Freeborne Decking

I really wish Yelp had more reviews for contractors. We had decided to build a deck using Trex's material and found Freeborne on the Trex website as the top rated deck builder in the area. We found this reputation to be highly deserved.

Let me start by saying these guys build decks. They're not making a deck one week, building a basement the next week, painting the week after that. They simply make decks, and they make them extremely well and quickly.

Our contact at Freeborne was Lenny and he was always very prompt to respond. He came out to see what we wanted to do, gave us a detailed quote, breaking out a few options we were undecided on including at that time. He told us they would build us a we would love, then send us a bill for that amount, not a penny more. Their crew of 3 had our deck built in no time and we couldn't be happier.

We talked to five different people about the deck. Freeborne won in every respect:

Time- Others we talked to said the deck would take anywhere between 1 and 3 weeks after the footings were in. Freeborne said it would be 2 days. They actually finished in 1 day + 3 hours.

Price- It wasn't even close. Freeborne came in well under the other bids. Part of this is certainly due to the speed with which they build. I was talking to one of the guys on the crew and he said they are one of the largest Trex dealers in the country. I can't verify if this is actually the case, but they are almost certainly saving significant material cost due to this as well.

Honesty- Talking to Lenny always gave us a good impression. Beyond that, the way they conduct business eliminates the worry of them disappearing with your money. It really was a great experience working with Freeborne.

The contractor came back and filed the issue. New support added and brackets indtalled.

I cannot recommend Freeborne Decking enough! From the very beginning we had a wonderful experience discussing what we wanted. Len is extremely knowledgeable and easily came up with the perfect design! Communication throughout the process was clear and turnaround was quick. The guys were so nice and respectful and kept everything clean and organized the whole time they were at our house. We now have a beautiful, sturdy, and well made deck to come home to and enjoy!

After just moving into the area Randolph, we asked around for a deck builder...unanimously people referred Freeborne Decking.

BIG MISTAKE! Lenny came out and as smooth as sales person could be..actually better than car sales. We went ahead with his recommendations (not the lowest quote but referrals are important).

We immediately started having issues with the installation. They came out several times to repair the deck...until it collapsed.

So the company is not responding we got the town and attorney involved.

I would be careful...being the largest deck builder is not always the best.

My deck came out amazing!!! First, and foremost Lenny gave me the most honest and informative quote. He told me about the three levels of trex decking, which no other contractor did. And he took the time to quote me on all three levels so i could make a decision of what best suited my financial plan. All the other contractors I had to give me a quote never informed me of that and their prices were ALOT higher.
The crew showed up early each morning and worked ALL day. Other than taking a well deserved lunch break, they never stopped. When the job was done they left the work area spotless . This deck is not only beautiful but the foundation is solid and very well built. I will enjoy it for years to come. Also, payment was not asked for until the job was done!

Freeborne Decking just completed my new Trex deck with a dryspace underneath. It came out perfect. Exactly how I had pictured it. It took them a couple of weeks, but it is a big deck. They always left the work area very clean everyday before they left. Always came very early to start work. These guys work hard. Deck was finished on time. They even did some extra trim we wanted added to the deck, for an additional charge of course. Overall, we are extremely pleased with this company and will use them again if we ever need any additional deck space built. We paid them after the deck was completely finished. They never asked for money upfront which was reassuring. Their pricing was very reasonable compared to other companies, and i liked that they are local to Randolph where I live. Thank you Lenny.

Superior service and quality . We had a small project but still received top notch service and attention from Lenny. Not pushy sales crap like other companies we received quotes from. He took the time to hear out what I wanted and worked from there designing a beautiful deck and staircase. The foreman was great too making suggestions and answering any questions I had while they were constructing. They got done in two days.

Freeborne Decking just completed work on a complete tear down and rebuild of our deck. 5 stars in every aspect of the job. We contacted a number of companies/contractors. Most either did not return phone calls or failed to give an estimate. Lenny drew up the plans, filled out all the paperwork for the building permit and called for all the inspections. All of the crew members were great as well. Very nice and very accomodatiing. Oh last but not least great workmanship. I have had several large home improvement projects completed over the last year and I wish every contractor operated the same way as Freeborne. Highly, highly recommend.

Really hoping to change this review a little bit once my deck is actually done. Freeborne came very highly recommended by a few different people. Was told they put decks up quick and do nice work. So far, I have been without a deck out my back doors (2nd floor so nice drop) for a week and a half. Took one guy two days to take down my old deck. Then it took one guy two days to dig footings. I now have a driveway full of materials, a garage so full of material it's hard to walk into it (our most used point of entry into house) and again, only one guy showed up to fill footings. I'm sure he will not finish today and I have no idea when he will be back. Communication with Lenny is extremely difficult. Never answers phone, gives one word text replies, does not answer all questions or provide any kind of timeline at all. I was told I would not be without a deck for more than two weeks. There is absolutely no way that will be the case as the footings need 48 hours to cure and not even half done at this point. Two weeks without deck happens in two days. I'm beyond frustrated and wish I had chosen a different contractor no matter what the cost. At this rate we won't have a deck or be able to use our pool until after Memorial Day.

These guys did a fantastic job on our deck. They replaced our old 16'x27' cedar deck with Trex Transcend, and we couldn't be happier. Len was professional and friendly, and gave us a very competitive price vs. other companies. He did not try to push any unnecessary work or products we didn't want or need. The deck crew did a great job, completing the demo and re-decking in 5 working days. I cannot comment on their framing/structural skill, as they were able to save the structure underneath. Their attention to detail was excellent, and they asked us for our input on certain details like corner cuts, step sizes, etc. I would confidently recommend Freeborne to anyone looking to resurface their deck.
