Great experience at Game Stop on Mission today. Went in looking to grab a few things for colleagues and add some games to my collection. Extremely neat and clean store! Friendly sales associate team and very knowledgeable about release dates, games, action figures, sci-fi and pretty much all things gamer. Will definitely be back and encourage all gamers to check out this location. You cant miss the star wars memorabilia in the window

This Gamestop store here is big and have lot of selections from video gaming, toys, t shirt, action figures etc..
The store is very clean and neat in ordered. No time wasting here when shopping here. Finally, the staff pretty nice helping customers with answering questions.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 7, 2019
For being right in the heart of such a tourist centre, this GameStop is surprisingly tolerable. I've stopped by both after work on a weekday, and occasionally on weekends, and the customer flow isn't too bad.
When I've interacted with the employees, they were genuinely nice and legitimately wanted to help, which honestly is surprising these days in retail. The only downside is that GameStop's company policies don't appear to really empower the employees to keep the customers' needs first.
Case in point: I ordered a switch online and it arrived in the mail missing a controller and the switch itself. When I brought the box to the store the next day, the employees were super sympathetic but ultimately could only tell me that GameStop was opening a claim investigation with UPS. So instead of being able to walk away with a replacement, I had to wait 2 weeks and make frequent calls between GameStop and UPS to get my replacement.
So my recommendation: if you're in SF, buy from this store directly and you'll be taken care of. But beware of GameStop's policies as a whole.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Youssef N.San Leandro, CA01Sep 22, 2019
I went to the store to return a game that I got it from them
And they told me we can't help you because it was a brand new game and this is our policy (there is no sign there saying that and they didn't mention it when I bought it)
The only option I had is to call the customer service and they didn't help either.
So they just stole my moneyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Julian N.Walnut Creek, CA805131Sep 17, 2018
Not gonna lie, at first I was going to give this GS location 1 Star with a 'I'd give 0 Stars if I could' type of sentiment. Why? Well, bout 2 months back I started to pop by here to look for gifts to grab for the upcoming birthday season (so many September babies), and this store was ALWAYS late to open...sometimes 10-20 mins late.
Yeah, that changed once Jeremiah took over the store as the manager. Night and day difference with ease. Check it out ya'll, story time:
About a week or so back, I popped in just to ask about a particular item's availability, to which Jeremiah informed me that the product was in stock but was being held for another customer. The guy genuinely seemed disappointed that there wasn't another one in stock that he could sell me at the moment...which rare quality to find in retail. Not thinking twice, I thanked him, and went on my merry.
Fast forward to present day...I came in to browse a bit, and Jeremiah came up to me to say that he remembered my inquiry from a ways back and happened to have ONE of the item available...mother******g phenomenal. The guy legit kept in the back of his head that I made an obscure inquiry, and made a point to let me know, the second he saw me again, that it was available.
THAT ya'll is awesome customer service. The other associates here are wicked amazing too; I can't remember one of the fellas that helps me, but he's often posted at the ThinkGeek down below, has long hair, and slight European accent. Always friendly, and chats a good amount...great guy. There's also Danny, who is the Asst. Store Lead, who makes a point to greet you, and make sure you're happy before you pop off.
I really hope the GS corporate folks start taking better care of the employees at this store; it's high traffic, high volume, and wickedly easy to get to from the Powell St. Bart station, which means the crew here has to deal with a lot of guff from immature customers, transients, furiously ferocious fickly Funko flippers (alliteration...I've got them), and other incredible stressors. Yet, the store is ALWAYS neat & organized, the crew (now) is super on point, and you leave feeling good.
10/10 would nerd out with my controller out at this Stop (see what I did there?)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Max F.San Francisco, CA08Jan 13, 2019
Had an amazing experience here over the holidays.
I bought a used nintendo switch game just before Christmas. Used, but it still cost $60. I played it for about 10-15 mins over the holidays - didn't like it so figured I would return it and get my money back.
Fast forward ~2 weeks - I was on vacation and didn't have an opportunity to return to the store before this - I come back in.
1) The cashier asks for my phone number to look up the purchase. I give her my number, but nothing comes up. Of course not! - the cashier who originally rang me up didn't ask for my phone number. I ask if they can look up the purchase by my credit card, but sadly they can't do it. Only a receipt will work, which I didn't keep.
2) She can't look up the purchase so all she can do is offer to buy the game back from me. The buy-back price is $20, which hurts my heart. She scans the actual game I brought back (not the box) and lo-and-behold, it's the wrong game. They sold me an expansion to the game (instead of the actual game) in the incorrect box. She informs me that the buy back price for the expansion is $12. At this point I'm done with the experience and just want to leave before they manage to screw up anymore, so I take the $12.
tl;dr sold me the wrong game, wouldn't take my return, lost ~$50. Lesson learned - don't shop at GameStop.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 31, 2018Updated review
Beware shopping for used games here. Even if you are elite pro games will not ring up the correct price Street Fighter X Tekken was 15.99 before tax when it should have been 11.99 before tax. I walked out cancelling my sales transaction due do this issue and not having games in stock even though they are on the shelf as purchasable.
Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 9, 2016Previous reviewWhy am I giving this store 5 stars? Because they were not as pushy in their sales tactics as some of the others I went into. They have a huge selection of XBOX 360 Games compared to other stores I've visited and actually had a friendly tone of voice when speaking to me. The only downside is that the XBOX 360 games are downstairs, and there is no elevator to get down there from what I noticed (I sometimes walk with a cane depending on how my body feels from day to day and some stairs can be a challenge)

So this particular Gamestop likes to play a little game with their inventory.
You will always find everything new released listed as "In-Stock" online. When you arrive you will indeed find the particular items displayed behind the registers, but when you ask the associates for the item, they'll tell you it isn't in stock, and then berate over and over that it's for a pre-order, sort of dangling the idea "next time preorder!"
Here's the thing, come back about a week later and suddenly it's just there and available, you buy it, no fuss no muss. After having this happen about 4 times well I don't want to make any assumptions. I haven't tried calling because I live really close plus I'm told they don't pickup...so it sure seems like a sleazy tactic to get more foot traffic and push the narrative to "preorder". I go to the Mission street location, and anything listed "In-stock" online is indeed in-stock, and everything out of stock is indeed out of stock....like stuff that's been reserved for preorders.
There's a whole bunch of reasons why not to preorder and how it's a shady practice. You can Google this online, but if you are and you're going to do it through Gamestop don't do it at this one, don't encourage dishonesty, and don't bother checking their online inventory.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Delvin D.Oakland, CA1446Aug 20, 2018
