The Residence Inn by Marriott has partnered with Fitness 19 located at Blankenbaker Parkway and at my first visit I was sold. It's not huge--one enormous all purpose room with the cardio equipment allocated against the window and the machines and weights to the rear. Generally the look is of dedicated efficiency and spotless machines. Needless to say I arrived at the wrong time--right as the coronavirus reared it's ugly head and tore its way through the country, forcing all business esa to close indefinitely. However, for the time I was there as a guest, and for my needs -- I am a hardcore trainer -- I would, upon my return to Louisville and once this pandemic is over, return as a regular.

Ok facility but they made me wear a mask even when working out and close too early for me on the weekends. Decided not to join.

Super clean and inviting space. The staff is alwasy very friendly and accomodating. Plenty of everything in this gym: free weights, bench presses, dumbbells, machines. They even have a nice big open space you can do practically anything in. This is probably my favorite part of the gym. I can do walking lunges, ropes, you name it.

The owners are very friendly - support local people!

Very small gym, which limits the equipment significantly. Overpriced compared to competitors. To top it off, you can only cancel on certain days of the week, during certain hours.

      Great gym for $20
Even at peak times in January and February you can still get on whatever you want. I switched from planet fitness where I was paying the same price and it was a wise choice. I now have a actual squat and deadlift rack and a bench press.

Love Fitness 19. The only reason not 5 stars is lack of sauna and showers.
As far as working out they have an excellent selection of machines, free weights and free weight machines. Another important item for me is cleanliness and machine maintenance.
I have never (since early 2014) come across a machine there in need of lubrication or alignment - very important for enjoyable workout. They keep all areas, including the bathrooms, spotless. There is a separate area for group type workouts for those into yoga, pilates or whatever. Pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I love Fitness 19. My husband and I have been members for several year's. They are always updating their equipment and the trainer's are terrific.
The owners are very sweet and we just feel so comfortable here.
I think the monthly fees and all it includes is a great bargain. Anyone considering joining a gym should certainly consider Fitness 19.

After two phone calls and two letters they say they don't have any record of my husband trying to cancel his membership. We have lived in two different states since he attended there. Beware!!!!!

If you just need a spot to use a treadmill, elliptical or weights, Fitness 19 will take care of your needs. They also offer some classes in the evenings or weekends, although they can be an up-charge.

The facility has a small (very small) room with toys for childcare, which is also an up-charge. It's also not super convenient, but they do have a dressing room to change into work-out clothes.

My experience with them lasted 4-5 months. My dad gifted me a certificate for 90 days free, 3 training sessions and a fixed monthly rate. At first I enjoyed visiting after work, but the classes (at that time) were an additional fee and sporadic so I became bored only using the machines. I also didn't enjoy my training sessions, which had much to do with the partner, so I opted not to pay for more sessions either.

Ending my membership was unpleasant. The first person began the process but then tagged in a second person. He questioned me on why I was leaving and I was quite honest - "it's me, not really you." Had the conversation ended there, it would've been fine but he continued to question me on what I planned to do now that I wasn't going to come to Fitness 19, letting me know that walking in my neighborhood wasn't going to get me results, etc. After him pushing too much, I finally told him what I did and how fat I got was really none of his business. I don't understand why people think high-pressure tactics and guilt are the way to keep members. I will never reconsider partnering with this gym again - or recommending it - based on my training sessions and how it ended. And since Louisville has been peppered with gyms offering low monthly memberships, I will have several options to try when I do realize that walking in my neighborhood is doing nothing for me.

Local owned, super clean and friendly gym. The owners are always around and on top of things. This a basic gym. No pools saunas or showers. Just basic weights, cardio, and a few classes. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The other members seem to be a good mix of people, skewing to a slightly older crowd. Great place!
