This is located in a small plaza shared with 711 and little ceasers. Parking is small and can be very busy getting in and out. Came here to get dim sum and I was pleased. I loved the fried shrimp tofu. It's huge and well worth it. Very tasty too. I also loved their sesame balls. (5 for $1) you can taste the freshness and it has a good balance between the filling and the sticky outer part. The eggplant shrimp dim sum was just okay. it seemed like it was overcooked and dried up a little. The har gaw was a good size but the wrapper was dry too. Prices were Fair and customer service was good. I'll definitely be back!
This place was OK. We came here Saturday midday for lunch and I felt like a lot of the food wasn't fresh. I really liked the sautéed eggplant, it was really sweet and saucy. It balanced out the rest of my meal. The fried chicken was very overcooked and dry, it was very hard and chewy. Same with the fried fish, except this was so overcooked that there wasn't any pieces of soft fish to chew on. The dim sum was good, I got the shrimp and chives and while it wasn't very fresh, it was a good size and decently flavored. The chow mein was good, but it didn't have too much flavor either. Same with the pork buns. My favorite part of the meal was the custard buns. They were extremely stuffed with custard and freshly made. They were really warm and fluffy and you really got your moneys worth with the amount of filling they put in it.
This place surprised me! These guys do swift business out of this small outlet in an unassuming strip mall. I initially sampled their food at a friend's party, and then while thinking about ordering from them for a party we were hosting, I went in on a weekday evening to order a 3-item combo to sample a few things on my own. I ended up ordering the combo with fried rice, chow mein, and sesame chicken. It's a low key Panda Express-like setup with a few select items of the day to choose from in various combo options. Dim sum is also available. Beware, the parking lot is a zoo in the early evening since there's a chilcare place next door, so tons of parents and kids coming and going in the area. If you're looking to order party-sized trays, they have the menu and tray pricing posted inside the restaurant. The staff is very helpful in taking orders. The day I went in to place my order and pay, I went in around noon on a weekday and it was crazy with a lunch crowd, so definitely try to avoid peak hours! We ended up order 4 trays: egg fried rice, veggie chow mein, sesame chicken, and garlic eggplant & tofu. The food was a hit! Many guests commented that the food was flavorful and not overly salty nor oily. We'd definitely recommend Tai Pan for party orders. Bonus: It's literally the only Chinese restaurant I could find in the area that opens at 10:30am (great for early parties!).
Very nice place for getting Chinese BBQ fix, you can also get some dim sum and Chinese dishes available daily in Fremont hub. They closed early, make sure hou check their time before u go. 3 combo with rice comes with sauted cabbage, roasted duck, roasted pork and BBQ pork. Skin for roasted pork still crispyy! Good size and no wait time usually, they also offered extensive menu offerings from dim sum and Chinese stir fry for catering as well thru door dash. Keep up the good work, nice to be able to enjoy this special flavorite without drivign far to any China town that don't have parking!
Wow! I was really surprised by this place. This is a hidden gem. I found it on yelp looking for some Asian type of food for take out. I was really impressed with the food quality, quantity and price. There is a good variety as well. This is like an upscale Panda Express and more authentic. I would not recommend eating here as it's very small inside and warm from all the food and heat lamps to keep the food warm but definitely recommend takeout. Everything was delicious especially the sesame balls. The The staff were very nice and patient. I did not really have any questions as the menu explained enough and you can see most of the food as it's already ready to be purchased. They are pretty quick as well to get to your order and get you out the door.
Not worth your 1.17 per piece. The wrapper isn't worth the calories as I'd put it. The interior of the har gow was unusually dry. The wrapper was gooey and under yet over cooked as if the temperature cooking it was not balanced. Very nice servers though.
It was my first time here, so I needed some time to look at the menu and food items. I told the lady I needed a few minutes to decide, but she kept pestering me to order as if I wasn't allowed to browse. She kept saying, "Hello? Hello? What you order? Hello?" Omg I TOLD YOU I wasn't ready!!!! I hate feeling rushed, and they do a great job hurrying you here. It's too bad the customer service isn't good because the food is.
I came here for lunch and got the Roast Duck Won Ton Noodle. I waited about 10 minutes to get my food. Roast Duck Won Ton Noodle ($10.75)- I loved the soup. It was sweet and the flavors soaked into the noodles. To be honest, the noodles weren't the best. The noodles were too thin for my liking and tasted more like instant noodle ramen. I loved the roast duck though. The meat was delicious and had awesome flavors. Overall, I would order the duck by itself, but the noodles weren't my favorite.
I've been going to this place since it was called Dragon BBQ. After the name change, I figured that they actually added dim sum to their menu (although I haven't yet tried their dim sum). This place is a tiny restaurant with only 3 tables inside and most of the people come here buying food to go. This place is my favorite place to get Salted fish & chicken fried rice when I'm having potluck. The salted fish are plenty and I could actually taste bits of the fish - unlike in other places where they only give you few pieces of salted fish. It is not greasy and not fishy. However, one time I tried to order via telephone and they quoted me a significantly more expensive price for the medium party tray. They said the medium tray was $35 but in fact, the menu list at the restaurant showed it is $29! I'm glad that I went at the restaurant and ordered it right there instead via telephone. i tried their 2 items combo with beef chow fun, sesame chicken, and eggplant with garlic sauce. Overall, the food was good (not too greasy and not too salty) but the sesame chicken was a bit too sweet for my taste. The best was the sesame balls! For $1, you'll get 5 little sesame balls filled with sweet ground mung bean that are super delicious! You have to get this snack!!! Parking can be hard to find since it's located in a small strip mall along with other restaurants and some after school activities. The worst time was around 3-4pm on weekday when all the parents pick up their kids from the next door place and you'll have to circle several times to get a spot.
Tai Pan BBQ Express Dim Sum takes over Dragon BBQ Express in Fremont. Since I hadn't been to Dragon BBQ Express, I believe the main difference is that the offer Dim Sum now. Plus there are other Tai Pan locations in the South Bay. The place is dedicated to take out, but there are three tables inside if you choose to eat in, like I did. The staff speaks Cantonese and English. I ordered Sesame Balls, Wonton Noodle Soup, and Soy Sauce Chicken Rice Plate. The food was ready in a flash (hence the "Express" in their name). The food was delicious. I'll have to try out more of their Dim Sum as well as their Roast Duck / Roast Pork / BBQ Pork. Their customers appear to be regulars -- mainly in the elderly Chinese side.
I have been to Tai Pan twice! Both times were very pleasant experiences. Every time I walked in, the staff were super friendly in greeting me (which is very rare in Chinese restaurants, especially BBQ shops like these). They have a wide variety of already made Chinese dishes, BBQ, and Dim Sum.
This place used to serve good delicious food. I had not been back in a year, today I ordered fried "dry" rice more like it (old burnt rice) and sesame chicken on the tough side. I wont be wasting my money on this place anymore!
Tai Pan BBQ Express is in Fremont Commons commercial strip. parking inadequate for existing tenants. peak hours-parking issues. offerings: lunch specials, dim sum, steam table scoop & go -kung pao chicken (lg. 6.95) cucumbers, onions, peppers, carrots, dry chicken fillets with random chili pieces. greasy taste, lotsa veggie, little chicken. -food doesn't look appetizing, just sitting around waiting to be bought. leftovers: -people line up on honor system, waiting to be served always one will cut in front. servers don't care.... -food isn't to die for, just appears to be cheap.
Generous portions. Decent-typical-chinese-takeout but efficient customer service. Food's about 3.5/5, accepts credit card for more than $7 and plenty of parking on weekends
We started to come here over 15 years ago when it was under Dragon BBQ express management. We sorted of know the couple owners. Maybe they retired and sold this place Tai Pan BBQ express. Same workers work here, and their BBQ is still good. My mom loves their roast pork because of the crispy skin. Their BBQ pork (char siu) is little sweet, but the meat is lean. We like that little sweetness :). Roasted ducks and soy chickens are very good as well. Everything looks the same, except they add the steam oven and sell dim sum dishes. They also have wonton soup / wonton noodles soup (make to order). We love the BBQ here, and prices are affordable.
I live near this Chinese deli restaurant. They have one of best roast ducks here. They also serve other traditional Chinese food including dim sum. Price is very reasonable, and if you are in hurry to grab a very tasty meal, this is the place!
Beware of what you are charged. I went there couple of times after this place re-opened under a new name. The food is decent for the price. However, I noticed that on several occasions, I'm charged higher than the advertised price (see attached pictures for one occasion). The difference is not much but I'd prefer to pay the advertised price. Why not update the price list on the wall so customers can trust that they're paying the advertised price?
I had lunch here today. I was planning on going to Taqueria Limon next door but when I passed this place, the smell made me stop and check what is going inside. After a moment looking what they have, I decided to eat here instead. Two item combo. I got the fried chicken, fried rice and beef chow fun. I really like the chicken. It was nice and crisp. The chow fun is also good with the right amount a beef. It can use more flavor so I had to add some soy sauce. The fried rice is good but you can really taste the msg. Very friendly staff, and the place looks clean. Most of the customers are to go orders although they do a have small dining area with three tables in case you want to eat in. I am looking forward to my next visit.
New owner and management. They have new cook chef and include a section of dim sum sell 7 days a week. BBQ was their specialty and fast serving too
Food was terrible. Look like it sat there for several days. NOT fresh at all. Wasted $8. How did this place get that many stars?
