My dude was OK. Things could've definitely went much smoother. He wasn't mean but he wasn't very friendly or talkative either and didn't communicate well. I had to text my dude first to make sure he would be able to handle my move and verify the time and got a pretty short and blunt reply. He showed up 5 minutes late as well and I was worried he'd be a no show, causing more embarrassment! It doesn't sound like much but the sun was setting and we were picking the items up from a very nice home and neighborhood and didn't want to piss the owners off! Overall I felt pretty awkward and stressed. It works kind of like Lyft/Uber when you wait for someone to accept your ride. I do like how you can adjust a future date and time for a ride. When I initially requested my move and got the text saying they'd find me a dude in "5-15 minutes" it turned more into 20+. Then I decided to cancel it and tried requesting one again waiting over 15 minutes, resulting in a further delay from my original request time (hour+) and I was super worried about waiting for someone to accept my trip, which was transferring a washer/dryer from a house from upper state to Goleta. It was my first time using and finding this app for the SB area after someone had recommended Lugg to me but discovered that was only for the Bay Area/LA. I got quoted $95 for the move which was way cheaper than other estimates I was getting from regular companies ($165+) and was desperate to get our items moved that day. My dude had an interesting mini skinny van but half of it was full of miscellaneous things like a bed. He didn't reveal to us until after that he just installed his ramp on the back of his car. His car & engine also almost didn't start again after getting to the pickup location! Overall our washer/dryer made it 95% safe and sound into our place but it was sketchy and awkward because of his car troubles and lack of friendliness/communication. Watching him try to load the items on and off was borderline high blood pressure! Also sketchy was that I got charged a day later and got a notice that my driver changed after the trip occurred. I made sure to text my original dude to see if this was ok just because I wanted to make sure the right "dude" was getting paid. He said it was ok, but I wish my experience could've matched the other 5 star reviews and had better customer service! The owners did reach out to me and I would give them another chance in the future since they are the most cost/budget friendly option!

Dude, it's called Dude I Need a Truck. Best name ever, and it's exactly what it sounds like. Think Uber/Lyft truck share with driver for small loads. I used the Dude to move a mattress to a storage unit, and had him help my husband move a couch between apartments while he was there. I described what I needed in the app when I booked the job, so my guess is that the drivers will self screen for things they can't or won't do, but if you have questions I found their customer service to be really responsive a previous time I got a quote. For small, simple moves and hauling projects this is brilliant. Not sure how useful it would be if you have a ton of stuff to move (you may want to make sure you have at least two people to help with big bulky stuff--and only so much will fit in a pick up), but for my purposes this was exactly what I needed. Actual movers would have been ridiculously overkill. I especially like how easy and fast it is. No need to plan in advance. I scheduled my dude just two hours in advance, and clearly could have had someone there sooner (but I wasn't ready). I love how last minute this was.

Dude I Need a Truck really saved my bacon. David, my Dude, was the the epitome of professionalism combined with friendliness. It felt more like an old bud who I hadn't seen in a while helping me out, rather than a complete stranger. Any reservations were quickly put to rest. Highly, highly recommend!

My first experience with the guys at Dude I Need A Truck was pretty great. Everything was done with the app, and it was super fast, efficient, and helpful. As a college student I needed a number of items of furniture moved to a storage facility on short notice. They moved my stuff from Isla Vista to a facility downtown and it cost about $80. Although if you're a UCSB/SBCC student or just living in IV, I believe moving things within IV is considerably cheaper. I re-considered the price but you have to realize that they bring the truck to you, move your stuff for you, take it to your location, and help you move the stuff in. A little bit more costly than renting out a U-Haul but the added expense provides you with a personable Dude who is a lot more helpful. I of course helped out what I could but I'm pretty sure my Dude Marcus could have handled it all on his own. There was a point where Marcus pulled over and added another strap to really secure my stuff in his truck bed and I thought that was pretty great. The Dudes really take professional care of your stuff while it's being moved. Marcus was a complete professional, and he was super friendly and quick. I highly recommend the Dudes! Fast, efficient, and responsive service at a decent price. Hit 'em up!

It was 7am on a Monday morning at Home Depot. I was moving into my new offices downtown Santa Barbara and was at the Depot to find a massive flower pot for my 8ft tall Bird of Paradise. I found exactly what I was looking for. No truck and no help, meant no 150 pound Pot. I clicked for a "Dude" to come out and within 15 minutes a great guy named Jacob and his truck were on the scene and within minutes he had my flower pot heading downtown. Refusing my help he put the pot on his dolly and got it up to my 5th floor office with a smile!!! I'm recommending this App and company to everyone. Thanks Dude!

Wow, what great service! The "dude" aka Marcus arrived on time and was very helpful. He went above and beyond to help me out with my move. We were initially only going to move my bed and two bikes into my new place, but there was an old bed in the spot I was going to move my new bed. Marcus was more than helpful with helping me move the unexpected bed out. It took a lot of extra time because we actually had to break it to get it out of the doorway. He was kind and helpful the whole time even though we didn't originally agree on moving the extra bed. I will 100% be using this service again! More people need to know about this!!

Craig was my Dude and he was great! He picked up my mattress in a timely fashion and helped me move it upstairs. Very friendly, quick service, and so convenient! way better than using a uHaul! :) would recommend and would definitely use their service again!

Excellent service!! My friends and I had to move a couch to a storage unit, and our Dude, Marcus, was super friendly, helpful, and very patient with us! He helped us physically move the couch out of the house, into the truck, and into the storage unit. We had a few problems on our part, not knowing exactly what our storage unit # was (we were sharing with other friends who had forgot to mention it), but he was very patient and flexible, offering to drive us there, and if it didn't work out, drive us to our back-up house. Overall, this service is super, super convenient if you don't have your own truck and don't need one as big or expensive as a Uhaul! We will definitely be using this app again in the future! What can I compare it to? Finding the holy grail comes in a close 2nd which is near impossible. Just like trying to find that so called friend to help you move something after you helped him carry a thousand year old Chinese couch up six flights of stairs. Oh don't let me forget to tell you, that I did this with a busted shoulder after being run over by a Prius while riding a motorcycle, TRUE STORY. His contact got deleted and replaced with DUDE.

Dude j need a truck was fast, efficient, affordable (between me and all of my housemates), and hassle free. We requested a truck just a couple hours before we needed it as a last resort sort of thing, and Conrad came to the rescue. He was so relaxed, experienced, kind, and easy to work with! We are definitely coming back to Conrad next time we need a dude and a truck.

Amazing service. Our dude arrived quickly, efficiently loaded a large grill into his truck and drove it to its destination and helped us move it in. Will definitely use this service next time.

I've used Dude multiple times (mostly small stuff like a frig, couch, etc) ...they knock it out of the ballpark every time. I highly recommend them as they're always reliable, work hard, and not to mention, these Dudes have exceptional attitudes too.

They worked magic to haul a "free gift" that weighed 350 lbs and had to go up a flight of stairs. They were on time, on target and all around fantastic. What an awesome service. On-demand movers? Yes, please! I bought a couch and a media center on Craigslist and Dude came in and saved the day. Marcus was the nicest guy - trustworthy, courteous, efficient - all around great guy with great service. The service to pick up, load and drop off took about 45 minutes total. Who can ask for better than that? Great business model with five-star service. I will use them again and recommend Dude I Need a Truck to everyone!

I recently needed to move and Craig was the dude who helped me with the move. He was excellent, arrived on time and finished the whole move in one trip in an hour. I would highly recommend this service and especially Craig. He went above and beyond what was needed for him to do (without any additional charge) by helping me take a few boxes to a UPS store that was across the street. Thank you Craig for making my move so smooth. I would recommend this service to everyone - its affordable and excellent.

This past weekend was Isla Vista's UCSB annual end-of-the year move out ... which roughly translates to "72 hours of chaos and no available moving trucks." My son had a 10am reservation with one of the local smarmy U Haul peddlers, but upon arrival it became apparent that our "friends" at said rental facility had offered at least 8x the number of reservations as they had trucks. I told my son "there must be a better way." And after a quick search on Yelp, we found "the Dudes" and all our worries disappeared. Within 10 minutes (literally), Dude, I Need A Truck had our "Dude" (Ted, who was awesome) en route to my son's apartment. Ted expertly loaded his truck, tied it all down and helped unload upon arrival at the storage unit. I cannot say enough about what a positive, professional, cost effective and convenient service this is. If you need a truck, the "Dude" abides.

As a young lady, I was a tiny bit nervous to use DUDE and have as a stranger pack up all of my belongings and move them for me. That is a big gamble in trust! However, my experience with Dude could not have been better! Craig showed up 5 minutes early, was completely prepared and couldn't have been a nicer person to spend a couple of hours with. Craig was so well extremely professional, secured all of my belongings with care, and was very prompt. It was also so nice to not have to deal with the hassle of renting a uHaul, packing it all up myself and driving it through the city. Would highly recommend DUDE to all of my friends who are moving!
