highly recommend! the service was amazing; the cook and waitress were extremely attentive and kind. the food was extraordinary and they even made accommodations to some dishes when needed. meat tasted fresh, ambiance is upbeat and joyful, and food came out fast. very fair prices as well. come here!

I feel like I was very cheated when I went here. I got 4 tacos and they should NOT have been $18!!!! No rice or beans on the side. Just 4 shrimp/fish tacos. Talk about money finesse!!

Another great dinner with the wife. We were craving Mexican food and were in the area. The place was a little on the empty side but win for us because the service was that much more attentive. As a starter, we had the guacamole. You could taste how fresh everything was, but there was a little too much lime in it. Just a little overpowering to other flavors, it didn't slow me down. The menu provided a lot of options, but I was set once I saw they had pozole. It was a big health serving that was enough for dinner.
As you can see, they have all the great things go so well in soup. The only thing it lacked was the limes, which might have ended up in the guac. Nonetheless, really happy we stopped here for dinner.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Daniel A.Third Lake, IL0164Sep 2, 2019
New name new owners I'm guessing. Julio's Mexican Restaurant is fantastic. I had 4 different tacos (5 in all) and each were outstanding.
Great service and great food what more can you ask for?
Again is Julio's now not El Jaliciense.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Pam S.Round Lake Beach, IL114331Apr 16, 2019
I saw this special Burrito with green sauce on another website. I asked about it and they made it for me. It was fantastic and huge. I took 1/2 of it home. I probably could have finished it all. Try this restaurant! They were friendly and accommodating. Just not sure where you'd park if it's full. They are right on 134 and only have a few spaces out front.

Wasn't crazy about this spot when it was El Jaliciense, but Julio's is something else entirely. Not sure when the change happened and can't tell if it's under new ownership or not (I'm assuming it is), but the food and the service are unbeatable. I highly recommend getting any of the dishes that feature their mole sauce...or just ask for them to smother your favorite burrito in it. If you're in the mood for Mexican and are looking for a place that has some elevated dishes outside of your usual taco, torta and burrito options (which they have), then give Julio's a try!

Our favorite place to get tacos! We get the al pastor, pork, chorizo and carnitas every time. The green sauce is a spicy delight ! We always get extra so we can eat it with everything. Nicest workers and always puts out good food !

Renamed Julio's Mexican restaurant....which threw us off initially, but we were pleasantly surprised. Food was very authentic and so good! Service was excellent. Will definitely come back!!!

In a bind, we were all craving Mexican food and nowhere seemed to be open (it was New Year's Day). After calling around, El Jaliciense was the only place open, but happened to be closing within the hour of us calling. We quickly ordered ten tacos (chicken and steak) just to preview what the restaurant had to offer and to satisfy our craving. We got 10 tacos and an order of rice for under $20... pretty good for a family of four!
The restaurant interior is really cute, very traditional Mexican but family friendly with TVs on the walls and music playing. We carried out, but plan to head back on a day that the restaurant will be open for longer than just a few more minutes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Renato P.Algonquin, IL7668953May 18, 2009First to Review
This place is a decent sized casual Mexican joint. Their menu was very diverse , having most dishes I would come to expect and a few unique ones I was glad I saw. I ordered the tampiquena which is one of my go to dinners. I thought it was very good, best I've had in the area so far. So to sum up, it is a decent hole in the wall type family place. I would definitely go back there.
