LOVE THIS PLACE. I'm a college student in Manhattan. I was skeptical because of the poor reviews... they must have turned this place around because when I went (11/11/2022) it was amazing. I couldn't find the entrance and the staff were very helpful on the phone. They were nice during the check in, and everything was CLEAN! Has a working, very nice sauna and steam room (neither are incredibly spacious, but gets the job done). Went on a Friday night and there were a lot of people (at least 40 at one point from what I could see).
Facilities are NOT what other reviews have made this place out to be. Prices are a little high but to be fair it's the last bathhouse in NYC and prob struggling with all these bad reviews. Give this place a shot! 10/10 recommend. A lot better than other bathhouses I've been to in Los Angeles. - Hg T.Old Toronto, Toronto, Canada02021/10/2023
The word for this place is "rickety". Â Rickety walls. Â Rickety stairs. Â Rickety people. Â
The only bathhouse in the world where you're forced to tip a guy who walks you to your room -- an only-in-New-York money grab.
Icing on the cake was the janitors here who sang at the top of their lungs, in drag-type voices, while they were cleaning rooms. Â Sexy. - 3010811011/24/2022
Great fun. Excellent staff. Diverse crowd. Clean. Â If you can't enjoy yourself here, the source of the problem may be you.

The clientele who still regularly go there are mostly the sexually bigoted and racist size queens derived from the older-school gay culture, where all blacks are well endowed tops and asians are all bottoms. If your a man of color, go at your own risk, with expectations very low. Avoid Saturday nights, for a more chill atmosphere.
I've never had a problem with the original staff, I've known them for years. - Jasin S.Bronx, NY10699111/21/2021
So the heavy set miserable balding red headed older gentleman running the window 11/21/2021 @ 6:30pm........try to say my vaccine card was fake ( I shouldn't of known the moment it walked over lips all ready pressed it was going to be a problem)......mind you I work in the health field and got it directly from the hospital...... I'm sure if it was a burger  or slice of pizza  she would be able to recognize the difference. But the crazy part is one of the other Patrons told me it's probably bc I'm Asian. Imagine that. Any other ppl have this problem there ?

I can't understand why some peole bash this place. Â On my last trip to NYC I visited three times and I found the club to be a really nice place. Â Unlike what some have said, the staff there is very pleasant and helpful. Â It was never very crowded on any of the times I was there but I still met several very nice guys and we had a great time playing! Â There's a sauna and a steam bath, and as far as cleanliness goes, everything looked well attended to me. Â Come on, guys, it's a gay bath house, not The Plaza...I'm thankful that there's one left. Â I was visiting from Palm Springs CA, and as queer as it is there, there are no baths...which I find incredible. Â It felt great being in a cool bath house which delivered the goods. Â The owners could turn up the heat a bit - I found it to be a bit on the cold side. Â I would definitely return if I were back in New York!

This place is an absolutely disgusting mess its full of bedbugs and other creepy crawlers . The stuff sucks  they can be  extremely rude .this overpriced nothing has been changed since the 1980s . The showers never  have hot  water the staem room is full of blood sucking bugs that attach  themselves to your skin and bite you  .the owner can  careless about their customers or anything else it's shown by the  negligence and how nasty filthy they the  keep the place  the state of the place . I would avoid the east side club like the plague. Showers are beyond gross. I am surprised the health department has not closest the place down  for good it needs to be burned down that's how bad it is.

On 7/26/2022 I decided to check out this place in order to determine if it had any virtues as a relaxing all-male spa. I should have known this visit would not be a productive, positive experience since its website looked dated (circa 2021), unprofessional, and frankly sad. Â The owners obviously didn't care about prospective customers. Â It was almost as if the website proclaimed: PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. When I reached the reception window I was greeted by a young man who informed me that entry required a $40 membership fee and that rooms were available for $42. Â I asked him if there were rooms at the $27 rate as listed on a price board next to the window. He said rooms cost $42, which made me wonder about the $15 difference. He also told me that the club was a CASH ONLY business. (This was not mentioned on the club's website.) which also made me question the $15 CASH ONLY difference in the advertised rate. Not having the required $82 CASH ONLY on me for admittance I left; this was not the kind of place I wished to patronize; it just seemed very sleazy.

Had to respond to all these negative reviews from  all these haters. Ive been here many times and yes it can be hit or miss but  what place isn't. You might not be into everyone and they might be not into you but dont come here expecting it to be New Years Eve every night. Its a safe place to get a room , take a shower, maybe have some fun for a few hours and the only place in the city left like this. Ive never seen any bugs and have watched the mostly great staff keep the place as clean as possible. My one beef is there is one attendant who is needs to chill  out and stop behaving like a guard in a prison. He is rudely over aggressive walking through the halls shining a flashlight and coming into the steam and video room every 3 minutes (not kidding every 3 minutes) even when theres nothing going on but a couple of guys talking. Otherwise the rest of the staff is great and pleasant. Also wish they could show some better porn like they used to have at the Westside So unless you have something constructive to say to make the place better just shut up go somewhere else and don' t ruin it for those that appreciate that this place still exists!

I have to admit, I kind of like this place.
I've been coming here on and off since the mid 90s and while the layout has changed slightly over the years, it's essentially the same. Â It has your typical bathhouse fare -- lockers, private rooms, sauna, steam, showers. Â They also have 'changing rooms' for rent -- which are small (approximately 5x5 rooms). Â There is also a small adult video lounge, as well as another seating area showing broadcast television. Â There are also two public computers, vending machines, and wi-fi (although in my experience, the wi-fi is spotty and weak -- also there are no outlets in any of the private rooms, so to charge a device you'll have to do so in the lounge).
I've always found the facilities to be relatively clean -- by no means spotless, but I don't feel uncomfortable walking around barefoot. There is a ban on any public nudity or play, and they enforce it -- however I have participated and witnessed all kinds of activity in more discreet corners of the facility.
Sadly, there are only two gay bathhouses remaining in Manhattan -- West Side Club and East Side Club. Â Both are pricey (nearly $40 for a temporary membership and a locker). Â And as I understand it, both are owned by the same entity. The East Side Club is by far the better choice. Â It's not great, but it's not bad. Â Â
In my experience, the clientele skews older and of course the crowd is hit or miss. Â But more often than not, I've enjoyed myself. Â It's worth a visit.
