Was out and about on 30th Ave and 34th Street and was feeling hungry. I step outside the pharmacy on the corner and boom. There is El Rey Del Taco Truck. The two gentlemen in the truck are very friendly. Ordered a chicken taco and a steak quesadilla. The total was $14.00 The chicken taco was great. Enough chicken to make two tacos. As I stated before I was hungry and ate the taco before I could take a picture. The steak quesadilla was also good full of meat and cheese.. I only ate half and I'm full. I would take a picture but I made it into a hot mess. I just want say thank you guys you made my day and I will recommend you to all my friends. Muchas Gracias. Comida muy Rica.

To preface this review - I am not a food truck girl. I usually prefer to dine in but an Astoria Park picnic made my friend group decide to try a truck.
I ordered a chicken quesadilla expecting a normal meal but it blew my mind how delicious it was. I personally thought $10.40 was a steal for the portion size and quality. I would definitely expect this for double the price at a restaurant.
The wait was under ten minutes and the service was friendly. My friends all enjoyed their different tacos and the truck is in a convenient place in relation to the train (one block away) and Astoria Park. I can't wait to go back with those late night cravings to try something new!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Neil H.New York, NY328248101Apr 16, 2023
Just Hoopla. -much a do about nothing!! After all the hoopla I had heard and read about their tacos truck, I decided to pay a visit. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and coke and took it home with me
My previous experience had been at the launch of the restaurant on 31st Ave last year, 2022, but the food truck is no comparison to their restaurant. The quesadilla was flavorless, even a bit dry. This was nothing how I remember the chicken quesadilla which had been soft and full of tasty chicken, beans, and guacamole. Instead, you find you are at your standard Mexican food truck with the standard traditional Mexican dishes which include tacos, and burritos, There is just nothing to write home about.
Indeed, when I took the food home it was hardly fresh and I was actually thinking of throwing it away. Still, I finished the food on principle. No doubt I will not be back.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 30, 2022Updated review
Ordered:
Tacos de Birria (~$15): 3 birria tacos with consome, onions, cilantro, radish, green and white sauces
Aya's take:
The price of these tacos has gone up by $3 since my last visit a few months before. I love the consome soaked in the taco shell then grilled, making it super crispy and delicious. The birria is also bursting with flavors and the toppings take it to the next level. ~$15 is a bit steep for 3 tacos, but if you're craving birria, El Rey is not a bad idea.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0May 19, 2022Previous reviewOrdered:
Tacos de Birria (~$12): 3 birria tacos with consome, onions, cilantro, radish, green and white sauces
Aya's take:
Great tasting tacos to grab and go! The taco shell is dunked into the consome and then grilled till it's mostly crispy. The birria is tender and juicy and overall, has a nice balance of flavors. Definitely recommend trying El Rey if you're on 30th Ave!Aug 5, 2017Previous reviewWhat to do in Astoria when you just came back from a night out at 2am and you're hungry? Stop by here! We came around 2am and there were probably 10 people waiting to order or get their food. That's how you know!!
I ordered the tostada with half chicken and half beef. It came with lettuce, tomato, onions, black beans, cheese, and sour cream. The tostada was crispy and for $3 it was the most filling thing you can find at this time of night!
The chicken and beef were so tender and full of spices and flavor. Everything came together so deliciously! It can get a bit messy so just take a bunch of napkins with you.
The prices are fair and the quality is on point. You can't go wrong!! - Dee A.NY, NY055Jul 22, 2023
Food: Let's talk about flavorful and fresh. Read the reviews on yelp after a fun night and here I am having to write a review to let you know that you should definitely get you some tacos.
Service: Fast; Friendly and Authentic
Ambience: I mean it's New York; clean area..., hoping if you eat there that you keep it that way. Use the trash in the corner.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 171171258Nov 27, 2022
Conveniently located and open late. Yummy, greasy, and loaded tacos. I'm thankful for their fish option, as this is not always available at other trucks. Carnitas is great too.

Inaccurate pricing as depicted on the side of their own truck.
Surcharges for credit card usage.
False advertising. Huge pictures of "Birria Tacos" on the side of their truck and "Sorry, I don't have it".
Food is merely decent.
Things have definitely taken a nosedive for this truck.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2021
This truck has by far the best Mexican food ever!
Food: absolutely delicious! Every bite is dripping with flavor! The tacos are my go to, you cannot go wrong! The quesadilla is absolutely delicious as well but gets a bit soggy, so eat it right away! The burrito is worth two meals! Not a huge fan of the bowl, but that's just because their other items are very good
Price: very reasonable and cheap!
Service: super quick, friendly peopleHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - April K.New York, NY94183Feb 14, 2022
Happened to be driving by one night and spotted this new truck that just opened on Bell Blvd, so I decided to give them a try for the first time and the tacos at this truck are by far the best tacos I've had!
I tried the al pastor tacos and they were absolutely delicious! Every single bite had so much flavor. These tacos are currently my go to tacos, and they are super affordable, the service is quick, and the employees are friendly.
Since this truck is new on Bell Blvd, they are currently only accepting cash.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
