Fenn's Country Market is a decent grocery market in Artesia, NM, on Main St.
We needed a few snacks before mustering through the last hour of drive to Hobbs from Tucson, AZ.
We bought the following:
Funyuns = $1.99
Doritos = $2.19
Baked Hot Cheetos with lime = $2.19
20-oz. Dr. Pepper = $2.09
The parking lot needs a refresher of paint, but there's enough space for trailers, RVs, etc.
Friendly staff.
No public restrooms as of 8/1/22.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mar 7, 2019
Bought some fried chicken from the deli area. Came home and saw that two pieces were super dry. I called to complain to the manager. She said to bring the chicken and come in for replacement but I told her that we'd already been settled at home. She then said to forget it (about bringing the DRY fried chicken...it looked like it was there from
The day before and just sat in the heater bin) and to bring the receipt the following day to get the replacement. I come in. I see there's no fried chicken. Apparently they stop frying chicken at 6pm. Monica (the manager I spoke to last night) told the manager at the deli that she told me to bring in the chicken. You really think I'm going to save that chicken to bring it to prove that it was dry? I wasn't about to go through the dumpster just for that. Goodness gracious. What's $2.09? Guess it means more than keeping a customer.
I Did not get an apology at all. Usually one would get an Oh I'm So sorry about that. I want to fix the problem. Bad customer service.
I'll go to Kentucky fried chicken. At least I know the fried chicken is fresh.
You should teach you kitchen people to put the older product in the back or on top of the new food so the older food gets sold then the newer on the bottom. I should have known better. The other night I was the guy out the newly fried chicken on top of the older chicken that was in the heating bin. Big no noHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken P.Austin, TX130Sep 7, 2019
Tried the burger. Mine was overcooked and likely squished with a spatula to the point of zero juices. There errors made: 1) protein that is cooked when it is still cold and for too long is typical, and dries out quickly; 2) flipping protein more than once also dries it out; and 3) pressing a piece of protein pushes out all natural juices it contains = dried out and overcooked.
I'll try it again, but not before asking for it to be properly cooked.
If you learn anything from this review, PLEASE, learn that cooking cold and/or wet protein results in steaming, not browning and carmelizing. LEAN PROTEIN COOKS VERY FAST! Sorry for repeating my words. Too many meals are ruined by these errors. You're welcome!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - KP P.Austin, TX0531Aug 12, 2019
Discovered this market in a successful search of good beer and spirits. This is the best I've found to date. Their grocery, deli and sushi (fresh daily from Midland) also takes the lead against the locals.
Tried the burger at the deli and found it way over cooked. It had good potential if properly grilled...I picture the cook mashing the juices out of the meat like most do in error. I may try again and ask for it cooked rare, hoping for some blood. I think the meat lacks the right ratio of fat. Lean meat cooks really fast and dries out. Add some ground brisket and you have a winner.
That being said Artesia is lucky to have this store. It's a gem and the people are friendly and helpful.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Betty S.Artesia, NM3999Apr 12, 2020
I love Fenns Country Market. Always clean. Always helpful. Friendly staff. Love the deli. The meat department is orderly and clean. The butchers are always there if you need help or have a question.

Found a couple dead flies in their salad bar... told one of the workers and they just took out the leaf of lettuce that the flies were on. They are also WAY over expensive. The EXACT same products at Walmart are almost half the price. Your better off using Walmart's online ordering... save yourself some time and money!

I would like to give Fenn's Country Market a big shout out! Nothing like flipping off their customers and screaming the F word to us during this COVID-19 crisis!
Monday I purchase a box of bacon for $28 plus whatever tax. My thought, "hey what a good deal, I can make multiple meals out of this." You know I'm not working so cash is tight.
When I got home I took it out the box, separated it and put it back in the freezer. (They were frozen so I thought that's how I should keep them until I'm ready to use.) I took some out early yesterday morning to make my kids some breakfast. When it was thawed out I opened the bag, it kind of smelt off. I took one piece to fry it first to make sure it was okay. Well it had a smell of old bacon grease when I was cooking it, then I tasted and it had a sour taste. Today my sister tried to take it back, all of it minus that one slice. She had the box and the receipt. The manager said "well it's been out of store and handle, I dont want to give you nothing so I can do only half a refund" she told him but only one piece is missing he said "that's all I can do for you".
How is this okay? He was more than welcome to weigh it to prove most of it was there. This is not how you treat your customers. Especially in a time where it's hard to come across food because everyone is hoarding!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna A.Lakewood, NM063Feb 10, 2014Updated review
Yummmm! Stop in and get the best burger in Artesia( and in my opinion ALL of New Mexico). I always make sure to get my 1/2 pounder- hungry or not.

They are huge- the 1/2 pounder must weigh 10-12 ounces. What a PLEASANT surprise! The flavor of the meat is to die for and the bun is barely smaller than the burger. Oh , and by the way. - service is fast and friendly.
