Please do not get an animal from this place. I got a cat on April 5, 2022 and throughout this whole time that I've had this cat he has become sick with a horrible respiratory infection. He has asthma which I've gone through his paperwork multiple times, and it says nothing about that. I cannot afford the medicine that it cost to take care of him and every time I try to call this place and ask if I can have help or possibly return him I am denied and no one will answer their fucking phones so please do not adopt an animal from there especially if they turn out to be sick in the future cause you will spend thousands of dollars on them and feel like you're still not giving them a good enough life

These folks want to present as a no-kill shelter. Â Make no mistake: these people *will* kill an animal.
If you adopt a cat from them, don't put any stock in their "evaluation". Â They put colored pieces of paper with cute "categories" on the animals' cages, but their simplistic evaluations are all but meaningless. Â Almost all cats, regardless of the wide variation that cat personalities have, fall into just one or two of their broadly-defined and practically useless categories.
And don't expect to find out from these folks if the animal you want to take home is compatible with your existing pets. Â These people don't and WON'T do any checking to see if their animals get along with other animals.
I adopted from "Rescue" Village. Â They stated the cat was compatible with other cats - but indeed, he was anything but. Â I gave the poor little guy ample chances but eventually had to return him. Â He left there sick - I returned him healthy and even found out what his original name was. Â
Two weeks later, they euthanized him. Â
He never had a chance once he fell into the hands of these people.

I appreciate the good work that Rescue Village is doing. However, the last several times that I've left messages regarding donations, no one has bothered to call me back. I want to donate things to your organization and cannot get a call back. Absurd!

Anyone who has been to animal shelters before will be thoroughly impressed with the Rescue Village facility and operation!
First off the facility is conducive to the adoption experience. The friendly staff at the centralized information desk greets you upon entry and briefs you on the various animal areas and other important information about your visit.
The floorplan was obviously well thought out prior to the building's construction. Separate holding areas for the cats and dogs and the familiarization rooms join in the middle at the circular information desk and plenty of windows allow staffers to keep an eye on each area/room. The holding areas are very clean, in great physical condition, and well-illuminated. The pooches seem comfortable in their roomy pens which have off-the-floor cots, toys to play with, and climate-controlled ventilation from above. Cats, too, have plenty of room to play and "explore" in their separate pens as well and they play chirping bird and nature sounds to relax the cats.
One thing that will absolutely blow you away is the amount of serious community support Rescue Village receives. At every turn, every room, every pen is a plaque commemorating the person or the memory of whom funds were donated. I've never seen so many contributors - and how wonderful especially for such a well-run and worthy cause.
All in all, the shelter pups and kitties that find themselves here have it really good especially since many of them were rescued from jackass kill shelters across Ohio. But Rescue Village's success truly comes from the good people who volunteer their time and veterinarian and other services, the foster families, and the great residents of Geauga County who have donated, bequeathed, and given in memorium for their cause.
Thank you, Rescue Village, for what you do. You deserve far more than just 5 stars.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Elizabeth H.Chagrin Falls, OH32118Jun 25, 2018Updated review
We went to this shelter to get a cat named miss Potts but she ended up being adopted. We got our lovely cat lilac there who is a beautiful Siamese kitty. They supplied us with everything she needed until we could order supplies. They gave us a small litter pan, litter, food, bowls, a collar, her blankets, a toy and a carrying case that turned into a house. The lady was very friendly and helped us chose lilacI recommend this shelter completely!

We just got our new baby Oreo from
Rescue village a month ago! The staff was excellent with us! They had us bring our other dog up to meet Oreo and to make sure they were a good match. They took time to answer questions for us and gave the dogs lots of time to play! I would

Rescue village is one of a kind. They do so many adoptions of dogs and cats that if you are looking for an animal this is definitely the place to go. All their animals are thoroughly checked out by veterinarians and any surgeries or rehab needs to be done is finished before they put the animals up for adoption.you can tell that the people work here do so because they truly love and cherish the animals. My children like to come just to visit with some of the dogs and cats. Once you're here you will never buy a cat from a breeder or store ever again this is the place to go!

Visited this shelter today and brought them lots of nice donations. The place was very clean and well kept. All the animals looked very well cared for and generally happy. In the future we will consider adopting from them. Very nice place
