Lots of beer options, good atmosphere, pool tables downstairs.
So why only two stars? I ordered a vodka/soda (I know, I know, I'm not really a big beer drinker). It was just soda water. Not like a light pour but straight up water. I was totally sober when I had my first sip so I was still discerning enough. I stirred it with my straw and tried it again. Then I had two different sober friends try it and everyone confirmed that it was just water. I don't think it's possible that the bartender misheard me because I asked if they had vodka before placing my order (it being a beer bar, and all). Anyway, I went back upstairs to tell the bartender (wasn't looking forward to that conversation but I also don't like throwing money away). It was too crowded at that point so I just gave up.
As much as I liked the vibe here, I don't think I can return to a bar that violates the most important tenet -- provide alcohol.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Keerthana C.Centennial, CO331921Aug 23, 2020

In the mood for a quick bite and a beer? This place has you covered. No frills or crazy concoctions. Just a solid spot for a burger and beer type of joint. Team was super chill and no qualms. For a city with plenty of breweries and tap houses it's definitely a demanding market with a plethora of options.

This was our third trip here and we had to leave a review bc our bartender has been amazing all three times. We live OOS and come to Denver every few months, and he remembers us - and our favorite beer - every time!
We took home some tasty beers that are super hard to find! Definitely coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 109374448Mar 8, 2020Updated review
I have had numerous encounters here and each time it has been a pretty terrible customer experience. I finally went back this weekend and for once the waiters and bartenders weren't complete jerks. They weren't exactly friendly but it was nice to not have someone being a total jerk to me. I was happy to see that they have wine on the menu now. Not sure if it was always on the menu and I never noticed but I wasn't feeling beer that night and the rest of my group wanted beer so I was happy to have another option.
So random but someone in my group ordered a shot of au jus and we all decided to try it and it was DELICIOUS! I want to go back to eat there just to try a sandwich to dunk in their homemade au jus!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 22, 2016Previous reviewI've come to this place a few times before finally reviewing it because I want to make sure I am confident on my ratings. I WANT to like this place, I keep giving it shots, but for now I'm going to be left disappointed and unimpressed.
This place boasts over 75 beers on tap, each categorized on their menu that's 3 pages long. It's almost overwhelming with how many options there are. In cases like that, you turn to the staff who should be trained and more than willing to help. Each time I'm there I get the cold shoulder, eyes rolling, and non-attentive staff. I tried to order at the bar and was shunned away multiple times. Questions about the beer are unwelcome and they are unwilling to help someone who is a novice in the beer industry. Even the bouncer at the entrance sets the tone with an unfriendly, 'don't-mess with me' attitude. I have tried to make small talk and I will get nothing but rude comments in return.
I've asked on multiple occasions for 'seasonal beers' to be told that they don't have any on tap. For being 'Denver's Best Tap House', I find it hard to believe they wouldn't seek out seasonal beers. This place has a great concept, and room to grow with their customer service. I hope they work on their customer service so I can proudly recommend this place to friends as Denver's Best Tap House. - Mar 1, 2017
HOW?
Seriously, how have I not reviewed this place?
Easily the best beer selection in Denver, and one of the best beer selections in AMERICA.
Having said all that, if you're not a beer geek/snob/enthusiast/brew/etc, you might not appreciate this place as much. It's the perfect place to really DORK THE EFF OUT about beer. If that sounds boring to you, if that sounds like a conversation that would have you scrolling on your phone instead of contributing...maybe try someplace else.
I had some delicious beer from Boneyard Beer in Bend. A brewery that is becoming hard to obtain in Oregon, let alone Colorado!
The bartender was very knowledgeable and eager to chat.
I was eavesdropping on a conversation at a nearby booth, if I weren't so shy, I would've loved to chime in. More beer for me next time?Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ryan J.Menasha, WI1292650May 30, 2019
It might be easy to be intimidated by the selection of beer here, but I had an amazing bartender who helped me navigate it all. As a beer enthusiast this place was awesome to find so many local brews but also some familiar ones. I didn't have any food but had 4 different beers and all were tasty! Next time I am in Denver I will be here!
I also felt like the prices were decent. Selection unmatched. Make sure to check the menus and not just the board! They o my list 20 up front but have many, MANY MORE!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2017
It's about time I review Falling Rock. After all, it is one of my favorite bars not only in Denver but among one of the best bars I've ever been to. There is a reason that these guys are ranked as one of the best tap houses in the country, and I planning on outlining the reasons why below.
Falling Rock's tagline is 'No crap on tap' and they do a great job with their selection. In fact, Falling Rock has become a traditional bar to visit when the Great American Beer Fest is held in Denver each fall. If brewers and beer geeks are making the trip here, then you know it's gotta be good. Of course, with 75 beers on tap, there is something for everyone.
On my first visit, I had the deliciously, famous Blind Pig by Russian River, a beer that is not easy to find if you're not in the state of California. I've also been told that Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig are regulars on tap, so you will be in luck anytime that you come here. On my second visit, I tried a few more beers including a several stouts and porters.
My third visit was for the annual release of Pliny the Younger - Russian River's more rarely brewed triple IPA. Timeline of events as follows:
Doors open at 11
I arrive around 11:30 and get a golden ticket (guaranteed a beer)
Tapping starts at 1
(I have several beers in between my arrival and tapping)
We are served (yes served by a server) our beers shortly after the tapping.
I can't even describe how relieved I was that it wasn't a fight to get to the bar to hand in your ticket for a beer. These guys definitely developed a system that works.
The red ticket holders (not guaranteed a beer) were then served before the keg kicked. They then tapped a keg of Supplication - what a nice surprise!
I've also had a few items off the food menu including the buffalo wings and the Philly cheesesteak (and they use an actual Amoroso roll), which were very good.
This definitely seems like the kinda place where the servers will get to know you if you come in enough - something that I plan on doing a lot of in the near future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 11, 2019
Gotta love Falling Rock rap house! Super chill tap house with amazing selection of draft beers. Outdoor space is great for people watching, with chilled misters keeping you cool. The outside patio is popular with families. Inside is a beer lovers paradise with bottle lined walls and a knowledgeable staff. Food menu is fun, and affordable. Beer lovers rejoice.
