Fajita Sub? Really?
Yes..really! Take a look at the pic. It is every bit as delicious as it looks. Every ingredient fresh with homemade sauces and the most perfectly baked bread you can have for a sub.
The menu options are overwhelming at first, so I ended up settling on their namesake sandwich. I chose the Carne Asada as my protein and went with the default fajita toppings for the rest. I made use of their homemade sauce station as well to complete the entree. After adding a Sugar Cane Mojito Lemonade, the grand total came to less than $10. This for one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life...and it could have fed two people!
If you see them, stop, ask questions, and then partake in a delicious adventure of latin flavors!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

Best under the radar food truck! Don't let the name fool you! They serve wonderful homemade arepas, so much better than Arepa Zone.
When I was walking past the food trucks in Chinatown, I saw an unfamiliar food truck the next block over and decided to check it out. I saw an overwhelmingly extensive menu of subs and arepas and was about to walk past it, when I saw a familiar face. The kind old owner was bringing Fajita Sub to DC!
I used to get arepas all the time from the Fajita Sub Factory (they had a trailer) when I used to live in Silver Spring. Soo sooo good! The owner is so passionate and an amazing cook! She makes the arepas and even the seitan and all of the sauces.
I was so glad that I saw her and got the Vegan Dream arepa with Venezulan cheese and plantains. It's only a $1 extra for unlimited toppings. I added the garlic crema sauce on top (the sauces are self-serve, you must try them!).
For $10, I had one of the best lunches in DC. Everything was packed with flavor from the cheese, plaintains, to the seitan and grilled veggies and the SAUCE, aww the sauce. Was stuffed afterwards, totally worth it!
Even though Fajita Sub isn't on the Food Truck Fiesta app, you can come find them on FB page: https://www.facebook.com/fajitasubfactory/Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Great lunch and friendly service from this small food truck that's inside an Airstream trailer parked in a gas station up the hill from Silver Spring metro station.
I opted for the fajita bowl which is served in a small styrofoam container. A base of rice and topped with beans and chicken. On the other half of the bowl, avocado salad, shredded cheese and queso. Oh, and two tortillas. Red chile and a hot green avocado chile and some shredded onions added afterwards from their "salsa bar." It was a very tasty and quite filling lunch.
As for the gal taking orders and payment, she was outwardly friendly and smiling. Very pleasant to deal with.
There is a bench behind the trailer but I think the idea here is that you take it to go.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Bruce!
I'm glad you had a pleasant experience at my food truck. Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review, I truly do appreciate it and I hope to see you again soon; there's a lot on the menu left to try :) - Sep 28, 2015
I might have had unreasonably high hopes for this little food truck...
You operate out of a vintage Airstream: Sold!
You are serving a new, at least to me, type of latin food called a corn "sub": Sold!
You're located at a gas station: As some of my favorite MD institutions: Sold!
You have 18 reviews with 4.5 stars: Sold!
The problem was... I was a little nonplussed about the food I ordered: I decided to get the Corn sub: Carne Machada which is described as "Shredded beef with aji dulce". I've never had aji dulce, but I assumed that it was a sweet sauce as "Dulce" is Spanish for sweet or candy.
They asked me if I wanted cheese on on the corn sub, and I asked for whatever cheese would normally come on it. They were like "whatever you'd like", and then I said, what type of cheese would you put on it? And they were like "queso fresco". So I was like... Ok, that's perfect.
Well, the whole thing turned out to be way way salty and a bit greasy too. The "sub" ( I keep putting quotes around that as I don't think anyone would describe it as a sub) is more of a large circular sandwich. The outer corn griddled pancake thing they use instead of bread is decent, albeit does not have much flavor (except for a good deal of saltiness). The beef was cooked well, but it just seemed to be lacking depth. And the aji dulce... I don't know where that was. Still trying to figure it out, but for now it's a Cold Case.
I'll most likely go back and try something else from the truck, maybe I just chose the wrong thing.
I did also get some of their "homemade yogurt" which was really good and has fresh pineapple on top. It hadn't completely set up, but the flavor was good, and I've been on a yogurt kick so I was happy to see it.
Also, I'm really curious and interested why half of the truck says that it's selling fresh Italian pastas. I would have asked, but I was in a bit of a hurry and there was a long line forming behind me.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Mike,
I'm sorry for not offering a response until now. It's been quite the challenge claiming by business on Yelp but I'd like to thank you for taking the time to write a review about us. I take every review seriously because it's a learning opportunity for my staff and me. What you ate was a Venezuelan Arepa which I translated to "corn sub" because not many people are familiar with what an Arepa was. Although I'm barely replying now, I can assure you I was aware of your review soon after you posted it and have indeed taken the necessary measures to make sure our flavor is just right!
As far as the other half of the truck, we were selling fresh pastas for some time. At this moment we are not however. Once again, thank you for taking the time to let me know how we did and where we could improve!
Regards,

Ahhh!! I can't believe this place moved location to only 5 minute walking from my home! I absolutely love that they have veggie options so I always order the arepas with the veggie meat which is homemade seitan. They give you mango juice sometimes for samples and plenty of sauces to top of your meal. They are made to order so expect a little waiting and love that goes into preparing your meal.
I've been back at least 3x times now the past two weeks--twice in the rain! A must-try.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lynda N.Silver Spring, MD454247592Aug 18, 2016
I ordered the Fajita Bowl with 1/2 Chorizo (chicken sausage) and Ceviche (seafood) and got to try some of my friend's steak. Can I just start off by telling you how great their service is!? Their service is both friendly and attentive even when they are crazy busy. Portions were great for the price and I really liked that about them. The food is made to order so you'll wait a bit longer. Just know you're waiting on freshly prepared meats.
Service was 5/5.
My food was 3.5/5. Why? What I didn't like was that the steak was a bit dry and the seasoning in the blended guac they have at the counter tasted weird. Chorizo and ceviche was alright. I just like pork sausage more. I'm gonna try regular chicken next time.
Pros:
Ability to pick 1/2 of 2 types of meats
Great portions for price
Freshly made
Friendly service
No card minimum
Cons:
A bit of a wait if they're busy (but honestly it's not that bad)
Didn't enjoy their optional sauces at the counter (I'll just stick with the guac that comes with my Fajita bowl)
Overall, I'll be adding this to my lunch rotation because I did enjoy their food. It smelled fabulous and made my coworkers jealous ~haha.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Lynda thank you so much for letting me know how we're doing; I view every review as a learning opportunity to perfect our food so I truly do appreciate it. Unfortunately the extreme heat we've been having lately affects the guacamole that sits on the counter; that's why we serve small portions on the counter and keep the rest refrigerated but unfortunately, our strategy isn't 100% full-proof; I assure you it tastes amazing under better conditions. Also, I will closely monitor the cooking of the steak so it is not overcooked again which is not the norm. Hopefully you'll give us another chance to turn that 3.5 food rating into a 5 soon!

Was in DC for business and got gas on the way home and spotted this food truck. In no way did I expect these little sandwiches to be this amazingly delicious! Was my first time having an arepa and I loved it. Trying to find a local place that makes these now!

Dios mios what a gem of a find. On a food truck. In a gas station. In downtown silver spring.
I was in a rush to grab lunch so I figured why not. I'm getting gas, bullet-looking truck or the Dominican one? I went with my gut--fajita sub factory here I come.
Their menu is Latin inspired and have a few Italian offerings. I went with my first choice, arepas Peru and holy smokes the flavors in that bad boy was aggressive. Chunks of tilapia ceviche, red onion, and huancaina sauce in a warm, toasty "corn bagel" and I just said my prayers early today because it was PERFECT. Not that it needed anything else, but the pickled onions, pico, and two salsas sealed the deal on every bite.
I may even make excuses to just get my gas here, just so I can visit again.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Angela!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed your meal! Hope to see you again soon! :) - Helen W.Washington, DC16910769Nov 29, 2017
OMG!!! So I'm going to start off by saying I experienced my first arepa this past summer and I have been obsessed ever since.
I was SO happy when I saw this food truck parked outside of Nordstrom Rack in Farragut Sq. I found out that it was actually their first day with their second truck! The second truck will be located throughout DC, which means I don't have to go to Silver Spring to get a good Arepa.
I got the chicken salad con queso de mano arepa. It was absolutely delicious and I felt like I was in heaven the entire time I ate it. The service was fantastic, which lined up with the quality of the food.
If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, check out Fajita Sub Factory and try a Arepa. There are so many options, sure to meet everyones taste buds!

I got the chicken fajita with avocado and lemonade,
This is better than arepa zone, I hate anything with onions; when I saw their menu I was so disappointed but the cook and the lady convinced me to pick them out TOTALLY worth it! My husband hates arepas because most places give you a dry arepa with barely any fillings; this was the complete Opposite. The green sauce and mayo made the perfect dinner && we were so full I did not have to cook!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
