Has this restaurant closed permanently? That would be heartbreaking.

      A:

I hope not! They had a sign up saying they were closed for remodeling in late May. I haven't been back since, though work about 10 minutes from there. We LOVED this place! I hope they don't close down. It's hard to find a good vegan/veggie meal… more

      Staff is super nice.
The food was great. The outside seating was very cozy with a nice view. Located in a great area. I really liked the setup of the plates when the food was brought out.
The smoothies looked a bit overpriced.

I visited here for dinner one night last month. While they have several vegan options, I opted for the salmon burger entree along with a side of tomato basil soup. Both items came out in about 15 minutes. The salmon burger was a generous serving and tasted really good. It had a nice salmon flavor and was in good tasting bread and along with the tomato soup made for a nice meal. Table service was good.

If I return, I would like to sample one of those vegan options. I would be happy to return.

I've been here once a few years ago and thought the food was ok. I decided to try it again recently to see if there have been any changes to the restaurant. Other than updated decor the food is the same. This would not be my first choice for vegan food in Houston if I was craving it.

They have a lot of options including texmex, falafels, burgers, and salads. I've had both the portobello mushroom burger and eden burger. The burgers come with a side of a choice of fries, soup, or salad. Overall, I find the food to be plain tasting and lacking in spice. I liked the eden burger more, and it seems to be a popular dish among yelpers that frequent this restaurant. The BBQ sauce in the Eden burger is a tasty touch. However, I added sriracha/tabasco sauce to my burger for added spice.

Others have commented on the lack of A/C and I agree that their restaurant is warmer than most Houston restaurants that tend to blast their AC. It was warm, but not unbearable.

This was my first time trying this place. The environment and staff is friendly. It's relaxing which is good.

Food: We ordered two plates and a kids plate.
I ordered the fajita Plate and let me tell you. This was a great choice! It was filling and flavorful.
My husband had the pita sandwich with falafel. He enjoyed the only con is that it was too salty for him.
In regards to the kids plate, we ordered pasta for my one year old and before i gave my baby pasta we tasted the pasta. We were not satisfied. It was not flavorful. The pasta was watery and didn't have flavor.

Below are the reason I rated this place a 3:
      1. Kids plate need flavor
      2. The restaurant was HOT. Though they have fans running, it was hot.

I went to Field of Greens for Sunday lunch. My first impressions of the place was it was very hot! They had fans on but still very warm inside, it almost felt like their A/C did not work. We grabbed menus and took a look. The menu was very vegan/vegetarian menu. It's a mix of Mexican, American, Mediterranean, and other cuisines.

I decided to order the Grilled Falafel Pita which was a falafel inside pita bread. It was under the sandwich/burger portion which is a bit misleading as I assumed it was a falafel sandwich or falafel burger, however it was decent. It comes with a side of fries or soup. I got the regular fries. The bill came out to be $11.85 which is pretty average for the amount and flavor of food I got.

Overall this place is okay, I probably will not be back in a while.

(4/5): EDEN BURGER: The bbq sauce of this burger made it savory. It was a little messy to eat. I had a mini salad in box leftover after I finished my burger because the lettuce kept falling out. The buns are Ezekiel bread which is very dense. I subbed my fries for SWEET POTATO FRIES. The fries were crunchier which I'm a fan of.

It has an Asian fusion flair. It was very nice of the cashier to come bring my food over to Path of Tea. They do have to go containers for condiments because they want to keep the bottles in the restaurant. My one concern was that people left Fields of Green dishes on the tables at Path of Tea. I'm not sure if they are suppose to bring it back over to the restaurant or does someone come to pick it up. I had my meal in to go boxes just in case I had leftovers and for easy cleanup. When I'm at Path of Tea, I'll make sure to get a snack and try other options on the menu

Good average food that happens to be vegan, but nothing that I feel like (if I had the ingredients) I couldn't make myself. I enjoyed my grilled falafel pita....even while it was pretty messy with the liquid-y hummus that kept spilling out. My friend also liked her meal but we both agreed that it wasn't anything too special. Unfortunately for this restaurant, there are just an increasing number of better quality vegan restaurants in Houston.

I was in Houston, Texas over this weekend visiting a good friend for his wedding ceremony. While I was there, I searched for vegan restaurants close to where I was staying and found none. None! When I searched further away I found this place.

Field of Greens, off of Alabama St near Kirby Dr, is a small vegan diner just west of the heart of Houston. It was the only vegan place that interested me before I visited and became the only restaurant I ate at during my stay in Houston.

The first day I stopped here, I ordered the California Club. Grilled soy chicken and smoked tempeh strips gave the classic feel of a club sandwich. Vegan mayo and avocado really brought the whole thing together without leaving it feeling greasy. All this on toasted Ezekiel bread was delicious. The fries were topped with a seasoning salt different from what I usually taste in California but was strong and tasty.

The next day, I ordered the Veggie Fried Noodles, which aren't on the menu yet but are posted on a tv on the wall. This turned out to be the best decision as these were easily the best noodles I've had. The sauce used on the noodles was thin and light, but not runny or weak. It had an incredible flavor that I will miss for a long time to come. Various vegetables were mixed in as well: broccoli, zucchini, squash (I believe), and carrots. Along with this set of noodles, I ordered the Sweet Bean Paste Buns (also not yet on the menu) because, who doesn't love red bean paste? The buns were soft and full of flavor with just the right amount of red bean filling.

The final day in Houston brings me back again with my roommate. I ordered the noodles again and my roommate did as well. He ordered the Vegetable Dumplings and I tried the Mushroom and Mixed Veggie Steam Buns. Needless to say we both thoroughly enjoyed the noodles. The veggie dumplings were lightly grilled and full of flavor. Regrettably, I don't have pictures of the steam buns but, like the red bean buns, they were soft and stuffed with the right amount of filling; also something I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

I can only hope them continued success and wish they would open up a location in California.

If I didn't love River Oaks already, I certainly would after eating here. A solid 10.

My H-Town vegan adventure with my "Emicolm" (Emily + Malcolm) included club sandwiches, and this bomb eggplant parmesan. I also attempted to eat a side of falafel and a side salad (not pictured).

What I love about this shop is that it seems to always have a relaxed and calming ambiance. This is the perfect stop if you're already downtown going to the Galleria mall, or before you hit the bars in Montrose (you know me). It's lit.

I eat here every time I visit Houston. Love it.

      So satisfying !

This is the type vegan place I've been looking for!!everything I had was so fresh and super good! It was definitely a great portion and priced really well for the amount and freshness of the food.
Most vegan places I find are overpriced, unsatisfying, and really small portioned. Not this place !
      It's even a great place for non-vegans!!
