Was visiting DC and wanted Hookah. The Lounge was chill at first (around 10 pm) but around midnight became way too crowded to the point where the server would no longer come around. They didn't even give us tongs to shift our coals and smoke ash.

This place was also super grungy and ghetto located in a poorly ventilated run-down basement. There were burn holes in the tablecloths on the coffee table where we were sitting, and the single occupancy bathroom wasn't the cleanest. The light in the bathroom was completely broken, ran out of toilet paper, and to use the bathroom people were using their cellphone flashlights. Terrible experience! I had to pee in the dark while worrying about not dropping my cellphone in the nasty toilet and how I can wipe my butt with a single sheet of 1 ply toilet paper that was left with 1 hand while holding my phone with the other. With how grungy and how dingy the place was, I would not be surprised if there were questionable stains on the couch we were sitting on. I don't even want to know.

Worst of all, when we ordered a second hookah, the waitress just brought a top and more coals but didn't bring us a fresh base. As a result, the second hookah only lasted 15 minutes before it became un-smokable because the water in the base was completely dirty.

2 bottles of water, 1 rum and coke, and 2 hookahs cost over $50! Most expensive hookah I've ever gotten for such a ghetto, nasty experience. I feel like prices like this you can go to an upscale lounge, certainly in Philly, where I'm from. Is this normal for DC???

The only good thing was they played good music (lots of Rihanna and Beyonce).

Warning, this place is not for the bougie, if you want upscale and fancy, go to the place a couple of doors as it might better suit your needs. This is a no frills, basement bar with nice staff and good hookah.

Place is nothing to look at, a few tables surrounded by couches, two small bathrooms and a small bar. Friday night crowd was small and chill, the staff were pulled up to a table themselves taking some puffs but they were still attentive to needs and friendly. They have a large monitor playing music videos and another TV turned to ESPN for your entertainment pleasure.

Prices are in line with most other hookah places in the city and they let you mix and match the flavors for no additional cost.

Very low-key vibe and just a nice place to kick back, socialize with friends and puff, puff pass.

Stopped by Freedom Hookah Lounge after seeing that it had nothing but great reviews on Yelp. However, those reviews must be from family and friends or delusional people because I will have nightmares about this place.

At first it felt like I had walked into a dingy basement, dim lighting, music videos on the TV from a YouTube playlist. Okay, no biggie.

We ordered hookah, didn't taste bad, but they use the regular hoses, which clearly were not cleaned so I kept getting bits of ash in my mouth. Also, not a fan of the "snake head" tips they use, it makes it so difficult to pull smoke. Anyway, the place has a small bar. My bf ordered a vodka Sprite, it came in an odd acrylic glass, with maybe one piece of crushed ice, and two coffee stirrers for a straw.

The smoke detector above us was taped up. There was zero ventilation which made me feel extremely nauseous, I felt so dizzy and threw up shortly after leaving.

The worst part, I turned around and saw a huge roach crawling on the wall, not an insect, not a stink bug, an actual roach.

We immediately paid our tab and left. Not sure how this place is in business or if it even meets health codes. I would avoid, avoid at all costs.

Came here on New Year's Day with a group of friends. I must say it reminded me of being in the basement. The host was very attentive and the hookah was on point. My friends wanted music so they played their own music and we all brought food from the outside. Overall, great experience the price was cool the host gave me a deep discount for coming back. This my low key chill spot

I went during normal hours. I get the feeling that a HH review would be different. The prices outside of happy hour are normal so we could've gone anywhere. What's cool is that you can play your own music on the tv at your table using Youtube. We were pretty much the only people in there on a Thursday night which was perfectly fine with me.

But yeah, aside from the TV part and the fact that we didn't have to wait for a table, it's pretty standard.

Very cool place to hang out. Awesome happy hour with drink specials and cheap hookah. This place shines with its customer service; you can pick your own songs, staff is very attentive, and if you're lucky, they'll bring you drinks on the house! I'm definitely a fan and will be back.

One of my favorite spots in DC. Hookah is great, and the drinks are great but what keeps me coming back here is the people. Service never disappoints, the people are so so wonderful and the ambience is A1 :)
