of antibiotics we should have given you a week ago."
So because they were so convenient to my work I went back today for the fourth visit, pregnant, with an ear infection/throbbing ear ache and they told me I had fluid behind my ear and my ear drum was bulging, but to take Sudafed and drink tea and it MAY flush it out and if it doesn't get better in a few days I may need to come back. AGAIN? REALLY? I don't think so!!!
I now have to go to ANOTHER doctor...and this time it will be a REAL doctor since every time I have gone into the GFP office they assign me to a Family Nurse Practitioner or a Physicians Assistant. Not to mention their terrible customer service and constantly being behind schedule. They are NEVER on schedule. My appointment today was at 9:10AM and they didn't bring me back until 9:40AM. How can you possibly be that backed up at 9AM on a Thursday when your practice JUST opened at 8am? Of course while I'm waiting a poor elderly man who was hard at hearing sat next to me and the front desk ladies didn't hesitate to give him a hard time about him showing up 10 minutes late and how he may not be able to be seen, even though his appointment was for a full 15 minutes. Give the man a break and give him his 5 minutes!
On a billing note - My second bill was over $200 and the third bill was over $300. I asked the front desk ladies why my second bill cost less than my third when the third was for a follow up visit and they said they have nothing to with the charges and that billing handles them and they could provide me with their number. So.. you're telling me that billing decides that they should just randomly charge an extra $100 for a follow up visit based on no input from the front desk?! I don't buy it.
As I said previously...I will NEVER return to this practice and I would never suggest them to any of my family or friends.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My family moved to Reston in July 2015 and picked these folks as our PCP. While it seemed okay at first, they quickly had some staff turnover and the whole operation became kind of a disaster. My family and I have made appointments, and when we show up we consistently wait *at least* 45 minutes to see a doctor. I've waited as long as 1.5 hours.
Because they don't have enough doctors to service all their patients, we have been unable to get our very young children (including a newborn) in for appointments in a reasonable time. We had to switch the children to another pediatrician, because when a very small child is sick, you can't make appointments 6 weeks in advance.
On one occasion, my wife was 4 minutes late for an appointment for a 4-week-old baby. The administrative staff let someone else in ahead of her and scolded her for being late (bear in mind that, as discussed previously, we consistently wait 45 minutes to get in even if we're early).
On another occasion, I waited an hour or more to see the doctor for follow up on the results of a blood draw. When the doctor came in, he realized that he had everything except the information I was there to discuss. He had to leave and go get the relevant results, creating even more delay. Then when he finally came back and discussed the relevant information with me, he did it in a way that I felt was unkind and somewhat unprofessional.
He was a temporary doctor brought in to bridge the gap in coverage they have had with all the staff turnover. I think he's leaving in 2016 sometime, but the point is that as of late 2015, this practice has been in a state of apparent turmoil. The doctors and NPs have mostly been good when we finally see them, but the waiting is a consistent problem that is ultimately unacceptable, and has pushed us to change PCPs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Unfortunately we will be looking for a new family doctor. Over the past year their customer service has declined drastically. The new doctors barely give you any time and aren't proactive about providing you with a follow up schedule. I have an infant under a year and have had to call numerous times to see when we need to return for a check up. No one on staff seems to know. When we last went in for his vaccines, they were out of two of them and told us to go to CVS to get one. CVS then told us that they don't administer shots to infants. We had to go back to Generations TWICE more because they forgot they he needed a third!
I also had a nurse call me and a leave me a voicemail every day for a full week about one of these vaccinations that my child needed. I had already called and set up an appointment to come in and get it done. Apparently that information wasn't communicated to the nursing staff. When I called reception to tell them that I kept getting these calls (because I didn't want to waste their time), the girl who answered yelled back to the nurses station, "she said to stop calling her!"
Very disappointed in this practice as it is very convenient to our home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
