A cool spot for sure!!
Theres a decent amount of video games and they have cute little tables next to them to place your drink. I thought that was a great touch! You get tokens from the bartender which was a bit annoying because there was a line for drinks at pretty much all times! So I would suggest getting a bunch when you place your drink order.

They had a DJ which was cool and he was playing some chill funky music and we loved the outdoor space which was great to chill and enjoy the beautiful (and cool) evening!

Just an FYI: The area is a bit sketchy as there wasn't anything else open on that street and it was REALLy dark. Just keep your eyes peeled!

I am not sure what was with the bartender (short guy with a deep voice) but he was RUDE when we asked a question about what was in the drink special. It seemed after he took our order he went home for the evening because I didn't see him again which was probably for the better because not only were our drinks sub-par but his rude attitude killed my excitement for this place.

Straight to the point: classic arcade games and booze, my paradise. It's not my Headquarters over in Chicago, but it's suffice enough. Good selection of games (although I'd switch out some games for better classics like Dig Dug or Mappy). The place has a really great layout and an amazing Street Fight 2 mural. Spacious in some areas, veryyyyyyy tight between the arcade boxes

But hol up. Please get y'alls weekend crowds together for the regulars. I live across the street and will never dare to enter on a weekend night (unless I'm that drunk enough). The outside dwellers really are something else. Multiple glasses broken literally right next to me tonight. People act like they don't understand "next game" etiquette (don't y'all straights play pool?). Folks act like they can't USE THEIR GROWN MOUTHS AND SPEAK UP IF THEY NEED TO GET BY YOU. And lastly: get yo bouncers together too. Homies acting like they at a tailgate party in front of the place. I'll be honest, I preferred it here before the pandemic; apparently Corona got some o y'all acting like damn animals lol

So in conclusions, if you really enjoy your arcade oldies and/or an avid gamer, come during the weekday evenings, or weekend afternoon/early evenings, the least annoying and most enjoyable time

I like all the nostalgic games they offer and the DJ they had that night was awesome.  What makes it also so great is that they have competitions. We went during the Street Fighter Hyper competition and it was just so cool!  Note: they also stream live on Twitch.  

Long story short, if you want to have a great time with some friends with old school arcade games and an entire section of pinball machines, this is the place to go! Plus you are in the Art's District/Little Tokyo so there are things to do around there before and after.

Barcades are a strange creature. As a mix up of nostalgia, technology, and libations you would think they would be great social spaces for anyone who loved the arcades and wanted more from a bar than entertainment coming from speaking to strangers. And I want to like EightyTwo because it does tick all the boxes you would expect from a barcade.

Good selection of retro arcade games: check
Has a pinball collection of more than 3: check
A fully stocked bar: check
DJ spinning: check

Yet with all of these positives working for them it almost feels like each item has a flaw, like a glitchy sprite or NPC. For example though they do have about 15 different arcade games ranging from shooters like Area 51 to large party games like X-Men each console only kinda works. Several of the games have joysticks that are semi-rigid, probably sticky from the numerous drinks that have slipped through the controls. It's off putting and since these games are from the 80s and 90s the gameplay is difficult. Combining those two things make for a quick dismissal in continual feeding tokens into a busted machine. The shining light is their pinball machines. One wing of the place has just pinball machines, about 12 of them. It's always nice to see a love for pinball machines and this alt arcade element.

The outdoor area is probably my favorite. The way the place is built is like two different businesses were put together and the shared courtyard is the shining space. A giant mural of Blanka and Chun Li is on the wall. Large planters with benches and trees around the concrete make for a modern but very California style aesthetic. This space is perfect in taking advantage of the night air and socializing. In fact, this area shines so much that even without arcade games this place would fit as an ideal space for a bar, and that kind of sums up EightyTwo as a whole: EightyTwo is a social space with arcade games more as decorum than the main player. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It makes for pretty entertaining times. But the games will only grab your interest for maybe 30 minutes. The drinks, the vibes, and the outdoor courtyard is what'll really keep you.

Overall, I would say EightyTwo is a barcade that excels more at being a bar than an arcade. If you are a gamer who wants an adult space to play and socialize this is a let down. But, if you are someone who loves interesting social spaces and occasionally enjoys the nostalgia of arcade culture this is aimed more for you. Either way, EightyTwo is worth checking out, even if it's just a pit stop along the way for the rest of your summer night out.

Something new actually on radio. Music pushes ppl out ! It's so sad , I loved the bar , the patio and the scenery but the music is what will you out.  Ughhhh so sad. All Caucasian djs behind the booth no color is no flavor at all , it's all techno and dance house musics.  Boooooo

Arrived right when they opened before it got busy and had a blast! I ordered the Paloma w/ squirt and it was delicious and pretty strong I must say! My bf had the Santa Monica Wheat Ale or IPA and enjoyed it. All of the games were fun, our favorite was Blitz '99! The bar does have tokens if you're trying to break a $20 bill. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because 3 or 4 of their pin ball machines kept eating our money. The staff is friendly so I'm sure if you go up to them they will help, we just felt bad because the bar started getting busy.

Place is trash, bathrooms are terrible, security is rude, drinks are weak and the music is terrible. Safe your money and go somewhere else.

What a fun environment! Step back into 80's arcade fun and have a few drinks in this chill environment. I really liked how they brought the outside in with the enclosed patio open to the sky. Intimate and friendly at the same time. I would definitely go back.

Bar is spacious and nice. Just be careful at the parking lot around the corner which is a machine paid parking lot sometimes there is a man pretending to work there and will charge you for parking but please use the machine or you will get a parking ticket.

Drove 25 minutes and walked 15 minutes and they wouldn't let me in bc I had my dog will never come back.
