Genbu Waffles

Delicious! We really enjoyed this treat one evening while we were in town from out of state. You can't beat ice cream wrapped in a soft, freshly made waffle. So yummy!!

What a delicious ice cream treat! I got the Hazel cub made with the og waffle cone that was just baked to perfection with the right amount of crunch and crisp. It came with vanilla icecream, some oreo bits, nutella drizzled, strawberries, and strawberry pockys. It was absolutely phenomenal! Definitely makes a regular waffle cone seem mediocre to these beautiful creations.

My boyfriend got the black tortoise with a cookies and cream waffle, cookies and cream icecream, an oreo, oreo pockys, and some mochi. Equally as yummy but Iike the og waffle cone better.

The service was great and the guy that helped us was super nice. I would definitely come back to try other flavors!

It took forever and a day to stop by Genbu Waffles even with all my friends popping in and posting their pictures all over Instagram, Facebook, and Yelp but I finally got my butt in here.

Too bad as soon as I walked in, I got a call from my buddy to get dinner with him and his wife so I had to stop myself from ordering more. So much to try!

We ended up getting a Black Tortoise and a HK Lemon Iced Tea to share. The Black Tortoise had good flavor and was really crisp. I was expecting a creamier interior so I was surprised. The ice cream helped give everything some moisture. All in all, I was pleased.

I do want to come back and try our some of their other creations. Thumbs up!

Dropped by Genbu Waffles on a burning hot Saturday with a friend in order to get a puffle and was not disappointed. My wildest dessert dreams were certainly realized.

We ended up sharing the Maroon Bear which is the red velvet puffle with ice cream, ferrero rocher, cream cheese frosting, pocky, and chocolate sauce. Super good! I loved that the puffle itself was crispy on the outside, but still soft on the inside. It's hard to get that balance a lot of times so I loved how easily they were able to pull it off. All in all the whole dish was great and definitely fulfilled my dessert sweet tooth cravings.

Parking is easy, service is nice, and the puffles are great so get out there and try them! I'll have to go back to give the HK milk tea and some of the other puffles a try~

Fun, artistic, and delicious! Located next to Korea Mart is a fun place to get your dessert on. You can choose from 4-5 themed ice cream and waffle based desserts. Be sure to share with your favorite person!
My bf and I got the Oreo ice cream, Oreo waffle, topped with mochi and pocky sticks. Yummy! Not too sweet, just right.
Great for groups and meet ups. They have games and magazines to check out.
Service was great! The staff put extra work to making their craft.

March 25th may be International Waffle Day (Who decides this?) but I could eat bubble waffles every day!

There's a limited selection of waffles on the menu but they all sounded delicious. I spied ube on the listing for purple crow and I was sold! Sold for $8 if you want to be nitpicky about it.

The purple crow was a lovely sight to behold. The ube waffle was the star of the show. The texture was just right, lightly crisp with a soft tender center, served nice and warm. It's cool to break off one of the waffles to reveal the bright purple ube center inside. In this case, it's perfectly OK to be "eating crow" if it's a purple crow! The dessert comes with a piece of flan (A cube of caramel custard deliciousness), 2 Pocky sticks, and 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with some ube sauce. While I enjoyed the combo of ice cream with the waffle the ice cream itself was just OK. They use Thrifty ice cream if you were wondering.

I didn't realize that they sold just the waffles by themselves since it isn't listed on the menu. I only know now from reading other reviews. I might have gone for just the waffle since I wanted something that wasn't as heavy when I was here.

Service was so nice. The guys working here were very friendly and all our waffles were crafted to perfection.

I loved my Purple Cow! OMG, the waffle with ube or taro filling! I was in cloud nine. I had a full meal and still ate this entire sweet treat because it was terrific. The Pocky sticks were too cute. The flan had just the perfect amount of sweet, with a lovely caramel flavor. The coconut was lightly toasted. The ice cream was okay, but completed the ensemble. I also dug the taro syrup drizzle.

I am musing about making this the entree of my next meal. Service here is friendly, too! Be ready to drop $8 for each of their four signature offerings!

You can find Genbu Waffles located next to Korea Mart in the spot previously held by Mr. Boba. Two very cool and welcoming dudes run the place. The service is outstanding. The care put into each dessert is impeccable and ordering off the menu makes me feel like I'm suggesting new teams for a Legends of the Hidden Temple reboot.

Prices might be high for some, but I find the waffles to be large enough to share (though you probably will regret sharing - get your own). My favorite waffle thus far has been the Purple Crow: ube waffle, vanilla ice cream, handmade flan, topped with toasted coconut, ube condensed milk drizzle and two pocky sticks! As a non-flan fan, Genbu's homemade flan won me over and the ube waffle is freakin' amazing!

The menu is small right now, with just 4 signature waffle combinations to choose from, but I imagine it'll increase over time. Here are a few wild menu suggestions for the future:

Golden Monkey: chocolate waffle, chocolate ice cream, sliced bananas, chocolate drizzle, topped with candied peanuts.

Rainbow Unicorn: ube waffle, ube ice cream (or brightly colored ice cream flavor like cotton candy or bubblegum, even green tea would work), add a toasted marshmallow or macaroon, topped with edible glitter, fruity pebbles, or rainbow sprinkles! Add marzipan unicorn horn and ear to please the instagrammers.'Nuff said.

Pink Rabbit: dragonfruit waffle, vanilla ice cream, toasted coconut, kiwi and mango slices, couple blueberries, topped with pepitas and condensed milk drizzle. (This could easily be prickly pear waffle and prickly pear syrup instead).

Green-Eyed (Chris) Monster: matcha waffle, green tea ice cream, strawberries and blueberries, mochi, matcha drizzle, and a light dusting of matcha powder. Perhaps, a scoop of red bean, too! And two matcha pocky sticks. ::all the droolz::

Hey, a gal can dream! Anyway, no need to take my wacky and weird ideas into consideration, Genbu Waffles is awesome as is!

We decided to stop at Genbu for our little date night on Saturday. Our waffle was so good that we then stopped by again on Sunday night with the fam.

Both nights it was really busy. The inside is pretty small and there are only about 7 tables. There are also a few tables outside though. The employees were very friendly on the both days we stopped in.

I was able to try the purple crow, green serpent, and my friend had the white tiger waffle. We also ordered an hk milk tea with boba and the strawberry lychee bubbler drink.

By far my favorite waffle has got to be the purple crow! All the flavors put together make it such an awesome waffle! The milk tea was definitely my least favorite item. Something was way to strong and it was just a big no. It didn't taste good and I really wanted to like it since I am such a milk tea fanatic! The strawberry lychee bubble drink is great though and it definitely quenched the thirst.
