File Savers Data Recovery

I had sent in a hard drive and needed certain files that were corrupted to be recovered and sent back. Mostly video files that would not play back. They give you an estimate and say that if they cant recover the data, you do not pay. I was told that my data was recovered and it was all there. When I got my new drive back, I plugged it in and found that the files that were corrupted were not recovered and everything was the same as when I sent it off. That is $2000 out of my pocket and about a month and a half of my time that they wasted. Every time I emailed them or called, it would take days for a reply. When it was time to pay, they would contact you multiple times a day for payment. When I asked for a recovery report, they assured all my data was there and that there was nothing to worry about. I would NOT trust this business with your precious data.

Quoted $500 to send in my drive. Once they received it they quoted me $2700. I requested it back; it came in pieces in a bag - and now is not even recognized by the PC; the disk now squeaks when spinning. Terrible - provided more damage.

Very expensive and took several months to recover the data, after being initially told it should take about 2 weeks. They were able to recover about 1/4 of the data in the end. I understand that the time can be different depending on the case, and that there can be variation, but I had to repeatedly contact them to get updates even after asking them to keep me updated. My case was handled by Susan Ayers, and every interaction was a pain. Responses would be slow, taking days sometimes to reply to simple questions, giving unhelpful responses and generally just seeming a little bit rude. Whenever I would call and get in contact with an individual named Alex Miller, I could actually get helpful responses in a timely manner. Might as well have just hung up if Susan answered the phone.

Buyer beware.

You may think you are just getting a simple service, but you also get the continued harassment of their employees for months on end.

Why did this harassment start? Did I not pay?

No. I didn't leave a 5 star review. That is what they thing I did so wrong that I get calls and texts constantly to leave a better review.

I can't leave a positive review for someone to charge me the highest of prices and then not only not retrieve all my data but to bald face lie about what they did recover.

Mostly, be wary of any 5 star reviews just in case they are only there to stop the harassment.

This company is an absolute sham! Do NOT have anything recovered here. I sent my card in to get a quote on a recovery and they wanted over $1,000 to recover some photos. I chose not to have service done and simply asked that they return the card. They explained to me that the whole recovery would be so complex and time consuming that I'd never find anywhere cheaper. After asking for my items back, they refused to send it for weeks. After asking and demanding my items back for weeks on end, they reluctantly gave me MY items back. I took it to a local IT guy and he was able to recover the photos in 20 minutes with some simple software. Long story short, this company is scam, and they WILL try to pull one over on you.

These guys will absolutely rip you off. They wanted to charge me over $2000 to recover my data because my hard drive had a "broken head". I thought that price was ridiculous, because it was, so I searched around and found $300 Data Recovery (https://www.300dollardatarecovery.com) which is a shop in California that does data recovery for a $300 flat fee. I went with them and they got 100% of my data recovered. Also, they figured out why my drive failed and it wasn't a broken head, it was firmware corruption, which is a much cheaper fix. So File Savers lied to me. They just wanted to do a head replacement because it costs more and it seems they don't care if they are ripping off the public. So trust me when I say, ditch these guys, save yourself literally over a thousand dollars and go with $300 Data Recovery instead. They are honest, upfront, transparent, competent, and for me, got the job done for $400. There was a $100 fee since my drive was over 2TB and ya know what? I could care less because it wasn't $2000+ and my money went to a good company that cares about people and gives an invaluable service at a fair cost. Jayme has been really helpful since the first call with me. They have successfully restore my data (Raid-5 2 bad HDDs out of 4). I didn't have any hope at first but then I talked to Jayme. He promised that his team will help me to restore the data and they did it!

I worried about the cost, (which I know was reasonable, because I shopped around, but money is tight for me at the moment,) but decided it was worth every penny, given that I can't ever buy what I thought I had lost.
