I rated Escape Day spa two stars for my experience on Thursday, March 29. My folks live in Nashville and when I come to visit my mom and I always go to escape day spa to relax. I have always had excellent service until this time around.
My mom booked the appointment for me three months in advance -a 90 minute massage followed by a facial. We arrived early to take advantage of the facilities. My first service was with Diana for a massage. Upon meeting, she was very pleasant and started our relationship with "Are you ready for your 90 minute massage..." Of course yes. :) She asked about my problem areas and I told her (low back, shoulders). She recommended that we work on my legs, which I was ok with. She told me to lay face down and that she would be back shortly. Ten minutes later, she came back and started working on my legs. I like it when a practitioner assesses the state of someones muscle groups before digging in but she just started working on them. Fine, no problem. She asked me to flip over, which I felt like it was a little too early to do so given I was getting 90 minutes. Then at the end, she told me we were done. I commented "it has been 90 minutes already," she replied, " oh you were only booked for 60 minutes." Wait what?? I thought I was booked for a 90 minute massage? She replied, "oh, it must be a booking error since you are getting a facial afterwards." Well, thanks for letting me know at the end.
The funny thing about this situation is that Escape day spa called my mom 3 times to confirm this appointment and clearly stated that I was getting a 90 minute massage and facial. Diana also confirmed this at the beginning of the appointment and to top it off, the practitioner working on my mom (David) also told her that I would only be getting 60 minutes at the beginning of her massage. However, no one thought it be a good idea to inform the customer actually paying for this service.
The massage was mediocre at best. I have had better at Escape given that I was told that Diana was the best. I engaged in small talk at the start of the massage, basic questions, how long have you done this...etc. Diana took it to the next level. Throughout the massage she rambled on about her recent illness and how she went on 3 different dates with 3 men in one weekend. She also told me how difficult it is for someone with kids to meet men to date. Blah, blah blah. I will leave it at that. Relaxing? You be the judge.
****My facial with Mel Morales was amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about her and she even recommended an awesome face wash that can help me with my rosacea.*****
My mom had great services by her practitioners. She always goes to David for massage. She loves his work!
Dear Escape, I think this review could have been avoided if you kept me in the loop of what was happening.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katie R.Cleveland, OH01Mar 28, 2024
The ladies at the front desk are angels! I was in town for work and forgot to pack my image vital c cleanser. Found Escape on the image skincare website, called ahead but they were temporarily out of stock. They dug in the back and found a couple samples to get me through my trip! I will absolutely be booking services the next time I'm in town!

Grace does an amazing job with all things hair!! The spa is simply stunning and relaxing. I was 6 months postpartum and was running late to my appointment. Not only did he preform the best message of my life but, he was simply kind. Being a new mom of two and running ragged this simple act meant the world to me!!

Nice place but don't buy a gift card here. I was told by someone at the front desk that gift cards would never expire, so I savored mine and tried to use for special occasions. Well they do expire and I'm very disappointed. Would have made sure to use them in time if I had not been given incorrect information.

This is the third time I took my daughter for a spa day, spending over $1,500 each time. When checking out, I wasn't even thanked for coming. My Swedish massage was like a light rub (the therapist refused to use any more pressure).
My next spa day will be at Woodhouse Day Spa. They provided consistent services and are very appreciative for my business.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - J G.Cincinnati, OH1242Oct 19, 2023
I am so beyond pissed off and just sad, and disappointed. I'm sitting waiting for my massage now and it will be difficult to relax and enjoy it because I'm so disappointed.
When I checked in they told me they don't have me down for the soak that I booked following my massage. I could only do an hour massage due to having the soak afterwards..a little background: I lived in Nashville for 5 years and then was dragged to Ohio. I always wanted to come have a spa day. So I finally just booked it. I REALLY wanted the soak and waited until my back to back pregnancies and breastfeeding were over. I have 3 children (very young- under 5). I drove here from Ohio. The incompetence is just debilitating and I want to cry. I'm just beyond sad.
I truly believe this massage should be comped because now I'll just be moping through the short hour massage, knowing the soak (the REASON I could finally come) is not to be enjoyed.
-A very tired mother of 3 who also works full time and volunteers on weekends :(
I'm just so over stuff, like can't someone just make a reservation correctly?Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 3 - Rachel M.Bothell, WA526306Oct 5, 2023
I was in town for a work meeting and got a 90 min massage with Kelly. She was fantastic and one of the best deep tissue massages I've had in a long time.

So this is the review that I have hesitated writing for quite some time. Escape is a staple in the spa world in Nashville. I've never gotten my hair done there so I am only referring to the spa on the lower level.
I always have a great massage no matter who I get. Here's the issue... The spa continues to get darker and darker (dim lighting) year after year because they don't want you to see what terrible shape the facility is in. Same carpet in the rooms since the day they opened, walls are disgusting, and so on and so on... The steam room doesn't work half the time.
The owners notoriously refuse to do any upgrades because of its name. There are other spas that are now available in Nashville and unfortunately I am going to venture out and try some of those. I truly hate leaving a negative review, especially about this place that I have enjoyed for so many years, but it's just time. You've got to spend money to make money, folks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 22, 2023
I had a heavenly experience here. I went for a massage in December. It was only my second massage ever so I had no idea what to expect. I was absolutely blown away by Escape. It was so luxurious!! The spa part is downstairs. When you arrive you get a little tour of the space. Then you get a locker and change into a robe and slides. After you change you wait in the relaxation area which was just amazing. It's dark and it smells good and you get fruit water or tea. My massage itself was the most relaxing experience I've ever had in my life. I did not want it to end!! It was so so so lovely. After it was over I had some fruit water in the relaxation area and watched a beautiful visual of the ocean. I loved it here so much and I hope to be able to come back!

Escape, whats going on, pretty disappointing... My husband and I have been going there for several years and have bought multiple gift certificates.
I booked an hour and a half facial today that lasted 45 minutes... 300.00 dollars later, I walked out .... and I thought, I have just been had!
Too many other places now in Nashville that provide much better services and worth the splurge...Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Macy R.Nashville, TN1157Aug 3, 2023
Emma did a phenomenal job on my balayage!! I had never had my hair lightened before and was a little nervous, but she made me feel so comfortable and informed me about every step/why it's done!! Will be coming here again in the future.
