My love and I have visited Foundation Tavern & Grille on Irving Park a couple of times during the happy hour. We have sampled some nice featured beers on tap which are discounted $2 per drink, and the crispy flatbreads are half-price during the happy hour. The buffalo chicken flatbread is pretty good, and so is the Italian beef version, though one time the giardiniera was mild (as the menu listing indicates) while the second time the giardiniera was a bit more zingy. A couple of our buds enjoyed the fish and chips (I sampled a couple of the fries, er chips, and they were AOK). We all agreed that the burgers looked good and will probably try one next time.

The comfy interior offers various seating options, and overall the service has been pleasant and prompt. Foundation also presents live music in its intimate stage area. We caught a few cuts by a jazzy ensemble this past Wednesday. Check out Foundation if you happen to be in the Six Corners area.

We popped in on a Friday evening for happy hour and were rather impressed with Foundation. From excellent service and an inviting interior, to great beer and tasty flatbread, there is so much to love here during their daily happy hour from 4-6. Flatbread is half-off, making it $6. We split the Italian beef option, and wow, was it delicious! Tap beer is discounted to $4 during happy hour, and they have a nice selection of local beers. Even at the regular price of $6, one cannot complain. Looks like they have a good Thursday burger deal that I am determined to check out in the near future. The #80 bus stops in both directions are very nearby for those of us who rely on public transportation.

This is a really great neighborhood tavern. I have been here twice: once for a private event and once for Sunday brunch. Both experiences were fantastic. First I must salute the staff: every person I have encountered here has been genuinely kind, efficient, and professional. Always wonderful service. The space itself is very cool, with a small front patio and a stage for live music. When I was there for the private event, a band played and it was a really great space for a small musical performance. The drink selection is much more extensive and of higher quality than I expected in this area of Portage Park, honestly, so I was pleasantly surprised. Finally, the food is great. Today I had the flatbread special for brunch, and it was really fantastic. Everything is a ridiculously awesome value. I definitely recommend this place and look forward to returning again soon.

Terrible bar service. looks like the drinks may be good but again, bar service was non-existent.

First time going to foundation tavern with my wife. My experience was really pleasant. We both were dressed in gym attire and seemed out of place in this establishment. But there was a mixed crowd so we didnt feel uncomfortable. We were Sat at the bar(wonder why). And we were served fairly quick and drinks were good. I ordered the house burger and my wife had the grilled salmon. Both were delicious. Both had very good flavors and my burger was cooked a perfect medium well. My only gripe about this place would be that the bartenders have tunnel vision and don't really look up when you are trying to catch there attention for another drink. But all and all the atmosphere is a good place to take a date and or hang out with friends.

      Thanks

Overall a nice experience. A bonus would have been a Bears win yet you know how that can go. Delicious avocado toast and Brussels sprouts. Yummy! Parking on side street as Irving can get full of cars fast. This place is a sports bar and entertainment venue. Cool friendly people work here. Very kind too. Nice interior.

A rainy Saturday...with nothing to do...except drink vodka martinis and laugh at my friends' jokes. Nicely laid out space, a bit more upscale than some of the nearby place but not off-puttingly so.

Great playlist, comfy barstools, well-made martini.

This is now one of our favorite places in the neighborhood. We came to Foundation on a hot day and decided to each order the Summer Salad - it was the best decision we made that day. The fruit was fresh, perfect amount of grilled chicken - it was an excellent meal for a 90 degree day. The server was super nice and didn't seem to mind to come outside as we were the only table on the patio. In fact, he talked to us about the different music events throughout the week. Can't wait to come back for some live music. Add this place to your list!

This is my go-to spot on Wednesday nights when I'm off.
Jazz night, sports, steak sliders, fries, and great selection of cold beer. Robbie is the man. Great cozy neighborhood spot just wish the kitchen was open later.

I heard in the local moms group that Foundation has a special on Tuesdays where kids eat free. I had been meaning to try it for a while but this was the extra incentive that I needed.

They have a salad that is essentially my favorite things: burrata, beets and arugula. It is THE BEST salad I've ever had. It was seriously so good. My only complaint is that i wish it was bigger.

My husband loved his salad. The kids loved the kids meals. Our server was incredibly nice and accommodating. There were other families in too which made me worry less about being there with kids.

I need to get another salad!
